So I should only play to win if I get paid? Or are you saying only people who get paid to win are allowed to use the characters that are defined as OP?
with the avatar and the quote, this is the best comment of all time.
I love how so many people have this imaginary “code of honor” or “special ruleset” that they expect EVERYONE ELSE to follow. Scrubs just complain and call everything “cheap”. But if i pick Yun and win, why should I stop? Is there a difference from performing 5 grabs in a row if I win doing it? No, its just you dont know the matchup, dont know the game, and sit there all salty and just complain along with the band wagon of scrubs. Yun haters are tied to made up rules that are coming from themselves about Yun that never let them really learn the game. Yun haters dont play to win. Im not saying everyone who doesnt pick Yun doesnt play to win, but those who whine and cry about Yun dont play to win, if they did, then they would pour hours on practicing the matchup and learning, and less time on these forums whining about Yun. The worse part is now Yun haters will NOT play against Yun’s, becasue now the scrub will only play in their imaginary little world of “no yun”. If they see a Yun, they refuse to play, because they refuse to change THEIR rules. Scrubs need to learn that playing to win means using every single tactic and option in a game to increase your chance of winning. If its picking Yun, deal with it, learn the matchup, and stop whining. Beleive it or not, good players abuse every single tactic that lets them win, scrubs find that “cheap”, because they dont play to win or it goes against their “ruleset”. I dont care about your ruleset, I dont have to follow them, I play to win, I will pick Yun.
And I love it when they say Yun takes less skill, because as we all know its the character that has skill, and not the player right? The lowest tier character can Perfect a Yun, if the player outplays his opponent. Its all in the player, dont get mad and blame the character, feel sorry for yourself that you fall for the same thing over and over again, dont take time to learn the matchup, or just plain suck at the game and bandwagon. anyone can beat a Yun, you just need to take the time to play to learn and not play to win, outplay your opponent and you will win.
Ill always play the twins. Haters are everywhere but i could careless, i play to win and abuse, your rules and code of honor are imaginary and no one has to follow them, stick to your imaginary bubble of “no yun” and go ahead and run everytime you see one offline or online. I guarantee in a big tournament, you wont get far. Becasue you never took the time to learn and spent it all here whining.
edit : This is just like the Smash Melee game, there is one character name Marth who has according to scrubs, OP edgegurading where you can literally press down and and the A button and kill most characters. All the scrubs called Marth cheap, and no one wanted to fight a Marth main. But even the best Marth player to date gets not only beat, but wrecked. How? by people who take the time and learn the matchup. by people who played to learn first and then played to win. No one wants to learn because that means losing, and they dont have the self control to keep learning knowing one day it will pay off. Losing becomes everything and then they get overwhelmed and start to bandwagon and complain. hard work pays off.
First of all, Smash Bros is not fighter (at least not to me) but a party-game. I will never accept SB as a fighter.
Second of all, scrubs will call anything cheap, like Blanka for instance. He’s annoying and his basics are easy to use, but not cheap. Thats enough for scrubs to whine about. But with Yun it wasnt only scrubs that were calling him cheap. You had a big part of the community whining, a lot of pro’s switching to Yun, commentators dropping hints about his OP’ness (even if they should be impartial) and Capcom admitting that Yun was made stronger BEFORE the game came out. This might raise your awareness about his strength a little bit.
I agree on this, but this is a double-edged sword. If you pick up the strongest character in the game, knowing that he has been made OP on purpose then you should expect all the hate that comes with it. Not everyone plays to win, but play for fun instead and they might not like people who are trying to get a easy win. So the moment you said that sentence you should’ve accepted all the hatred in the world.
Also, “playing to win” by picking stronger characters is for competetive players (who actually make money so they have to optimize their chances) or for ego-boosters who try to convince themselves that they win because of their skill and not the characters. “Playing to win” doesnt have to mean “pick the strongest character”, it might mean “become a better player and use your character’s potential to the fullest”. Switching to a OP character to get more wins while you’re not in a competetive scene means that you only care about the win and you dont care if you are in fact a good player or not. You’re replacing practice hours (for self-improvement) by playing a stronger character.
Still, there is nothing holding you back from just playing the character because you love his playstyle. Blanka players still play their Blanke even though people hate on Blanka. Although I find it hard to believe that anyone would suddenly be attracted to the twins without having played a dive-kick character first, if you truly love his playstyle just ignore the rest and play him.
