"Order up, One Minette, for here or to go?" Voter - "Here, please!"

Second rounds soon here. Fingers crossed.

Yeah I really hope she makes it. Go Minette we love you!!!

meh I’d rather have Issac Minnete is cool though and I suppose every game needs a Roll.

Yes, I want Isaac too. It’s like, “do I want the world’s very first time traveling fighting style character, or do I want a character that could summon customers, Mike Z, other characters, and kickass by herself when she reaches high confidence”? It was a VERY hard choice, but I settled on Minette because her story would expand upon what we already have (Medici Mafia, River King etc.) rather than introduce too much new stuff (Isaac’s dig, the prisoner he is connected to, etc). Plus the time stuff sounds like a pain in the ass to balance and animate (past special attacks into supers). Still, Isaac is my #2 and I wouldn’t mind at all if he got in. I’d be overjoyed. But as long as Minette is in the running, I ain’t giving up on her. She made Top 4 last time. This time, she’ll win!

Call me a hater if you want, but I put Minette at the very bottom of my list.

It’s not even about her as much as her getting in over a character that could make people take a more serious look at SkullGirls from a distance without having played the game. I would rather have a character that looks interesting on a serious level than a furry…er…finny waitress who gets stronger off the confidence she gets from tips…I mean, seriously?! I would rather Adam or Sampson get in over her, even though I hate them in general, because they would help sell the game to people: not only are they male, they are not influenced by a joke-character playstyle.

Now don’t get me wrong, I love P.Wright and Dan, but I just don’t think SG needs a joke character at this moment because what they need right now is sales…and I’m sure a joke character is not the route to go for that.

Well, like I said in the previous thread, I voted for her because she was the very first character I wanted to be in the game that wasn’t already in it. Soon as I saw her in Ms.Fortune’s story mode, I was sold. Hell, I even made Minette-inspired palettes in KOF. [details=Spoiler]http://i.imgur.com/WDce2t.jpg[/details]

Assuming they keep doing these character vote things, she’ll make it soon enough. As someone who had high hopes for Wright in UMvC3, I’m hopeful (and at least more confident) that Z can pull it off with more grace than Capcom did.

This can only be Minette, simultaneously the most popular and despised character in the vote.

Quite harsh, but that’s ok. I respect your opinion, but I think people should vote for who they love and not care about how serious/joke like their style would play. Also a waitress who gets stronger with confidence which would make different movesets, has waitress theme moves, and have Mike Z and the rest of the SG team be assisting her as her customers is as interesting as it gets. I find that waaaaaay more interesting then a dude who fights with a chair and a dude with a tank.

Also Sampson isn’t, but you do realize that Adam will be a joke character right? Also Mike Z confirmed that Minette wasn’t going to be

And P.Wright is one of the reasons why people bought UMvC and they love him. And Dan’s jokey like style is what made him so loved in Street Fighter.

I’m pretty sure having a character like that won’t ruin the sales of the game, but could actually be better. Besides someone like her would be original to the cast in both personality and playstyle. I’m not trying to change your vote, but I really hope you change your view so you won’t miss out on her fun and how great she is.

Couldn’t have said it better myself, PNVJ.

Nice pallete work, the7k. The highest amount of #1 and #30 votes…y’know, that could be Annie too, but I wouldn’t count out Minette. Well all that matters is the #1 voters. In any case, I’m sure both are taking it to the next round. We got some tough campaigning to do, fellow Minette fans. Next to Annie and Beowulf, it’s gonna be a tough ride, but let’s get our girl in there!

you could probably mine a master’s degree worth of information in like six different disciplines out of these damn polls

I never understood these kinds of “campaigns” people are gonna vote for who people are gonna vote for. It’s great you’re so passionate about your choice but this whole thing just reeks of people having way too much time on their hands.

It’s because people want others to get interested in their character so that that character could get more liked and win. No ones trying to force their vote at all

You placing her at the very bottom, 110% perfectly fine.

Your opinion on her appearance, 110% perfectly fine.

Your belief that she’d be a joke character 100% incorrect. The only character who would have been a joke character was pre-vote Aeon, but this was debunked by MikeZ himself after the polls had started, despite her having inspirations from Dan (her other inspirations being incredibly varied and even oddly specific, being inspired by a character’s intro is a first) she’s never been implied to be a joke. Everyone automatically assumed she would be based on her vague inspirations list and her playstyle description (If she’s vaguely inspired by both FWest and Kyosuke, can we also assume that she’ll kick some serious ass? I believe so). Mike has also explicitly stated that he already has great ideas for her, was voting for her in the last round, and has already proven that he and L0 can break the archetype molds/preconceptions of previous fighters (Cera being a mobile grapper, Peacock being a keepaway with some pretty ferocious rushdown, etc). Suggesting that the inclusion of a single character, out of a roster of 13, would cause people to turn their noses up at the game is reckless. And even if, (hypothetically lets say) people did refuse, we can also assume that the other 12 (4 of which brand new) characters already available would appeal to different audiences and still bring in financial gains for the team.

