Ha really? Trying to use it on the same forum that it was created on? xD
ono trolling hard like usual. it’s going to come out when it was planned to come out, like spring or summer.
That picture was made by someone on SRK. ~_~ It’s not real.
Well, TrollOno posted this
Along with an Akuma+Ryu small action figure set. The following Tweet was this
With a black and white picture of a… I don’t know, crawling Blanka?
Still, it’s clear that Capcom didn’t want this to surface. Which sucks, because who has no access to an arcade won’t be able to learn more about Oni and E. Ryu.
I hope there won’t be any delay (hell, this added just more hype), I want to vortex on the new guys.
Evil Ryu looks fun, I’ve always liked playing as Ryu as a 2nd, but always failed due to being so used to Akuma. Maybe Evil Ryu wil be my 2nd. Oni, not so sure. Looks bad ass but I havent really seen anyone use him the way I’ve seen Evil Ryu being used (ie, good)
It’s strange that Capcom are going on a banning spree with these videos, what did they expect when they unlocked these two characters? :looney:
Low health characters without demonflip/other vortex options
I don’t understand how anyone can think they are gonna be overpowered
In looks maybe, but Oni’s is designed as an anti-air and knocks down on hit. I also don’t think it’s a close move, I think he does it any time you hit the button. Also, it technically is probably borrowed from Gouken which is where Oni gets most of his moves.
Anyway, he’s not remotely similar to Akuma. He couldn’t be more different. He’s closest to Gouken, but he’s really not anything like Gouken either. He’s a totally new character.
morons, what can they do now? they gonna go to the arcade and rip oni and evil out or something?
they fucked up, they should live with it
On a more serious note: It looks like Oni is ass…and i mean, totally ass.
I’m really liking evil ryu’s new ex kick move. Shit looks fast and does a lot of damage/stun + it hits overhead. I can see some nice mixups coming…the normal version also looks like a decent frame trap for crouch tech mashers. Definitely gonna give evil ryu a try if/when AE dlc is released
It better be DLC. I might just give SSF4 a little bit of a go and be random online (Evil) Ryu #83,406,996 for a while… but I sure ain’t buyin’ another disk for it.
Well after watching a bunch of vids it looks like Evil Ryu is better than Oni. Oni still may have great unlocked potential, but from the looks of it Evil Ryu is basically Akuma with an FADC ultra, better normals (Ryu’s frame data on his normals, or so it appears), better fireballs but lacking the demon flip and vortex. Evil Ryu may even be better than Akuma because alot of DF pressure can be replicated via safe jumps. Time will tell.
I was wondering if Evil Ryu could apply dive kick/crossup mk mixups after a jab SRK because his SRK recovers a LOT faster than Akuma’s lp SRK, that could mean his lk.tatsu will always end with jab SRK for more mixups even though it’s not an untechable knockdown (kinda like cammy’s dive kick/crossup lk mixups after hitting the opponent with a spiral arrow).
@Shin, which normals do you mean that are better than Akuma’s? From what we’ve seen, his sweep is pretty slow and he can’t combo off it from his normals without counter hits. Also, his cr.mk seems to be worse than Ryu’s. I really do like that hop thing he does with forward + mk IIRC, that would be great to beat low attacks.
IMO (even though it doesn’t mean shit specially at this point) Akuma > Ryu > E.Ryu. Ryu Vs Akuma was 5-5 in SSFIV and that’s with Akuma’s demon flip options/vortex, air fireballs, awesome sweep, unblockable setups…etc. I see Ryu giving E.Ryu a hard time.
In fact if e.ryu’s sweep is the same as Ryu’s it’ll even be better. 5 frame startup will probably mean that lk tatsu > sweep will be easier and that maybe it can even be done on some characters where it was impossible before. The longer recovery would also mean easy safe jumps just like Ryu who can keep up-forward pressed during the recovery of the sweep to get an automatic safe jump. Also longer active frame on jumping normals like j.hk and j.hp will make option selects so much easier.
I’d never would have thought of it but i’m kinda hype for e.ryu.
Youve got a very good point! I hope your right and that there is more to see! There seems to be space on the character select for to more characters so time will tell.
It’s not just about speed when it comes to normals. Active frames, which Ryu always had over everybody else in the normal department, play an even larger role in making a normal “good” or not. Most of Evil Ryu’s normals that he shares with Ryu appear to be the same. That means if his character build is based around Ryu’s default properties I would assume his active frames are through the roof. If this is true then then his normal set will be far better than Akuma’s.
