Shusty made some good points regarding the venues and that will attract people…but you gotta have some big names to make this official. People want to test their best against the best…to try and prove they’re the best.
Bring top players and Japanese players and everything else will take care of itself…in my opinion of course.

Lord from day one I’ve also said Get Daigo and the rest will come which is mostly true. Just want more reasons for people to come and make a weekend out of it and to push the hotel as the spot to be so people don’t try and get hotels down the road for like 20 bucks less or something.

i wrote you a list of things that I could do for you that’s as long as the Gettysburg address and you never responded, whenever your ready hit me up. Or ill just tell ya in person someday. The main thing is entertainment honestly, you gotta appease to these people make them realize that this wont just be another tourney and you do that on opening night of course. The things I’ve been noticing is that the street fighter community is growing in age and in wisdom, so more adult orientated themes are drawing people to want to come out and play. But anyways we’ll talk ive got some awesome ideas that will be cost efficient too.

Daigo is a bigger name and RF is not known for going to foreign tourneys. Big names worth grabbing would be Daigo, Tokido, Mago, Gamerbee. You get any of those 4 and you’re bound to pull big names from the US.
The only other thing i could possibly think of would be a large(2.5k+) guaranteed pot which is only doable through sponsors and that is an area that i have no experience in so i won’t even attempt to give you any advice in that arena lol.
Keep in mind when you talk about bringing huge names from overseas that their airfare and hotel stays are generally accommodated for them, which is what entices them to come to these tournaments (besides the chunky payouts for the bigger tourneys). I’m not sure if their sponsors pay for them (i.e. Mad Catz for The Beast), or if the tournament organizer(s) start a donation fund to get them to come. I’m sure that some come on their own will in trying to oust Americans for their hard earned money, but having these huge costs taken care of will make a pretty significant difference (please bear in mind that I’ve gotten all of this information from skimming various threads, mostly on SRK — I have no validation how much fact lies in this paragraph, but I doubt multiple threads would be wrong).
Kind of interested on the subject, so if anybody knows for certain, please chime in! I mean, I’d be down to chip in on a fund for the chance to play against a top tier foreign player.

Madcatz Pays for Daigo to come to the events, they just need a run down of your event etc then they approve it. Working on it now with MarkMan.
Sako had a sponsor pay his way, and Tokido totally paid everything on his own to come to Socal Regionals.
It all just depends on the players and I’m working on it all. And Rf over Daigo is a terrible idea lol. That’s like saying Me Over Justin Wong.
Thanks for the clarification! Of all the players that you mentioned, I most would like to see Sako play in person. His execution is simply mind numbing. I’m sure MarkMan will sponsor your event, and even let you have a special CEO code for discounted MadCatz merch for the public. Definitely would put the CEO moniker on the map for a wider audience.
