What to do for anti air? Which DP?

I have so far not seen Fierce lose to anything.

Can someone corroborate this, but Oni’s dp’s are a lot more vertical than Akuma’s and other shoto’s no? They seemed like they were any way. All dp’s good AA, difference in damage, recovery, etc.

also cr.HP is great anti-air. Interestingly, I successfully AA’s with b.MP. It seems like it has a larger vertical hitbox than it should.

I have no hard data on this, but I got that impression too; Oni’s DP seemed to completely whiff a surprising amount, even on opponents who were standing fairly close. Then again, I had played Sagat immediately before that, so anything will feel like it has terrible horizontal reach when compared to (kara) TU.

Between that and the inability to FADC it, I pretty much went to only using it in combos and as anti-air.

You can FADC it on hit, but not on block. You just need to wait till the 2nd hit.

Yeah, I understand that. I just mean that I tended not to use it in situations where I wasn’t 100% sure it was going to land because of that fact.

Cr.lk, Cr.lp, Cr.hp into Goshoryuken will wiff but! if you use Exshoryuken it will land the ex shoryuken has more range on the ground.
so a very good damage combo is Cr.lk, Cr.lp, Cr.hp Ex Goshoryuken which does amazing damage. remember the Cr.lk, Cr.lp, Cr.hp is incredable range because the Cr.lk hardly pushes the opponent away while the Cr.lp pushes the opponent farther away than the light kick.
the optimal combo starter for oni is Cr.lk, Cr.lp, Cr.hp it will even combo after a cross up mk which in its self shows you the great range this combo starter has. i suggest all of you to try it tell me what u think

also when you got a hit confirm and your opponent is standing do Cr.LK. Cr.lp into target combo 2 into shoryuken great damage! target combo 1 will hit crouching oppnents but with the great range Cr.lk, Cr.lp, Cr.hp has its hardly used target combo 2 will wiff on crouching. so get that muscle memory down on standing hit confirm combo

I think I mentioned this on another thread, but :f: + :hp: is considered a projectile attack; don’t use it in situations where the opponent is likely to use a projectile-immune move (specifically Yun’s shoulder move).

Question: I’ve never played Akuma before, and I am having trouble with the timing of the electric fb (hcb.p). Is there any particular situation I should be looking to use this move? Or how do I force the opponent into a situation where they have to block or eat the electric fb? At the moment, all I seem to be doing is giving opportunities for opponents to jump in, and/or gain space from full screen.

I dunno if anyone noticed this, but his neutral HK has some interesting properties. It hits twice, and the second hit causes a hard knockdown against airborne opponents. I tried this out in training mode, but the hitbox feels really small, I have a hard time connecting the hits against dive kicks and cannon spikes. Not as hard to connect against regular jump-ins though.

after a normal front/neutral throw, you can do hp electric ball and force your opponent to block the fireball while you can whiff a lp shoryuken to build meter. during other times, you can use the lp version since it has the lowest start up time, or if youre doing fireball war against another fb character, you can throw mp version or hp. dont be predictable with throwing the fireball, thatll make it easier for people to jump in. maybe throw one, and then just whiff a jab or do nothing, if your opp jumps in, AA him properly.

It’s a shame that Oni can’t FADC into his shaku like Akuma and Evil Ryu can.

Any combo ending with SRK can be FADCed into ultra. EX hadouken can be FADCed into ultra. You can confirm EX tatsu in the corner for an easy ultra.

Two quick questions: I’m not sure if I heard or read this, but is it true that Oni’s medium punch Fireball (Gohadouken) is the best one to use because it has the fastest recovery? Can anyone confirm or deny this? And since his Hurricane Kick (Tatsumaki Zankuukyaku) is armor breaking, has anyone tried it against Balrog’s EX dash punches yet and/or focus attacks in general?
