Is the LP version of Rakan Dantojin(slash special) the only one that’s safe on block?

They were talking about his strong electric fireball. It recovers faster than the fierce version and it beats regular fireballs.

I’ve officially decided (for better or worse) to main Oni. So far I’m loving everything about the character but in order to proceed in training I’d like to know…

What kind of character (as it appears now) is he shaping up to be?

Poking, Turtle, Zoning, RushDown, Fundamental, or any combination of a few? Your thoughts.

I don’t think he’s a rushdown all that much, but all the others that you mentioned he can do very well. Very good pokes, lots… LOTS of ways to keep opponents out.

He has the versatility to fulfill any of those roles to a certain extent. Personally, I really enjoy Oni’s poking/turtle game, his f.FP is incredible, and s.FP is just a ridiculously good AA.

I agree that he’s a jack-of-all-trades to a degree. Last night I played a few matches online and just tried to concentrate on strictly defensive poking. I find with Oni, we are really going to need space control. Once you can keep your opponent at a certain range, there’s little they can do vs. Oni’s pokes. I was netting around 500-600 damage just from st. Fierce, f+fierce, and proper AA’ing.

On another note…

Why is st.short xx Fireball so gdlk?

With color 12 (the pencil like one) the glowing effect on his hard attacks disappears.

Don’t think I can reiterate this enough. His st. short has MAD range. Also lots of pokes that beat cr. MK lose to this. It might have almost Sagat st. LK range on it.

My sentiments exactly. Therefore I’ve been using this string alot in T.Hawk/Zangief matches…

cr.short, cr.jab, cr.jab, st.short xx Fireball. Pushes them far back enough to avoid mashed ultras/360s and leaves them at ‘Oni’ range which is prime for his poke game.

That give enuf range to cause THawks 360s to whiff. damn that is alot of range.

I have a couple of questions that I cant answer myself while im here at work:

  1. can we combo into cr:hk:
  2. is it not possible to FADC the 2nd hit of a SRK on block.
  3. am I right to think that j:lk: can be an instant overhead.
  1. As of now, it doesn’t appear so. I doubt that anything will be discovered.
  2. Nope. That would be semi-broken in my opinion.
  3. Not sure. Worth checking in training.
  1. No, not without forward tatsu xx EX lv2 focus attack, which leads to much better moves.
  2. The second hit whiffs on block, so no, SRK cannot be FADCed on block. The second hit of an EX SRK hits, but it cannot be FADCed on block either.
  3. It can hit taller characters like Sagat, T. Hawk, Seth, and Zangief, but not when they are crouching. You can do a fuzzy guard setup, but it doesn’t lead to anything, but you getting punished. It only does 10 more damage than SRK chip, so it’s probably not worth it.

I have a question. What is it about Oni that keeps making my FADC’s mess up, the lk slice in particular. I can FADC for all characters no problem, but with Oni I just can’t for the living daylights in me FADC the lk slice after the TC. Is there something about Oni’s dash or something? I’ve never had this problem and it’s driving me nuts, I’m too afraid to go for an FADC in game due to this as I’m scared of burning 2 meters for nothing, and I can land a good 450 damage if I FADC a slice, it’s really annoying me :frowning:

IDK man If I were you I would just hit the training room and do it 10x on each side until you consistent. I havent had any trouble with it myself. Just wait til he hits then FADC.
What was messing me up is the he cant FADC his SRK on block which is lame to me.

Yeah, haha, in the rare case that I do SRK, I’m in a habit of FADC’ing if they block, which is totally useless and in the rare case I FADC on hit as I was throwing it out there for the hell of it thinking it would be blocked, I end up wasting 2 meter’s which is slightly annoying.

I guess I will have to hit the training room for this combo, it is really cheesing me off. Add to that the amount of fucking Yun and Yang’s I keep fighting, it’s so boring. It seems as though 95% of all online players use the twins now, it’s a joke.

If you do FADC SRK on hit, you can do a forward ground pound for extra damage and an untechable knockdown.

I have trouble with FADCing slashes also. I’m too used to FADCing fireballs with Seth.

Haha yeah, I’m just used to FADC’ing fireballs and SRK’s, which are easy mode. I get the timing of hitting the FA right, but Oni never seems to dash out of it for me, I have to mash dash like crazy but because of that, I can’t really follow it up, so I have to stick with the fireball FADC’s for now, although that extra 60-70 damage would be nice :frowning:

sMK is godlike, it’s like a mix of Bison’s and Sagat’s sHK with less damage.

I am loving the variable timing fireballs. Just killed a higher ranked dudley because of it :smiley: (of course, all dudleys are higher ranked than me…:()

I’m surprised nobody has picked up on the ridiculous range of st. Roundhouse…
