Sure it’s early to judge, but with Evil Ryu they just took some stuff from Akuma and gave them to him. Who’s ever gonna pick Ryu now? The guy seem to combo both Ultras (the Shoryureppa like one, from cr.MK xx Fireball FADC)

oni looks slower than akuma, has the same amount of health, has no dflip (maybe), has no tatsu juggle combos anymore, has no double roundhouse. Lol. On the other hand he has an air dash, a misogi looking thing and a badass u2!
Oni Akuma looks absolutely horrible. How is he an upgraded version of regular Akuma?
Evil Ryu has promise. He looks to be a beast.
Oni has about average health (950-1000?), iplaywinner claims Zangief U1 (520 damage) did about 55 % damage on him.
I’m not evern sure he’s Akuma at this point tbh, might be some random demon with shoto like powers. Evil Ryu… meh.

Watched the stream, it did look more than 850.
Still, Eventhubs is just collecting data from people who submit tips, but isn’t really checking them (can’t blame them, too early).
Like, they say Evil Ryu has a Demon Flip, but people playing him didn’t use it once - if he had DF too, Akuma would be just obsolete…
yeah looks like evil ryu is the new akuma. On a side note, anyone else curious about their arcade mode stories? I wanna see the rival clips.
Evil ryu just did shoryuken fadc ultra 2 and he didn’t get the full animation, so there goes some of my hype. If the overhead is special cancelable instead of plus frames then we might be able to get ultra 2 off of ex-fireball setup. Does anyone else think that E.Ryu’s sweep looks slower AND more punishable then regular akuma’s? Oh and sorry for turning this into the E.Ryu thread.
Edit: Nvm now that I look at it the sweeps look the same.
Oni can bounce off the walls, like Vega and Chun. His air dash will be a bitch to anti air lol.
I’m not sure if there’s a problem with the video’s frame rate, but E.Ryu’s sweep recovery looked very slow to me, probably just a problem with the video though because everything seems kinda slow motion at times.
Evil Ryu’s FADC into U2 damage didn’t look that bad, didn’t it?
What’s your thought about his air dash guys? I agree that it throws off the AA, but it looked like it has some recovery.
About Evil Ryu’s sweep: it looked slightly slower than Akuma’s one, to me. Also, in the Evil Ryu mirror match, the sweep was punished by another sweep, so it has to have some recovery…

I like Akuma’s character design better lol. I do like Oni’s hair and blue flames haha.
IMO Akuma is more badass than both of 'em.
I think we will be forced to rely on normal AAs more and sweep his dash recovery when he lands, I don’t think that thing can be abused, kinda like Gouken’s DF focus thing, it has recovery too.
After watching the entire hour of stream, here are my thoughts:
1- Oni is a totally new character and not any type of Akuma, only thing I’ve seen him use that’s really similar to Akuma is the useless back throw lol, they should have just given him a different face IMO so no 1 would have an argument about this. He’s Gouken with a touch of Akuma’s evilness 
2- Evil Ryu doesn’t seem scary to me at all, I didn’t see him combo into his sweep and that’s huge (unless I missed it), it’s being reported that he has 850 health, so it feels like fighting vs him would be like an Akuma mirror match but a lot less tedious, he has no air fireballs and demon flips, he’s like a weaker version of Akuma and Ryu combined (some Akuma combos, weak health, teleports, comboable ultras, average mixups from the looks of it).
3- The video’s frame rate was shit so it was pretty hard to see how the startup and recovery of their moves felt like, but if they’re not anything broken (i.e 10 frame fireball startup or 35 frames recovery…etc) I don’t think these 2 new characters are all that scary.
Of course first impressions mean nothing and they could end up being totally broken characters after a couple of new discoveries lol, I just hope that won’t happen. If they can be tatsu sweeped and can’t dodge the 2nd kick of Akuma’s far roundhouse, I don’t see them being bad matchups for Akuma which is all that matters to me.
Evil Ryu is like SSF4 version of Akuma without any of the scary parts. No air fireballs, no standing round house, slow ass sweep, no tatsu > sweep. Hell, his air cross-tatsu acts as reg ryu’s as it pushes you to the other side of the screen. Did i mention his walk speed is slow.
At least at this rate they both appear to be playable, maybe even balanced.
