Real talk. I’m 100% for the constitution and the rights it affords us. But when I received my revolver from my father, I was surprised to learn I didn’t have to do anything.
If I want to conceal carry I have to get a permit, but that’s it. I don’t have to register the gun or anything like that. It’s just mine and nobody’s business. I don’t really agree with that. I’m me, but I could be anyone.
We could have a lot more practices in place that wouldn’t nearly infringe on our second amendment right.
True, but if you look at the san bernardino attack. They obtained illegal semi auto weapons from a friend, had no previous encounters with law enforcement, and were not on the FBI’s watch list. Just home grown crazy motherfuckers who went on a radical islamic terrorist rampage, who seemed like perfectly normal people before that.
This is America. It will never be made too difficult and too expensive to get guns. Its just not going to happen. Not to mention, its not likely to curb dedicated violent people. Look at that UCSB shooter elliot rodgers. Dude had that in the making for a very long time. You couldve given him 5 more months on top of all his previous planning months, and he was still going to do what he was going to do.
Crazy people generally tend to trap themselves in a bubble purposefully, and no amount of wait time, or high cost of getting what they need will prevent that. If anything it might force them to get more creative. Which is even more dangerous considering the damage you can do without a gun, and a little brain power.
Id also like to think that longer wait times might disuade people over time from committing the act of violence they have in their heads. But im not sure thats true at all. Especially not for legit crazy people. Im thinking about it from a normal persons point of view, not a crazy persons point of view. Even as normal people, how often have people wronged us on some junior level shit, and we never talked to them again. If we do that as normal people, imagine what its like in a crazy persons mind.
Although it does seem wild that a person could be on the fbi’s hey im looking at you bitch list twice, have a violent history with an ex wife, and still easily walk into a store and buy the weapons he needed no problem. People say a lot of crazy shit on the internet all the time. There had to be a reason he was flagged twice, and why is there no system to put this dude on at least a longer wait list because of this. Send agents to interview him on why he is seeking purchase of these new weapons. I dont know. I guess we will learn more as the week goes on.
**Even in new york, dont they send local law enforcement to your house for random checkups on registered gun owners. I remember a story about that a couple months ago. While i didnt agree with it then. It seems like it was appropriate to do for this guy. **
The problem with the Second Amendment is how it was worded.
It was put in a piece of paper that was essentially a declaration of war against the Crown. Of course they wanted everyone in the colonies armed. The British were coming for them. They were, essentially, a militia and it was to be so that when a militia rises up they have the right to their weapons.
But lawyers, judges, SCOTUS, politicians, and people have been debating what the founding fathers actually meant for a long time and will always be imo.
Actually transporting “legally” weapons over state lines does not really fly
Police officer with a registered weapon, not loaded brought it with him in his car on a trip to jersey for a concert. Got pulled over, told officer he had a firearm and was thusly arrested and thrown in jail. It took a letter from the police chief to get him out.
I know pro-gun people that constantly preach about how current gun regulations are fine, but these very same people also buy guns illegally. I also know plenty of people who are felons that own illegal guns. They literally just hit up a guy on facebook, then go to his house and purchase said firearm. I feel like if you’re not even someone who even abides by the process, then who are you to say whether it works or not when you’re walking talking proof that it’s not? Both sides of the argument act pretty damn stupid and care more about making the other side look wrong instead of looking at things for what they are.
I know for Indiana people that have weapon stockpiles or powerful weapons in general names homes and license plates etc are marked and any search related to them brings up said info.
But if you’re just average joe with no run ins with the law and decide to do it legally or illegally, short of buying a bunch of semi automatic or automatic weapons you’re not going to get pinged by FBI and who will know what you got hiding in your home?
Honestly its not too late for tighter gun control though with how many already in circulation people will get shit illegally . I have no idea what needs to be done, but I feel like eventually someone will figure it out.
If it weren’t for guns, you wouldn’t even be here. This website wouldn’t exist. **The America you live in today would not exist. If it weren’t for guns, George Washington and 25, 000 Militia men and women who sacrificed their lives would have never been able to win a revolution, which created the greatest country in the history of the world, occupied by the FREEST people upon the face of this earth.
George Washington’s Address to the Continental Army before the Battle of Long Island (27 August 1776)
Why aren’t the People taking the initiative? Because the government MUST fire the first shot. If the People fire the first shot, the majority of the American people will take the side of the government. The majority of the American population are stupid sheeple idiots. These sheeple will see American Patriots as gun-toting lunatics. Therefore they will side with the government to quell this Patriot rebellion. Again, the People must NEVER fire the first shot. If they do, they have lost the war.
what are you talking about? IDK if you are talking about whites or mexicans above the age of 21
My people and yours account for the vast majority of firearm violence and keep it extremely localized in our community as well between affiliated trash. White people only shoot others when they are police and lose it, or lose it and go on a rampage. and even then they account for a small minority relative to gang related violence.
California has a law where if you are interned in a mental institute they send police to search your home with a warrant. Happened to somebody I know.
The problem is that ATF and FBI along other agencies do not share information with one another. The DOJ can fix this by streamlining their data operations into a large secure database, but money, debt, and varying state laws on who can or can’t have a gun would make this really hard.