Minette is not the reason for Skullgirls lack of success or the reason (if) it will fail, Skullgirls will fail without support from the community at large, meaning both tournament and casual players. Players who have incredibly varied tastes, some people want Minette, some people don’t. Some people want Beowulf, some people don’t. Some people want Brain Drain, some don’t. No two fans have to like the same character, that’s the best part about the voting process we’ve got presented to us.

Vote for whomever you want, that’s you voicing your opinion (in a constructive way) and you are entitled to it, but don’t act like one character will cause this whole thing to come crashing down because you personally don’t like her.

Darn that might average her to 15, it’s still good and it’s good enough to get her to the next round but I think her being a bit more higher would be better for her chances the next round.

Oh, I did vote for who I wanted: Panzerfaust, Beowulf, Issac, and Brain Drain…in that order as well, I believe. They all offer something to the table that I myself find exciting, and they are happen to be male characters, so they would also help along that line.

To be fair, Dan has a cult following that is much bigger due to Street Fighter’s greatness of being a cashcow for Capcom, and P.Wright has a cult following from his own game series…once again, one of Capcom’s finest. Even so, Dan was not featured until SFA (MvSF in the MvC series), and P.Wright has been only recently added: they never had a joke character in any of their early games. I don’t think adding any character that has the feel or aura of a joke character should be featured so early, maybe in the sequel?

I was unaware of Adam, I thought he was going to have soldiers fight for him, with the possibility of fighting with him simultaneously. I find the idea of a big character with a tank for a hand, a pro-wrestler with a chair he can setup, a time-traveling fighter that attacks in the future, and a character with psychic attacks that could control your allies or replay their attacks as a hologram sound more interesting than a waitress who upgrades when she gets tips. I mean, how different is it really from Frank West’s mechanic? And her fighting with waitress moves is just like P.Wright, only a change in occupation: she won’t actually fight in her animations. Of course, this is the SG team we are talking about: I believe they could make anything new and interesting.

Also, cameos made by the SG team in their own game means nothing to me: cameos of Maximillian, Chris G, Justin Wong, Infiltration, etc would be more interesting. I would love Max to help her in a fight, going ‘LET’S GO SON!’ during the hyperfreeze followed by ‘YO VIDEOGAMES!!’ during the super. That would complete my life…

She’s a waitress…who’s inspired by P.Wright (fighting with animations that are non-violent)…who gets confident after getting tips (a la Frank West)…who will wait on the SG team in-game…who got kidnapped in the original storyline (which inclines she actually has no fighting skill, and more than likely her moveset will reflect that)…where a good share of her fanbase wants her just because she’s moe…

Yeah, can’t take that seriously, sounds very much like a joke character to me. "-_-

Oh and you can guarantee her inclusion/exclusion will cause a lot of trouble either way: if she makes it, those who hate enough will stop supporting, but if she’s not so will those who really wanted her in.

OBJECTION! You’re saying that if something isn’t normal, it simply isn’t violent? Where does that leave the porcu-headed lawyer and the topknot chick over there… and the ungodly cool guy with the mask over here? Well, ForsakenM?

Yo, Forsaken M, she’s inspired by Maya. As in Maya Fey. As in not Wright himself. I see you didn’t read her character description, or the original post: she’s going to fight mostly with her customers, then when she gets all good and ready from tips she fights even more fiercely and more independently. Yeah okay, Frank West, but you said,

“Of course, this is the SG team we are talking about: I believe they could make anything new and interesting.”

Trust them. If you can trust them to make Panzerfaust interesting, a dude that has all the sterotypes of a big lug type character with a tank glued to his arm, surely you can trust them to make Minette worthwhile. I see you don’t like Minette. That’s fine, however, you can’t just go around on people’s threads with your jimmy rustler trying to get people not to vote for her. In fact, that’ll make them vote her MORE. So I’d go do something else.
Minette will tear the community apart? The same community that stayed together through the game’s CONSTANTLY delayed release? The same community that, on their forum, makes local tournaments and invites people over to play? The same community that donated $829,829 to a cause they weren’t even sure was gonna lift off the ground? The same community that’s been keeping the game alive on one system (and are patiently still waiting for the Xbox patch)? You’re saying ONE character will break us up? The only thing that will stop true fans of Skullgirls from playing the game is if the game is made illegal. And even then, I’d bet there would be underground tournaments.
We’re still gonna vote Minette, deal with it. If she loses, we’re not gonna throw a hissy fit, because hey all the characters will be fun and unique to play. If she wins, we’re not gonna throw a freaking parade on the bodies of our dead enemies (like a certain character “fan base” did to Minette when they won the last round). We will simply say “Yay!” and continue playing the game we love so.

Minette’s a cutie, but sometimes it’s more than just about cute; sometimes it’s about kicking ass with legendary chairs. Vote Beowulf.

Please keep your chairs on the ground here. They are used for sitting and eating, so that you may have the energy to vote Minette.
