I mentioned those very points recently, when the topic of censorship was brought up. Those little things near and dear to your heart, being plucked away one by one. The absence of which either ends up leaving their respective characters more hollowed-out and homogenized with every subsequent iteration; Or almost completely different (Birdie).
At least im glad they tuned it down from IV. IV was way too goofy. I do miss the blood and vomit, and the loser mugshots. The loser mugshots were amazing.
I really don’t see why they can’t have a little blood, for ESRB ratings? I doubt that 10 year olds will be the new audience anyway…
The point is, I wish SF were just a little more on the serious than goofy side. And if it remains goofy let it at least have some class, like necro being able to corner combo with his tongue twisty tongue taunt move or sean using a basketball for set ups…not cheap shit like obnoxious voices, over-the-top ridiculous designs and popping eyeballs.
off topic I like to list the fighting games Dimps did before Street fighter IV
1 Digimon Battle Spirit 2001
2 Shaman King: Spirit of Shamans 2002
3 Digimon Battle Spirit 2 2002
4 InuYasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale 2002
5 Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2002
6 The Rumble Fish 2003
7 Dagon Ball Z: Budokai 2 2003
8 Shaman King: Funbari Spirit 2004
9 Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 3 2004
10 Yū Yū Hakusho Forever 2005
11 The Rumble Fish 2 2005
12 Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai 2006
13 Saint Seiya: The Hades 2006
14 The Battle of Yū Yū Hakusho: Shitō! Ankoku Bujutsu Kai 2006
15 Dragon Ball Z: Shin Budokai - Another Road 2007
Dragon Ball Burst Limit was release in the same year as the arcade port of Street Fighter 4 . oh and Dimps did a One Piece Game boy Advance game in 2004.
What matters more is what fighting games the people who directly worked on SFIV worked on.
In this case, it was this.
Prior to working on SFIV, battle director Yasuyuki Oda worked on Garou MOTW. Prior to that, he also worked on some of the Art of Fighting games and all of the Real Bout Fatal Fury games.
That said, this is no longer applicable to SFV since Oda is back with SNK as the director of KOFXIV, while SFV’s battle director is GG player Woshige.
Do you even play SF? Wacky shit has been in the games since SF2. Where the fuck you been? Also, as others have already pointed out, Ono simply agrees on art designs the concept guys cook up. He can request certain things get into the game, but besides that, most of the design decisions are made by other guys like the art directions and battle directors. There are various tiers in design and the top guy is rarely ever fully responsible for anything.
Plus, SF4 was based on Ikeno’s work, so the “art style” used in the game is not Ono’s, but Ikeno’s.
Man, all these stupid things I see posted on the internet anymore. I have to wonder, how the fuck these people survive day to day in the real world and how society hasn’t fucking collapsed in on itself yet…
You can’t just blame Ono for Chun being thick. Chun’s thickness started with Akiman’s design in her 3rd strike appearance. Before that she was mostly illustrated by Bengus who made her more athletic. But 3rd strike Chun was intended to be more mature than her younger counterpart.
I would think that Takashi Tsukamoto has much say as Ono does he was the director of SF4, and then there’s Hiroshi Matsumoto and Takashi Nishiyama who were executive producers along with Keiji Inafune when he was still at Capcom. Takashi Nishiyama was the producer for King of fighters 98, 97 , Real bout Fatal Fury, Fatal Fury 3, and King of Fighters 94. he was the director of Fatal Fury and Street Fighter.
I pick Elf and even Rufus over twelve, remy, necro, sean, having both twins (Yun alone or tag-team mechanic character pls), Ingrid, decapre, random Dolls, sakura, maki
How edgy. Forgive me if I feel you’re just saying that out of spite. Especially since scientific studies have uncovered that society is more accepting of recovering drug addicts than of fat people.
I’m not a big fan of many of the characters you’ve named either. But come on-- Rufus and ElF? Nobody believes you.
Fuerte’s moveset’s pretty nice. They seriously could have just made a skullomania skin with no eyeballs at least for the fella however.
Training room only combos are beautiful but when it comes down to the actual game the moveset of the fella gets boring quickly.
