I partly agree. Theres not adequate reason for people to hate the top tier atm cuz they didnt receive major buffs (except for Makoto). However Yun has too many options, this wouldnt be a problem if his options were a little bit crappy but almost all of his options are outstanding. They should’ve made some of his options a bit more crappy. Fixing Yun isnt like V Sagat who had way too much damage, its just the frame data that has to be changed a little. More start-up or recovery here, less active frames there and he’s ready to go. My main complaint is his EX lunge since imo no character that has a command grab OR a dive-kick deserves to get close that safe and easily, but to top it off he can combo into Ultra from it. Thats pretty broken imo, the rest of his moves just needs some tweaking.
Also, I dont care of what the pro’s say, if Yun’s winning more than V Sagat somethings wrong.
so he isn’t op or unbalanced in the game he actually is played in because if he was in a different game he wouldn’t be as good? that makes no fucking sense.
Because vanilla was full of broken shit but back then almost no one complained. And the game was actually fun, unlike super. If games Are too balanced they get boring really fast. Look at 3s and mvc2…broken as shit yet people played it for 10+ years. Guess players weren’t spoiled scrubs back then tho
im pretty sure when sagat hit you with a dp fadc roundhouse ultra and your life went down 2/3’s, people complained.
and i beg to differ, i think when a game is balanced its more fun, when you see a large diverse amount of characters being picked compared to the same 2-3 guys being used over and over.
Vanilla sagat was much stronger than yun, sagat is still considered A tier(and has a good match up against the twins), and compared to vanilla he is crap, but he was not the only strong character, people forget about akuma who’s is million time better than the ae akuma(and that character is still considered A tier as well), there was also ryu, rufus, and viper a character that could defeat any broken character.
AE still has about 8-10 characters that can be used to be competitive. Not to mention that at the level you and I are playing (and 99% of the people on srk for that matter) tier lists don’t mean shit anyways. The better player will win anyways. If you Are losing to someone and blaming it on the character maybe you should just start thinking that they’re simply better than you. But i guess that’s too hard and blaming the character instead of your shortcomings is much easier and makes everyone feel better.
i never lost to a yun yet in ae i just understand why people complain about him, its not because they lose to him, because i don’t think they win every single fight when the opponent picks someone else, its the low risk high reward bs he has. having a move that gets you in close for 1 bar, can juggle into ultra, pushes into the corner, on block leaves you at frame advantage is pretty broken. having a strong palm strike move that is safe to whiff to gain alot of meter and has a stupid hit box that lasts longer then the attack animation. a shoulder attack that has hitboxes on both sides of his body, even though he attacks you with one side, while in contrast to another char like juri who’s ex pinwheel attack and ultra 2 spin around and only attack from one side. his DP flying far on whiff which makes it safe from hard punish by most of the cast.
most people that complain about yun are talking about those things that make no sense, not because they have salty tears from losing.
@tali: Juri Ex pinwheel is very annoying for me. It active frame is huge, and it cover everything except her back.
I actually like the shoulder hitbox, I think they should keep it because it is really fun. The other thing like ex lunge, ex grab (and normal grab), palm should be nerfed
New character Yun is stronger than 90% of cast…Blame it on the weakness of other characters.
All characters should have weaknesses derp, V akuma had low hp and crap pokes, V Sagat cant hit confirm well for combos and has less tools.
The only way this is going to be balanced is that there are nerfs to nearly everyone and only buffs to shit tiers like gen. I would not like everyone to be stupid strong and turn the game into BB or someshit
I understand Yun is op and everything but there is way too much hate for that character online. Ive played people with yun and all they do is sit back and taunt and act really douchey but when I play the same people with adon they act entirely different. I stopped playing yun online and only use him against friends and in the arcade and other casual sessions
I alt yun (main Akuma) and I can say the hate is well deserved.
I can’t even play him well enough yet but I can tell you that I get away with so much shit online that you shouldn’t be able to, playing like a true scrub here.
That being said, I don’t want to see him overnerfed. Rather I would see others be able to compete with him. Basically all I’m saying is that he should need more risks or be able to get punished harder for some of the shit he can get away with.
man, OP, i watched your youtube vid and it just looks like ur opponents SUCK. no offense, i’m sure you’re a lot better NOW than a full month ago, but holy shit. i’m not surprised people run the fuck away from you. you non stop do palms on their wakeup, and then they can’t counter it, they RAGE. the cody guy you posted couldn’t adapt to your mashing of JABS. like WTF man, the guy was obviously a uber noob. he had no concept of frame trapping and shit. a lot of shitty players online avoided me too, back in vanilla and ssf4. and i’m in the japan region. top players will avoid u if they just narrowly beat u and wanna hold on to their victory, but i think if you’re playing GOOD players, they’ll suck it up and fight you.
oh and yun is SOOOOOOOOO not noob friendly, although this thread is a month old so i’m guessing u guys all know that by now lol. i just started playing ssf4 AE about 2 weeks ago, and learning yun was a fucking challenge. even now, i still sometimes lose to guys with 1000PP when my PP is at 3500. i really don’t think he’s scrub friendly. scrub friendly is like… GIEF. i would never ever lose to a guy with 1000PP with gief. he’s just so basic and easy to cheap guys out. anyway, i think TS, it’s your play style that pisses people off. you’re doing things that they particularly can’t adapt to, and thus blame the character. back in ssf4, a lot of people quit on my bison cuz i just kept doing stomps into cross up punchy thing. it’s SOOOOO easy to counter, but people who couldn’t counter it, gave up.
You must really suck at fighters if you think Yun isnt noobfriendly or at least havent played a decently hard character/fighter yet. If you’re losing to 1000pp players it could only mean 2 things:
-They’re actually good but dont play often or a lot of endless battles
-You suck and have 3500pp by playing a lot and winning from scrubs
I dont play ssf4 ae that often so I only have 1600pp, yet when I play Im constantly matched against people with 3000+pp and beating them pretty consistently. Makoto vs Gief is one of the hardest match-ups for Makoto yet my Makoto almost always win in that match-up. Really scrub friendly is like Blanka and the shotos not Gief. Gief actually needs very good spacing.
Ever tried to do a kara-karakusa? Makoto’s basic controls are scrub-friendly, but to use her even decently you absolutely have to know her frame data inside out and you have to make your decisions count. She has no spammable moves, no safe way to get in, a bad wake-up game and heavily relies on having meter. A scrub might be able to execute her moves, but wont be able to win matches since she requires very good reads and execution of tactics.
