Yeah i feel you matriarch, but if that forest fire is being lit by the same people over and over, and then even new people come along to light fires elsewhere, eventually you have to do something other than just say, well its only 20 acres a year, we still have 500 million acres of forest. We are stuck between a rock and a hard place though in a country like america, where saying crazy shit is not illegal, and wont even really get you like banned from purchasing guns. I believe in free speech, but i dont believe anyone should be able to sympathize with the boston bombers, claim to be a terrorist, have a 10 month investigation into them by the FBI should be able to purchase a gun for a while. If they do, it has to be for work, and they have to go through an interview process beforehand.

But even if they did something extensive like a 2 year ban, it wouldve been up by now. Im comfortable with a 5 year ban for someone who did what omar did, because even after his investigation, he was still violent and crazy, to the point a coworker had to quit to get away from him.

I dont know if she knew of his previous encounters with the FBI, but nah, this was like his third strike. If she wouldve took the stand against him, he wouldve done a decent amount of time, which would give her time to start a new life, and move on. Now she gets to go to prison, and their child gets to grow up in the foster care system, and later find out her mother was a pussy, and her father a terrorist.

Furthermore, the vast majority of gun owners never do anything like this. They keep the guns in their personal collections, shoot them at the firing range, hunt, etc. If you want to make the case that guns are dangerous pieces of technology that end lives, well you could easily make the same argument for automobiles which kill way more people than guns. And unless you want to live in a future like Demolition Man, saying something is harmful or dangerous shouldn’t automatically give anyone the right to ban it.

And please, get the fuck over the semantics of whether this is a hate crime against homosexuals or a terrorist act. This really comes down to motive of the shooter, and no one really knows that but him. It might even be both, who knows. It doesn’t change the fact that people are now dead.

The reason motive is so damn important for people is because that’s how the public is going to be pushed to react.

If it’s a hate crime, it becomes a social justice issue. But I really don’t think pointing fingers and blaming others for systemic oppression is going to prevent such acts from happening again. All that’s going to do is further divide people.

If it’s terrorism, we get to go bomb people. But I really don’t think sending our military (who is made up of mostly poor people) into a meat grinder halfway across the world to make craters in the sand is going to prevent this either. All that’s going to do is give more taxpayer money to the military industrial complex and get people on both sides killed.

Here’s a thought: let’s do nothing. Let’s chalk this up to an unfortunate by product of freedom. Most people will not use their freedom to irrationally hate others. Most people will not use their freedom of gun access to shoot innocent people.

No need to talk about even the suggestion of confiscating all guns in america. Its not going to happen. At the very worse case scenario that still wont happen, gun manufacturing becomes illegal, and everyone who has one gets to have one, but we dont sell them anymore in america. Okay great, that means nothing because of the amount already in circulation, and the tens of millions more that gun manufacturers would pump out before that law went into effect. On top of that amount of illegal ones that will still flow into the country.
