The Founding Fathers of America knew that the government of the United States could turn on the people and oppress them someday. The sole reason for guns and the 2nd Amendment was so that the entire body of the People of the United States could protect themselves and fight back if/when the government tries to enslave the People. The 2nd Amendment has nothing to do with hunting or even protecting yourself and your property - although guns can and should be used to protect yourself and your property. Guns and the 2nd Amendment has EVERYTHING to do with preserving Freedom.

There is no correlation between gun policy (for OR against) and mass killings. America is bad, but you also have shit holes in the Middle East, Africa, and South America. The issue is with a culture that glorifies violence (applies to American media as well as ISIS propaganda) and a lack of internal unity to direct that energy elsewhere.

And I’m tired of people coming up here every fucking time this comes up saying gun laws in the US don’t work. They don’t work because states vary wildly with gun laws. NY has very strict gun laws, but its neighboring states don’t. You can literally just drive over, buy a gun, and bring it over. It’s legal! So the whole “these are illegal guns” argument doesn’t really hold up.
There are few federal laws overseeing and restricting the purchases of firearms because that’s where the lobbyists are targeting congressmen. Because of that, states have been left on their own to decide how to handle gun laws. Until that’s addressed, no matter how strict you make your gun laws, someone can just drive a couple hours away, purchase the gun legally, and bring it back with them.
So please, before you go on to say gun restrictions don’t work, look at the full picture.
