Just called Silverdale Gamestop, and I guess the list is at 15 peeps now. Getting interesting. =P
I’ll be at the Issaquah Gamestop. I’m probably the only one on these forums that actually lives here. Get off of my turf, lol.
P.S. afterwards iSushi right next to it is damn good
P.P.S. there’s also O’Char thai food right next to that (i’ve lived in thailand and o’char has my seal of approval lol)
overconfidence is cute…
you’re not allowed to use sticks at the northgate mall tourney…
Picked up my copy of SF4 yesterday at Pacific Place EB games. Asked how many people signed up & they said they were not having a tournament & to go to Westlake one. So there you have it.
I can take him.*
- no I can’t
i went to go sign up at the issaquah gamestop today and like
there was already another name on the list (just one)
but the guy’s first name was Hiroto
i hope he isn’t a secret japanese fighting game ninja coming out of nowhere o_o
I might not go simply because it’s the day after Zach’s, and I don’t want to drive out to get a headband so I can get a shot at winning a pad worth half the amount of gas I spent going to both tournies.
Newbie here registered at the Westlake Gamestop, hoping to get past the first round
I know the guy, he’s a really good Super Turbo player, so be on your guard!
Just went to the Northgate Game Stop. Their sign-up list is full. Going by sheer numbers, I would recommend that people try to take the crown at locations with lower population densities. I mean, Game Stops are small as fuck as far as square footage is concerned. A 64 man tournament (given SFIV’s style of gameplay) would probably last several hours. Man, 4+ hours in a 25’x25’ space packed with sweaty dudes and shelves of games for systems that I don’t own. I’ll shoot for an early elimination.
Hope you peeps that are going to Zach’s tonight get enough practice in to take your Gamestop store tomorrow. Let’s take some stores! :woot:
Just got back from Gamecrazy tournament…Have they change their stance on bringing a stick? Will Gamestop provide sticks? Gamecrazy provided the SE sticks…Which were one of the prizes…
As far as I’m aware it’s on the actual Xbox 360 kiosk so you can’t possibly bring your own sticks…
Reporting back from Park Plaza, Lynnwood
10 people signed up. 5 people showed. Grabbed some random people before tournament to make it 8 and until 2:05PM Competition was not very high. Very lucky as I couldn’t execute anything on the controller. Used some old school tactics to win. Tournament was around 35 minutes.
Got my headband. :bgrin: Only 1 winner & not 2.
Good luck everyone else.
Round 1 complete
Off to Issaquah for round 2
there was like 9 of us at Redmond Town Center using exactly the listed rules. (Pads, default chars etc…)
I lost at my gamestop, but the guy who beat me seemed alright. I played Rog (should have done Sagat or Geif) and he played Ken. He had good spacing, never woke up Shoryu, knew about tick throws, and spammed fireballs when I gave him the chance. It was also a really close match. I was a little bummed, but its alright.
They randomly drew a name out of the losers to fill in a empty spot on the bracket, and I tried to convince them to let the losers fight for the spot. They almost did it, but decided to make it random at the end. No one could believe I picked Balrog. “Never see anyone play him.”
We had ten people at the Redmond Bear Creek GameStop - me (Gief), Gavin (EHonda), Corey/DanIsMyHero (MBison), StriderMike (Balrog), Richard/Crash99 (Blanka), and some other people. Gavin and Mike advanced, Richard 3rd, I got 4th.
Thoughts:
Charge characters have a huge advantage. It was stupid ugly watching Honda being played.
If you have to play on kiosk, sit up on your knees so you have the right angles for play - everybody was jumping randomly and doing other dumb stuff. Once I started playing on my knees (afterwards), I didn’t lose again. =P
Very cool of GameStop to put this together.
Also Gavin donated his Street Fighter: Legend of Chun Li movie poster that he got for winning to me, so I’ll try to put that in the house somewhere. Maybe next to the MvC2 poster?
reporting mill creek / 164th street GS:
yellow headband’ed! 12 people signed up, 11 people made it. I had a by in the first round, the top 2 made it to the next round. tourney was probably half an hour or so. next round for me is GS outside alderwood - where’s everyone else going?
Well i went to the Lakewood Towncenter & all i can say it was pretty fucking ghetto compared tot he gamecrazy tournament…I was late 4 minutes & that douchebag wouldn’t let me join…I ended up asking another employee & he said it was ok…
It was a rowdy crowd, i mean this is Lakewood…There was about 34 people who compete…Competition was below average…Your usual Ken, Sagat, Ryu scrubs…One guy used Bison which pretty decent but other then that the crowd did not care for my gief at all…
Anyway there setup/rules:
First there was no double elimination…We had EX2 sticks which was ok compared to controller but there as no fucking chairs, i was on my knees like a $2 hooker…
Then get this bullshit…I won the whole thing yet the guy who lost got to choose which prize he wanted…I was like dude i won the whole thing why the fuck does he get to choose the prize let alone get one since i won the whole thing…So i ended up getting a headband & the other guy got wristband & chunli poster…I was like fuck this bullshit i gave away my seating on Round 2…
The only positive is that that douche bag that didn’t want me to join wanted to play & being all cocky shit…Beat his ass badly & ended with ultimate/perfect…
I went to the Tacoma one at 2:02…and they wouldn’t let me enter. DAWOLF was there along with 8 others, he took 3rd?
The guy that won it was a horrible ken scrub, and it was even worse because the Ryu player was doing FADC’s…but doing htem in the most randomest places. After the tournament I stepped up and scraped 3 competitors 3-0 with bison. The 2 that advanced bounced out hella fast.
