Each Round 1 Contestant will be paired with another Round 1 Contestant in the best of five (5) 99 second matches. A contestant is eliminated when s/he looses three (3) of the matches. The winner of each Round 1 match will then compete against another Round 1 Contestant until **two **(2) Contestants remain. The two contestants will match off and a winner will be determined. The winner and the runner up will have the opportunity to compete in Round 2 of the Tournament.
So, doubling up on locations is ok…its just gonna depend on how players are seeded and re-seeded. It will be by luck that the last two players are SRK players (meaning they dont fight each other till the very end)
its looking one member per location is the best way to complete the takeover.
Metal, if you want Pioneer its yours dude. :wgrin: I’ll let you decide.
well shit if you dont want it, and Manco dosent want it i guess thats where ill go. thanks man :tup:only thing is i havent been to that GS yet (i havent lived here very long so im not so good with adresses) do you have any clue as to how popular that store is? i guess its kinda hard to say really… but Manco if you dont wanna claim that store i guess you can put me down for pioneer place. sorry about the jumping around lol.
No problem, whatever is gonna be the easiest. I’ll see if i can’t get more info for you on what there gonna do over at Pioneer. The center does get lots of foot traffic on the weekends but for tourneys and what not i dont think they get a big turn out cause its downtown.
This. I’ll try to come up with specific ideas, but I’m totally new to the SRK community, so that won’t be too easy (aka coming up with times and places to meet).
On the other hand, I’ve pretty much never used a stick. I’ve ordered sticks, but they won’t be here until Monday. In other words, should stick-only users show up for the SFIV tournament, I may have an edge on them in that regards.
I’ll see if I can come up with a way to help speed the process of adapting to the pad for my Portland-area SRK brethren.
Its gonna depend on if stores are gonna let players remap the basic pads to accommodate his/hers playing style and or character selection.
At this point, i’m not really sure who i’ll be playing with at the tourney. I think Dictator will be a hard adjust for me cause im so used to playing stick and I think charge characters will be hard to use on a pad (or that could be my own opinion) so i’m leaning towards a new character like El Fuerte or something like that.
Any tips you can share for us stick users is greatly appreciated Kendrik.
First tip: Decide right now if you want to use the analog stick or the d-pad. In most games, you can use either. I doubt that SFIV will be any different.
D-pad is a pain in the butt to reach for me, but I’m guessing it’d be a little more accurate for charge moves. Let’s face it, it’s easy to accidentally hit a “diagonal” on the analog stick during charge moves.
For me, I have little trouble executing dps and qcfs on the analog stick. It doesn’t compare with an arcade stick, but it’s generally doable.
But that’s me. You… you’ve gotta decide which control method you think is going to be more effective and comfortable for your short training time.
Something I actually find myself doing when I can (long live bus rides and boring classes)… is I actually work on training my fingers. You may not have opportunity for this, but if you do… get your hands on a 360 pad. After determining which character you want to main for the tournament, do what you can to force the specials into your conscious memory while executing the motions on the pad. Once you’ve done this a little… any time you get a chance… work from your conscious memory to turn those motions (even without a pad) into body memories. Sounds crazy, but I think it actually has helped me a little, and it can help you, too (especially since many of you could be starting from close-to-scratch with a pad).
That’s what I’ve got so far. More when I come up with it.
As for me, I’ll definitely be maining Ken just because he’s the most familiar to me in HDR and 3S.
Thanks for the tips Kendrik! I was definatly leaning towards a character with qc and dp moves im guessing your Ryu’s, Ken’s and Sagat’s will be extremely popular at the tourney because there solid to play on a pad. (both Ken and Sagat are in the running) and are good transitions from HDR.
May have to do that pad practice…might be a bit odd doing it on the MAX but then again i’ve seen worst riding the MAX.
That’s assuming that we have a lot of serious SF players in the tournament. Vague fans/newbies will (I predict) pick new characters like Abel and Fuerte. People without much of a clue will (again… this is purely my speculative prediction) probably lean towards the more bad-ass-looking characters, but even if they pick Akuma, they won’t really know how to zone or do anything effectively.
Be warned of going into anything overconfident and careless, but I’m still guessing that round 1 won’t be too brutal for most of our local stores.
Just keep your hands hidden. I’ve spent time on the MAX… this practicing most certainly would not be the oddest thing happening.
I have a old xbox at work and some of the guys get together to play some Hyper Fighting so I think I’m ok with a pad if I really need to use one. Plus I’ve had games with Money before I got 2 sticks and again was forced to use a pad.
I’m gonna go with Dhalsim since he has really good normals and I’m used to playing him on a stick.
YOGA!
