Now my piece is I’m of the school of thought that when it comes to guns the general population needs to be all educated and encouraged to excersize their 2nd amendment right to bear arms. There is nothing to be done about a guy losing his mind and getting a gun and shooting people, there’s just too many guns available you can go to the store, you can go to the next state you can get it from the next country, you can get it from some local guy who is the gun plug, ( I live in a city of just 250 k I know 4 of these guys and that’s just on my side of town), you can steal one, hell you can print one out with a damn 3d printer. Whatever legal changes you think will make a difference won’t. Not only will they be ineffective,because you just can’t make the guns go away, but they will be improperly funded and mismanaged as is the case with, our infrastructure, social security, insurance, public schools, and all of our other initiatives not related to profiteering.
Your personal safety and health are just that yours and as with everything else that belongs to you it’s your responsibility. Depending solely on legal action leaves you in a best case scenario where someone pulls a gun on you, you’re dead, whether the asshole rots in jail or dies in a shoot out is irrelevant,

The problem with how most gun control laws are thought up is that they’re just too focused on making it hard to own guns, instead of making sure that only those who are fit to own and carry them can. Combine with people on both sides who are rely too much on outrage politics going into the debate, then it’s not surprising that no meaningful reform actually occurs and stuff like what he have here happens.

As an example, the Orlando shooter was accused of domestic violence, but never convicted. We don’t know if those allegations are true or not.

Yeah, to me these are different than just a massacre. Still tragic, but not quite meeting the qualifications that your own state has. Port Arthur was special in the sheer number of dead and wounded.
Like I said before, banning even just a few classifications of guns won’t stop gun violence, I don’t even think banning all guns outright will do that, but it will bring that number down and will stop perpetrators from killing loads of victims in such a short amount of time. Japan has an almost blanket ban on guns, but even they still saw 11 gun-related homicides in 2008.
I’d rather have 11 than over 12,000 during that same time period, imo.
