projectiles don’t mean a whole lot; there are tons of characters in the sf4 universe who play just fine without them, i.e. boxer, rufus, abel, etc. if projectiles are that important, the only franchise would be like dbz or naruto. both of which make me throw up. (unless namco bandai doesn’t count or they lost the licenses, i dun really keep up)
No, all I’m saying is I don’t think any of that nearly enough to base speculation off of. Its just too vague, and like the other thread SK closed, the speculation of it is(IMO) just a hype train from Ono. I just don’t see much insight into what he’s thinking.
Me saying what I said in my last post wasn’t meant to be “clever” or anything, I was saying a pic like that is hardly any basis to figure out what is going on. And to prove it, there is not really any solid reasoning in the speculation in this thread. Not sure how you got me trying to insult or attack your thread came from.
My vote goes to WAIT UNTIL COMIC CON.
I could see this being SF5. Ono did say at one point that the SF4 series was going to end with SSF4 and there is no reason why they can’t move on to SF5. If this is the case the timing is not really that soon either. Most likely there will only be a trailer and an announcement made at comic con. There would still be a lot of work that would need to go into the game and I would not expect this to be released anytime before late 2011. One of the main reasons SF stayed popular back in the day is because Capcom released a steady stream of updates to the series normally with only a year or so in between a release (not much unlike what is happening now with HDR, SF4, SSF4, TvC, & MvC3). By bringing some sort of new fighting game out every 6-12 months it keeps the genre fresh and the average player interested.
The way you came off about the situation. See now that you’ve transitioned your statement your origin of thought are more clear now. Honestly I wasn’t trying to offer any theroy-fighter tips. I also believe I made it clear that this was something on my mind. I treat Forums just like a stat on facebook “what’s on your mind”.
Riddles however are suppose to be vague. That’s what makes a good riddle a good one. Your not suppose to obviously see what the riddler is hinting at. That’s obvious though. That being said; there isn’t much reasoning behind me making this thread other than I’m an enthusiast and just to see if anyone else thought about what Ono-san said. If so, what do you “personally” think the games are?
I hope I cleared up some confusion. Also I tried to send you a pm back, but your box is full.
Just based on hype… what can be so big? Capcom fighting evolution 2 lmao.
Unless i missed it, the translation was that there was a CLUE not a RIDDLE in one of his old tweets.
And my bet is that its here
I revise a walk-through of SSF IV. It’s carry hidden somethin… on Twitpic
"I revise a walk-through of SSF IV. It’s carry hidden something seeds. I brush up on next."
Ono’s english on his tweets are much better then this and there is no reason to revise a SSF4 walkthrough even with an arcade release coming unless its going to be a PC/DLC release. Id love to know what the japanese on the disk says
Heard it here, DLC + New Game (SF related or otherwise) is gonna be the announcement.
What if he did remake “CFJ” though? Would that be so bad? I mean it’s Ono-san he made “SFIV” work. So why couldn’t he do it with a off brand title like “CFJ”? I’m theorizing off your statement.
“A riddle is a statement or question or phrase having a double or veiled meaning, put forth as a puzzle to be solved. Riddles are of two types: enigmas, which are problems generally expressed in metaphorical or allegorical language that require ingenuity and careful thinking for their solution, and conundrums, which are questions relying for their effects on punning in either the question or the answer. Example: Hate is like a desert, you never know when it’s going to break.” (wiki)
After I say this I’m going to drop the word riddle, but when you look at how it’s presented doesn’t it appear to be a riddle? At least it does to me, and him presenting these clues are riddles in format. I don’t think, this was some random thought put out by Ono-san to just generate hype. He planned to do this. Leave clues, talk this up more at Evo. Look at when SFIV 1st came out and we all wondered who’s gonna be in the game? He dropped that clue the pig. It seems like a riddle to me. At least that’s how I’m viewing it.
I’m not flaming or insulting, it’s just your not the only person that pointed out the riddle issue.
It wouldn’t be a wise idea. How can Ono go from talking about how SSF4 is supposed to have “long legs”, then FINALLY get around to releasing SSF4 in Japanese arcades later this year…only to then undercut everything by announcing SF5? The timing is just not “right” to go into that just yet. They can definitely do the “new fighting game out every 6-12 months to keep things fresh” thing without having to use SF ALL the time.
There’s a reason why Capcom eventually lost some ground to the likes of SNK and Namco back in the 90s: people eventually got tired of seeing SF all the time, and those new players to the game offered just that. By the time Capcom DID offer the likes of Darkstalkers, Marvel and etc., the market was already stretched quite thin. If Capcom doesn’t want such a thing to happen again, they should do more to diversify their repertoire of FG franchises now, not later.

Well put. I like the logic behind that. So if you had to guess what would you say the release is?
Ugh, I forget how fast that thing fills up. I just cleared some space.
Y dont u talk with a little more respect? If you dont like the thread then y are u reading it? Forums are about discussions, opinions and speculation and if u dont dig that then u are in the wrong place.
;), I feel better now.
Like I said earlier, I hate people spamming opinions… AAARRRGGGHHH!!!
Isn’t spamming an opinion what the internet is all about?
For right now? I’m going with the Arcade UFO tweet that I found a day or so ago.
“A little birdie tells us Namco vs Capcom will be announced next Saturday. It’s Namco, so it will certainly be in arcades.”
I’d be inclined to go along with the musings of a fairly-renowned, big-name arcade. They probably have their own “eyes and ears” that keep them in the loop for things like this (if for nothing else, preorder/marketing purposes).
goddammit ono