Yes, but the amount of skill a Yun needs for a perfect and the amount of skill Dan/Hakan needs for a perfect are vastly different.
Well put Tiger-san.
nice to know that scrubs like pygmalion dictate ae balance. my god, you wouldn’t survive in other fighter besides cry baby fighter 4 if you kick out yuns and shit. like damn, i hate the community. too many bitch made niggas who don’t want to put in work. and before somebody say “but you play yang, you don’t know hard work” nigga i mained juri all throughout ssf4 and she struggled greatly vs top tier and fei and honda ( both 7-3 match ups ) so yes, instead of bitching like most of ya’ll, i was actually grinding trying to figure out ways to overcome shit.
I´m not. Capcom is and they admitted. But i guess we´re talking in circles here… No point in reasoning…
What is interesting to point out though is, if you actually “put in work” to “try to overcome shit” (which i think is surprisingly well put for someone so blind to reasoning) why does it say “shopping for a new main thx ae2012” in your status mate? No more “putting in work trying to overcome shit” after the adjustments? Double-standards much?
no, because i at least fight the top tiers. and yea, i’m ditching yang because i’m tired of boring ass weak characters ( which is the first reason i dropped juri ) but i don’t see how it discredit my post about putting in effort. at least i found my alternatives. all you did was hit the kick button like a bitch because you can’t deal with an bad match up.
You’re the type of player who would drop Taokaka in BBCS2 after she got her loop removed. The loop could deal 50% damage right off the bat without use of supers and was relatively easy to set-up (so yeah it was OP). In CS2 they took out the loop. She still played roughly the same and gave her new combo possibilities, but ofcourse her overall damage was lowered (pretty drastically) because the loop was removed. She was still high mid/top tier, but you’re the type of player who would say:
WHERE’S MA LOOP?!
I WANT MA LOOP!!!
OMG TOAKAKA IS GONNA SUCK SO HARD!!!
IMMA SWITCH TO MAKOTO! AND YOU SHOULD LEARN THE MATCH-UP AND OVERCOME SHIT!
Because even if you’re talking about “puttin in work” and “overcoming shit” you’re clearly avoiding it yourself by switching as soon as your character got nerfed. You even switched from Yuri because you thought that she was weak. How about “puttin in work” and “overcoming shit” son? I played Makoto in freakin ssf4 where she was worth 2 shits so dont talk about puttin in work.
Well hes getting damage nerfs across the board and theyre nerfing his command grab. I do think however we needed a little more time to figure stuff out before they did a rebalance…Yun might have an Achilles heel we haven’t found yet. But to the OP Yun is a strong character. People hate strong characters, its gonna be like that in the next version too, so you getting worried isn’t helping you.
if it makes you feel better, i actually mained ragna in cs1 and ditched him for tsubaki in cs2 lol.
I have no beef with you, but I have to admit, your custom title does somewhat ruin your credibility.
I don’t see what all the complaining over the Yun nerfs are about.
Outside of cr lk the hitbox/hurtbox on his pokes have remain unchanged.
His st mp, cr mk, and st lk are great counter pokes into his offense.
His palm meter build will not be as stupid but his BnBs build enough meter on their own.
His command grab isn’t as dominant but he never needed it to be it was just icing on the cake.
His anti air normals are untouched along with his great air to airs.
Added bonus of a new frame trap with st lk. If you know how to play SF you won’t be to badly affected.
Playing to win is using all advatages, tactics and abusing every single aspect of the game to win. No where in youre definition of playing to win had anything on winning, it just stated about “ones-self”. If its picking the best character in the game, then go for it. And does it matter if I am a good player or not? In the end, if I win, I could care less if im the worst player ever. I won. In a tournament, who gets the money, the good player or the player that wins? You can be the best non Yun playing person in the world, but if you dont win, you have gained nothing. What you are saying is " If its not broke, you still have to fix it".
Picking Yun for an ego boost is bad? If you win and gain an ego boost which in turn makes you more and more confident which in turn gives you a psychological boost, even if its not real, thats bad? You are saying that having a “placebo effect’ on whether or not its the character or players skill winning is bad. If the placebo of the character and not the player is working, why try to change it? once again, you say 'convincing themsleves THAT THEY WIN”. your sentence should have stopped there because what are they doing. They are winning. That means whatever they are doing for whatever reason, is working.
