Yun = broken
Takes not that much skill to really be good with him in my opinion

Understand what the term broken actually refers to. Does Yun have multiple 9-1 matchups? No. Does his divekicks/pokes have invincibility, making it not possible to reversal them? No. Has every single Yun been winning the major tournaments across the world? No. Daigo has won Revelations and Norcal 9, however they would be the exception. Tokido won CEO 2011 recently. Poongko bodied Momochi, an insanely good Yun player and won Shadowloo. If this was like SSF2 Turbo, then you would have an actually broken character: Akuma. Someone who has almost all 9-1 matchups except for his mirror match, air fireballs that are impossible to counter, and insane damage output. But what you have right now is someone who can be beaten. Yun’s not even as good as vanilla sagat. Quit whinning. At the end, Yun isn’t broken and YOU are responsible for your own losses. If a scrub abuses a throw 5 times, it is NOT CHEAP. Calling something cheap or broken is simply an EXCUSE for your own INABILITY to win. [/Rant]
Well jeez i just wish my character had pretty much all safe moves to do
Welcome to SF4.
Yun is not as broken as everyone makes him out to be.Playing him at a high level is actually quite difficult…as every other character is.Try playing Yun against someone who can anti air consistently…you will find that he is much harder to play then. And the Sweep trade argument isnt a big deal i mean how often are you gonna land that in a match honestly? People just get way too upset about yun because they dont know how to deal with him yet. And yun doesnt have everything…to name a huge hole in his game,He’s missing reliable anti airs.

If you get locked down as yun and need to anti-air, you’re playing the wrong character.
As far as being overpowered, the problem really isn’t even Yun, imo it’s the rest of the cast. Isntead of nerfing Yun, CAPCOM should just buff more characters and make every character have good AND bad match-ups. The way it is now, most of the cast CANNOT deal with Yun pressure. What I would like to see is more like vanilla without 75million damage ultras.
(i’m only saying this because I play M. Bison and I want him to be a better character in-game than on paper)
Have you checked his frame data before stating that? All his lunges but ex are unsafe. All his shoulders are unsafe (light shoulder is not 0, it’s -3 on block so you can reversal it). His dps are obviously unsafe, and his palms require a fairly long time to charge before they are actually active. I’ll admit, Cl. Smp is too good, but if you look at yun against a good player, he will get reversaled and beaten out whenever he uses an unsafe move. If it’s so hard to play with your character, change to yun and see that he actually requires execution and a properly gameplan to use successful.
This
Vanilla Sagat had no bad matchups, and iirc only like 3 even matchups with himself, Ryu, and Akuma. Yun at least has plenty of counters. As long as a character is counterable, they aren’t broken.
Yun match up provides the simple ultimatum of learning the match up or get destroyed the choice is yours.
Yun ain’t even as dominant as 3S Chun and people were fine with her in tournaments.
Play a character that isn’t a piece of worthless shit then? Sounds like a good advice to me.
You forgot Dhalsim, Viper, Chun and Cammy. At a certain point people were saying that Cammy and Viper vs Sagat were 6-4 in their favor cuz they could shut down his zoning effectively and put pressure on him. V Sagat had just 23 characters to beat and had 2 bad match-ups. Yun has 38 characters to beat and his only bad match-ups are Gief and Viper.
I think its rather amusing that we have the anti-Yun side saying that Yun is OP, cuz he is too safe on block, has too many options, a newly found glitch (isnt the strongest point) and that most of the cast doesnt have the options to escape his pressure.
On the other side we have the “pro-Yun” side with the strong arguments that we just have to learn the match-up and that Vanilla Sagat was stronger for some subjective reason (even if Yun is winning more tournies).
Even with all the points mentioned to explain why Yun is OP we hear that WE are the problem and not the fact that he has a moveset that incomparable to the rest of the cast. Who else in the cast, except for Yang and Seth, can put up pressure as good as he does? Yun puts on pressure easier than both Seth and Yang do, but the pressure he puts up is continuous since his BnB puts him in a position to do another divekick. You either change that or make his defence a lot worse (health nerf or remove invincibilty on dragon kicks). Do that and he would be balanced since he would have godlike offence and terrible defence like it should be.
I get avoided too … ranked or endless … same deal …
I think it is just a new generation of players … they never knew the arcade days, trying to deal with difficult match up …
because now, you can run away, avoid and find another guy to play … you lose, no problem, I’ll find someone I can beat …
Furthermore if you feel salty, just send in an hate mail … you’re safe playing at home.
Then you ask capcom via forum or twitter for a patch…
GG to this new era :lame:
Because hit confirming being hit is an easy task to do.
Way to miss my point completely. There are plenty of legitimate points to be made about how good Yun is, but people are fishing for the stupidest, nearly universal things to complain about out. That, and his big, situational damage, which reminds me of kids who judge Pokemon cards by how much damage they do. They must think Charizard is the most broken shit ever.
I bet most of em coming from srk+jumpback happy shotos
I really love getting hatemails from opponent that did 0 links.
Just find better opponents, and add them as a friend. Good people will want to play someone who kicks their ass.
I might be late on this, but you don’t need to react to it. Just buffer the Ultra no matter what, or buffer whatever. If it doesn’t trade, nothing happens, if it trades you will automatically launch into whatever you buffered.
Same idea as buffering a fireball into your cr.mk with Ryu. If it whiffs, nothing, if it hits then boom fireball. You need a different result in this case (a trade) but since the sweep is not special/super/Ultra cancellable nothing will happen if you whiff or hit unless it trades.
I agree. I think that he should be NERFED, however he is still not considered OP with or without the nerfs. Like I said before, whether you win or lose, you are completely responsible. For whiffing a move, for getting grabbed, for not dping and costing the match, you are responsible for everything. Fei Long has an insanely pressuring moveset, and so does Ken. Yun can get reversaled at any time. Most yuns you play against won’t even know how to properly divekick. My conclusion is that he isn’t OP at the moment (considering that I have given CLEAR examples of when a character is OP: SSF2 Turbo Akuma for example), however he does require some nerfing and/or the entire cast should get buffed slightly to some extent to cope with him.
