Hmm… Thanks for that correction. Didn’t know that… Honestly… I just wanted to bitch about online man… So much mashing… SO MUCH MASHING…
We had mentioned just setting the cpu to block during parry recording so it doesn’t mess up your timing for red parry stuff.
You can still just do the motions as if it isn’t being parried, but it’s kinda silly being unable to make the cpu just block while recording.
yeah, my local 3s scene has been sluggish lately, so I been playing quite a bit online, its impossible to go into kara grab mix ups with chun, people always mashing something as soon as you get near them.
To be completely honest, in Mak v. Chun, I don’t play that shit. I will mash something if I feel it coming. That’s not a game I like playing. Vs. Chun if she’s doing nothing then I have to do something.
If I feel any throw from Chun it’s either UOH, c.lk, lkxxhayate, or insta-air tsurugi. Playing a slow meditative game vs. Chun is not entirely in Makoto’s favor because that allows her to pick and prod Mak apart.
Nothing more annoying than getting tagged by hp and f.hp (Dudley) online KNOWING I can easily parry them on reaction. The f’ing jolt of online lag makes simple things like them impossible.
I like the dynamic music, in 3S the music doesn’t “reset” after each round, it just progresses into the next part of the song. In the PS2/dreamcast version the arranged music didn’t “change” at the start of the round, but it would wait until the first hit was landed in the next round to start changing, in my opinion that was remarkable and would really build the tension in the match.
I hope they don’t just patch out the dynamic music, but make it work like the PS2/DC versions.
I think the arcade versions didn’t have dynamic music at all.
Where’s the IronGalaxy email again?
Anybody want to save some time and ask for us if they will have a presence @ EVO to sit down with not just top Sponsored big $$$ players like some “EGuy FLOE 40k Salary Triforce said so,” or busy dudes like Nuki, Momochi, MOV, Daigo (hopefully instead some Kokujin, KSK) etc.
But people actually interested in the improvement of SF3:OE.
Panel to go over everything again may not be needed. But instead of having to individually get some people flown out their way, why not use EVO as a resource for lots of input directly. Not quite a “loc(action) test” since its far off to expect a new build in 3 weeks, but the same general idea of getting lots of info to jot down, bring back to consider and work on. Get a lot more specifics in person.
In a perfect world this would’ve been done on day 1 of 3SOE development but it may be too late to do that. I can imagine that they don’t want to spend a fortune to do this patch. It’d be nice if it were possible. That’s why I said they should get Ryan on Skype.
One thing I never understood is why they did not get the help of 3rd Strike players with the development of 3soe. Mike Z was very vocal with the development of Skullgirls and took input from people who were going to play the game. We were basically left in the dark on 3soe up until Derek Neal started showing up at every single game expo demoing the Daigo trial.
Imagine if Derek or someone else working on this game made posts on this forum asking, “what do you want/do not want to see in 3rd Strike oe?” “Should we revamp the sound fx, change the meter sizes, and upgrade the hud?” These suggestions would have been met with extreme negativity.
If the reason why they did not seek the help of 3rd Strike players is because someone refereed Iron Galaxy to Floe because he is a “fighting game pro”, well…that really makes me mad.
I would guess corporate bullshit hindered this.
Don’t forget. Capcom told IG not to use Ping Numbers and they had to use those fucking colors. God knows what other mandates they imposed on them.
Remember when Ono was leaking screenshots of the game from his office? What was Ono’s role in 3SOE anyway? I don’t even think I saw his name in the credits (aside from sound engineer). Was he demoing the game? Did he have any input on it? Etc.
i remember when the game was revealed at some summer gaming event, then we went for months without knowing anything aside from the logo until the Adam Tensta trailer was shown. googling it, ono emphasized that the game had just started development so players should speak out about what they wanted. i guess there just wasn’t enough communication since we couldn’t have said “don’t change the HUD, music, sound effects, etc” if we didn’t know those things were going to be changed in the first place.
just the other day i was wondering about what happened to Derek. he plays 3S and has an srk account, but aside from a couple exchanges, communication with him has been more or less non-existent.
Certainly would have nothing to do with my avatar…
Yea. I feel as though we were left in the dark for all of 3soe. Even with the secret tourney, there wasn’t any way they could have gauged a proper feel of this game.
It’s really unfortunate that most of the offline problems could have been avoided had they just reached out a little bit.
it seems like they just had no idea about a lot of stuff. like did they really have that secret tournament on laggy monitors? they couldn’t have given the community exactly what it wanted because they had no idea what it wanted and didn’t really make a huge effort to find out. you can’t write a love letter to the fans when you don’t know the fans at all. they will get a restraining order on you.
My rank glitched out a long time. My score now shows as negative(insert random number here) and my rank is always 0 now no matter what. It happened after someone dropped on me one night. It hasn’t corrected itself since.
If you haven’t already, email them to see if anyone from IG will be at Evo. If you are still going maybe you could help them out with the patch or at least get in touch directly about it.
As far as tech heads and also SRK or better yet 3s heads
Pherai and jedpossum as mentioned earlier in here might be the candidates in mind as well in that aspect. Have seen jedpossum do cool stuff with his ‘console’ screenshots of how his desktop looks like during game code unearthing SF:EX and TMNT tourney fighters stuff.
Though of course, whatever your experience is with computers & training never 100% aligns up with their projects on game coding/publishing, so I won’t assume and let you guys answer if you’d like to, but “Changing PS2 version --> closer to Arcade” is quite vague.
It may not be as crazy as the mythical SF2 and its myriad of ports:
Probably never to get it quite right. Seems difficult from all accounts all the way up to “the devs themselves in some areas didn’t know how it works, like a product of accidental engineering” hence cancellable normals into specials, left in cuz that shit is fun.
Seems to be the opportunity in a lifetime of a major Japanese company, thru way of an outsourced American one to get some direct fan input in terms of getting in there and changing / coding, though possibly as strictly volunteer which might not be your flavor. And more so, that they couldn’t get it right thru neglect despite nice profits, it’ll take a community rally around and a developer who doesn’t want this to be a black eye on their record, some kind of crazy stars aligning - though the story’s not over yet. Keep your spirit up, hoping for the best outcome.
One other thing i think which is important : save settings (guard, position etc…) on training, so annoying to do it each time…
Do you guys know if 3soe runs at 60 fps? if so, do you guys know if 3s arc runs at 60 fps?
Boo to the no NG/2I Backgrounds! My most wanted piece of dlc and all they could muster was some pallet swaps and some videos