If you play for fun, then winning and losing should have no effect (affect?) on you. Having fun has nothing to do with winning or losing, if you get mad at all the Yun players winning, then clearly you are not playing for fun, you want to win if losing effects you that way. If you play fo fun, then you play, win or lose, because you love the game, not becasue you want to win. You are confusing “playing for fun” with “winning is more fun”. If people want to play for fun, the may i suggest playing Mario kart.
And in your last sentence, the player with the most skill will get the perfect. Not the character, its the player. One player may have to think a little harder to gain that perfect against a Yun.
I play for money (edit: if applicable). I play to win no matter what. i made the mistake of caring about if my main character was broken and that everyone would hate me, so I went with my second best. And I lost a huge amount of money for that mistake. I know whats its like to play to win, and thats why I do everything and anything to do so. I promised myself that I would never let what other people think change my mind on winning. the scrubs can hate, but in the end i wont make that mistake again.
so you only care about the money?
I thought this was a game where people enjoy themselves and tournaments were about proving oneself to
become the best player.
Are you this serious business outside of tournament scenes? I’d feel sorry for whoever you play against if so.
No, I care about winning, money or not. When you go to tournaments and feel the air just how tense it is, and everyone there is out for one thing and one thing only, to win no matter what, and get the prize, then playing for “fun”, at least to me, leaves. I dont play Smash or SF with my buddies because I know I cant play for fun and I will go serious on them. To some others its not as bad, but thats just how it made me. But I personally know countless pros in mostly the Smash Melee scene who NEVER play for fun, even doing friendlies they will not practice against a set match ( a match in which one player asks if the opponent can pick a certain character ) against a bad match up solely for the fact of they don’t want to lose. And if you want proof i can send you a youtube link on it.
Street fighter is a fighting game. fighting is a form of competition. I enjoy the game, and i enjoy winning. i dont enjoy losing, so i do all i can to avoid that. A tournament, you dont prove anything to anybody. A tournament cant be defined because everyone has a different definition of it. Some see it as a chance to win money, others see it as a chance to gain fame. Or some see it as a gathering of pro’s to see who has the most skill. Everyone has a different definition. I have my own and you have yours. But our definitions arent written in stone.
Dont make me out as someone who is mean or serious 24/7. To be honest you dont know me personally so dont try to imply that whoever has to play me will have to go through some serious hell storm, because thats not at all how it is. I give it my 100% everytime i pick up a controller, but i dont taunt people, or say rude comments, or take life serious in every way. I take street fighter serious and thats why i dont play against my buddies, because i know i dont play for fun. i only take games im good at serious, at everything else in life, i just joke around and laugh and dont give a hoot.
I grew up knowing what competition is and what winning is. i dont like being serious because honestly its boring and doesnt lift up anyones mood. But i do get serious everytime i pick up a controller for Smash or SF becasue thats what the tournament scene showed me and thats what i grew up in. Play to win, nothing more and nothing less.
I kick Yuns after I get tired of mashing DP.
Well looks like we found our consensus then. I´m not playing for all those reasons you mentioned. So i may kick yuns whenever i feel like it, since my reason is fun…
When you said this (and the fact that you were talking about tournament settings) all the things I said became obsolete. I was specifically talking about the people that are not (planning on) playing tournaments and arent playing for money. My bad that I didnt put it in more explicitly, it couldve saved you the effort of wrighting. But to correct some of the inclarities:
My problem isnt with tier whores and such. My problem is with tier whores who dont get why there getting hated on.
Basic psychology: People dont mind losing as long as they get the feeling that its a “fair” fight. Fighting a character that has been made OP does not give most people a sense of “fairness” so they hate on the character, cuz they get the feeling of a undeserved loss. Simple isnt it?
Nope, in a fight between 2 equally skilled players the Yun player will perfect the Hakan/Dan (or any other character that isnt Gief or T. Hawk). Dont know why you didnt understand.
If you have something on the line you should be able to pick up Yun without any guilt or having to listen to anyones crap. If you dont have something on the line you can still pick a character like Yun, but you absolutely have to understand that people can and will hate you for it. Thats all Im saying.
Somehow this thread has gotten even worse than the last time that I was in it. The fuck, man.