Even at this early stage I would all but guarantee that Evil Ryu is superior to standard Ryu. And like I said he may end up better than Akuma. His dashes are godlike, similar zoning to Ryu. FADC ultra. Dive kick and juggle options like Akuma. He is simply looking like he is Akuma without better basics but without the over complex stuff that you need to make Akuma good. Considering the nature of this game (complexities are necessarily better or rewarded more) Evil Ryu may end up superior to Akuma.
It seems like E.Ryus sweep would be 7+ frames or something from the talk about it. It’s been said that tatsu~sweep is doable but the timing is different than it would be for Akuma. It’s possible that it works, but with the sweep being slower it doesn’t work on as many characters as Akumas does. May only be extra vulnerable characters like Balrog.
The fact that his EX Hadoken doesn’t knockdown seems pretty significant to me. With his armour breaker relegated to something close range and slow as hell, focusing against him around sweep range seems like something that’ll bother him since it would be a good counter for sweep fishing or that sick little hopkick he got, while he can’t do much via cr.MK to fireball (or EX) and doesn’t have any far 2 hit normal.
His teleport will probably be more like a flexible Dhalsim or Bison Teleport than the escape option Akuma has.
It’s awesome that he kept Ryus fantastic throws. Oni got shafted with Akumas backthrow, which is one of the worst in the entire game and I don’t think he gets any decent offence of his forward throw either. (unless the corner turns out to be really important for him)
Evil Ryu looks like when he gets in, he’ll be able to stay on the opponent pretty good with good damage and his offense options are at least on the sunnier side of solid. In terms of the ground game, he’s seems pretty competent but he didn’t get the best of either worlds.
He has no teleport
He has no air fireball
He has no way to link normals into sweep
He has no Demon Flip Kick
He has no Demon Flip Grab
He has no Demon Flip Palm
Therefore, he cannot safe palm, he cannot rape Cody / Abel / Gouken / Balrog, etc on their wakeup
So in other words… wtf are you smoking and where can I get some?
There are a couple of things I noted Evil Ryu lost as off-sets over the normal version in the Ryu forums.
EX Hadouken for one and he lost the simple hit confirms to sweep to keep resetting opponents in untechable knockdowns. He has Akumas cr.HP which means ensuring they’re standing for his tatsu combos will probably be annoying. He’d most likely need to confirm to a jab shoryu to knock them down and stay on them if he sees they’re hit crouching.
I kinda wish he had either Ryus f+HP or Akumas far roundhouse or something. Not sure why he was given both far HK and Akumas far HP when they are largely used for the same things.
Outside of the LK tatsu juggles, his tatsu isn’t as good in that the multiple hits of MK and HK eliminate the blast-back that Ryu could corner opponents (and follow them) with. This stage positioning tool and things like the BnB sweep links are more important to Ryu in some matches than others.
Shinkuu Hadoken becoming a Raging Demon Super is a zoning and ground game nerf. In Demon he gets a mix-up tool for empty cross-ups on his excellent throws and a tick weapon as well as a way to kill focus with sweep that requires full stock.
I noticed in one of the vids that the mid screen Ultra I anti fireball tactic that Ryu uses doesn’t work nearly as good for Evil Ryu. Evil Ryus fireball ultra has very or little (if any) invincibility so he can’t ultra with a fireball in front of him to make it pass through and then hit their recovery raw; it’ll stuff the ultra completely. For E.Ryu it’ll need early timing/anticipation so that it fully comes out and nulls their fireball before hitting them in recovery.
Those are some things I noticed when thinking about what’s been traded when watching the footage I’ve seen. His jab shoryu possibilities and his normals I find particularly exciting. He looks very solid, though I think Ryu should still be a better pick in certain match ups.
Edit:
Still, speaking of normals.
We’ve all seen that E. Ryu’s sweep seems slower, and that he cannot combo cr.MK from cr.LP, but can combo it (cr.MK) from cr.MP. Since I highly doubt Capcom would give him a 1 frame link for cr.LP into cr.MP (scrubs would rage hard at that), I think it’s possibile to assume that his cr.MP might be +6 on hit. If that’s the case, his sweep could range from 7 to 9 startup, since we know a CH cr.MP will allow a sweep followup.
Also, his cr.MK looked pretty solid, he comboed fireballs with ease, from the vids I saw.
Has he lost his Plexus?
