We were asked by IG about it and so far, no one was able (or tried?) to give them something even useful (except the kara EX thing).
Actually, there is also no consensus about this really being a bug as it only happens from time to time for a few people.
Looks more like an unknown hardware incompatibility to me. It may just not happen with other fighters cause they doesn’t handle inputs the same way 3s does.
Yes this happens on Xbox too. I’ve done it a few times.
The replay problem where it stops following your inputs and spazzes out on its own then none are left so the characters stand around until timeout I sent by e-mail to them might’ve been too late. A bit more interesting than the example they gave with the Hyperbomb freeze. But it might be in that group of “Random hangups and locks” which they don’t detail what was fixed, because they told me they would at least look at it.
it has always been basically “no one knows if the EX drop is really a thing, or what would cause it, or if it is OE specific.” we had a thread where we could try to figure it out, but no one came up with much except the negative edge thing. so I think the feeling is basically “if you think EX drops are real and OE specific, do some testing, figure it out, and let everyone else know.” no one has really been able to that so we’ve dropped the issue.
Could be a speed issue. I know when I practice in MAME every now and then I get an EX drop and I’m using 3P and 3K macros. Could be my controller, could be emulation, could be luck of the draw, I dunno. It felt like it happened more on 3SOE for some reason.
if anyone was deeply invested, they could try the same thing Ryan was doing back then (EX Mantis Slashes in training mode on macro) in MAME or FBA, and turn input display on. every time you get an EX drop, take a look at your inputs and see what the game saw. might illuminate what goes on with OE too.
To further expand upon what I said earlier, I was wrong about hitting all six buttons and having an EX come out… Sorry about that Tebbo… = ( I could have swore that that was the first thing I tried a long time ago and it worked just fine. Now that I can test with FBA, I can tell you that if you hit any opposite button at the same time as the EX (or negative edge…), the EX won’t come out.
3P+3K macros = Fierce Fireball
Short+Jab+Strong = Strong Fireball
Any held button +/~ 2P+1K = Non EX Fireball
As I said, if you negative edge any during the EX input, the game registers it as a down input, resulting in a “dropped” EX.
On 360, if you repeatedly rewind in quick succession, it can result in a frozen console. There are actually many glitches with replays, such as, if you rewind from specific sections to others, usually during “color changes”. This can result in a character having crazier colors than the patched inverted color glitch.
I wish they could have added what DSR has… If you pause a replay, you can hit RB to go frame by frame!! That’s awesome, and it makes it very easy to tell what happened in specific situations.
I thought about asking for this again only yesterday seeing how hilarious Q looks being Neutral Grabbed by Oro. All those lean frames before Oro latches on to his head.
Want to make sure I’m clear in what I’m saying. I’m sure the bug exists in the arc version, but I think the only reason people are noticing it now is because of the speed difference in the game along with lag and some other unspecified reason (maybe input buffers are held longer, I dunno). I don’t think it’s a big deal as it doesn’t happen often, probably like 1 out of every 100 matches, but I don’t remember it ever happening on arc. Game speed is the likely culprit.
I think they’re saying the input issue wasn’t the presented negative edge issue. I know for a fact(maybe not fact but a good hunch) it’s an issue with reallocating inputs along with the re-synced frames like ggpo does it. For example, on arcade and ggpo, because of rollbacks due to uneven delay settings one character will input before kill frames on his screen(say, before a super), but because the synching has to be “balanced” to accommodate both connections (which plainly I think is bullshit because tenren low forwards me out of grabs with his fios, he seems to love low forward and isn’t ashamed to admit to it) the rollback might place the buffed input that occurred before a super after it and so the action will not be executed appropriately and we’ll get a perceived dropped input. This is similar with the EX attacks except that instead of super it’s cutting start up frames and maybe something gets messed up in there.
Once again, I can’t say this for sure but lemme put it in a scenario for you.
I’m using oro and tebbo is using his sick ass Q.
I do my chicken combo and end it by juggling with a super(untechable knockdown) but mess up my infinite so I have to use regular wake up pressure. I time something like a safe jump, but don’t really go for a safe jump. Instead I want to bait him into his super or his grab and so I jump at him, land as he is starting to get up, and then jump out. He does super like I anticipated and according to my screen I’m already in the air. Because he supered and it killed frames (or cleaned up the input array) and sent me back in time, Oro is just standing there and I’m holding up still so I eat hard fist. He then taunts and wins the round because I’m throwing a tantrum off-game.
I think that does happen a lot. online wakeup in particular seems to be a weird mystery zone where shit that never happens offline happens routinely. feels more like SF4. also parries disappear into the void.
as far as offline goes, I’ve never seen EX drops except when I’m cancelling. and at this point I pretty much just assume “oh I got a negative edge there. I should work on some basic execution in training mode tonight.”
as confusing as you wrote it aside, i think you might be on to something here. i haven’t played in a while but i do know shit like that happened online but offline i didn’t notice.
So, this July/August will be the 2 year anniversary of 3SOE’s release and still no patch for something that looked pretty much done in that Dive Kick stream. Oh and in 5 months from now everyone will be on PS4 or even in rare cases XBONE. Basically the online population will be guys like us. All 5-10 people.
Its a clever ruse to get us to consider more XBL subscriptions. I forgot to tell Bob that’s what I did. Went a few months without one expecting the patch to be in by March. Jokes on me. But I’m paid up til next March. And still 15k from getting back over the 0 Rank. telesniper’s Parry All advice I thought was only for the VAULT points/in game achievements. Everybody has more than enough of those. And I only try to parry Aegis.
I read some fun topics on what people wanted to see in SF3:OE from 2 years ago since then. Forgot how I found those.
Launch games aren’t that big a deal and from everything about the new Xblox it will just steal your money. And the controller issue being sorted out for Sticks.
“So here is what’s in the patch… MARNETO MARNETO PLUSH BUY NOW KEITS KAPPA SKINNY TIES MARNETO”
The only possible good that could come from this is that Capcom commissions IG to do a Steam release of all 3 titles they worked on.
Snowball’s chance in hell with that happening. Than again, Sega has been selling emulated versions of Comix Zone and the Sonic games for years on Steam even though downloading the roms is easy as shit. So who knows.
