Is the use of lp mgb a useful block string ender? I mean sure it’s safe, but is it effective? Most of my block strings are c.lp, c.lp, c.mp, lp.mgb, duck/ssb/ etc.
Well according to event hubs frame data on block lp machine gun blow is -2… so basically you’d have to tech a throw and if someone was great a timing reversal jab there jab should be yours everytime… its still okay every once and awhile to mix it up. But its definitely not like say rufus where you just do block strings into tornado for more mixup.
Also oddly on hit lp machine gun blow is +2 mp is -1 and hp is 0, so I guess never do mp machine gun blow on zangitan or you’ll just get 720’d. : (
plus combo’ing into machine gun blow instead of ducking upper only misses you 10 damage anyway
Edit: I tested it and the frame data must be wrong because you cannot be punished for doing combo into mp or hp machine gun blow by reversal 720.
The biggest way to avoid people poking you out of the overhead is to punish them for hitting buttons with frame traps. Also, if you do the overhead as a meaty you won’t get hit out of it.
Combos into the overhead would defeat the purpose of it. f.mk does more damage anyways.
Maybe the ultra is out of range after the mp MGB? Also, hp MGB is +0 so you can’t be punished I believe.
yeah on block against people with any sort of 1 or 2 frame startup move your ass is grass.
Not too savvy with the frame data, but are there any moves with a 1 to 2 frame startup? Maybe command grabs or something?
mainly super’s and throws. Stuff that really hurts, like raging demon.
Raging demon has 5 frames of startups, throws generally have 3 frames. You only have to be scared about the command grabs, and some supers, like sagat’s( you’ll never see it), chun’s (also never see it), and OFC grapple suppers.Bassically, if not against zangief and thawk, no worries. There are some exceptions, but as said, they may be quite rare.
Akuma’s super.
Oh shi-- I instantly thought of his ultra.I forgot he even had that move. How often do you see an Akuma with super meter full?:))
When you’re playing against someone who loves Demon setups, or someone who’s incompetent at using meter (me).
Just got a focus attack in, wanna do some good damage, but you want to hold onto your meter?
Try this:
f.mk, s.hk, medium shortswing blow [292 Damage/ 420 Stun]
With the Focus attack it becomes [360 Damage / 512 Stun]
Also has anyone be experimenting with Ducking> Upper FADC setups? Is it even worth looking into before I start?
Been doing it a ton, actually. Probably more than I should be. Works well depending on your opponent’s playstyle. I find backdashing after the FA cancel to be the better choice, can ducking back in, LP MGB, in the corner your options are greater since they remain closer.
Does cr.hk x3 in the corner/ cr.hk x2 after ex mgb work on everyone or is it character specific?
Everyone.
Are you sure cr.hk x2 after EX MGB is possible on anyone?I can’t get it on blanka, or ryu or ken for shit. I mean, i know it’s easier on some characters, but i like recorded it against gouken, then did it on all the cast by replaying, and it didn’t hit on most of them, then i manually tried it, a lot, and didn’t get it do work.Too bad i don’t have turbo.I you are sure it works, then i’ll take your word for granted, though.
Definitely easier on some than others. I know I’ve done it to Ryu and Ken though. If I get time I’ll give it a shot on the cast tomorrow cause I’m really curious as well.
It’s definitely possible on those 3, but it is far easier to do on some characters than others.
As far as I can tell, the “trick” that works for me is that I perform the first one a little early, and then plink the second one as soon as the first Sweep recovers. Even so, I think I have about a 40% success rate with this method, although that’s better than I had before!
So you are saying you have done the sweep x 2 after ex machine gun blow on Ryu, Ken Blanka? If so than the timings must be really wierd because I just tried the whole cast with a recording I preformed against T.Hawk and these are the results I got.
Works Against
Guile
Seth
Balrog
Feilong
Cammy
Gouken
Dee Jay
T. Hawk
Cody
Dan
And that was it. I tried for awhile getting it against everyone else with different timings but it really looks like they fall too low after the first one. I was watching the recording I had and some character just appear to be bouncing higher, and you’ll see the weightclasses were all different. Since everyone says it does work on other characters Im going to assume the timing is super tight, and in that case I wonder if its worth it against them, I mean you lose out on like 50 damage I think for the characters that ducking hp ~ jab machine gun blow works on (maybe less maybe only 20…) so yeah I’ll keep checking timing to get it on more characters
whats plink?

nice - but i cant pull it off :bluu:
Yes I’ve done it on all 3 of those characters. One character who i have not tried it on is Ibuki… on her it might not be possible as Duck Straight, Jet Uppercut is not possible on her in the corner either.
Is it worth it damage wise? If you have Ultra stocked, probably not, as you can always connect after one sweep. If you don’t have Ultra, then even if you miss the second sweep, you are normally safe so it’s not that bad. But I prefer to do Duck Straight, Jet Upper myself, unless I’m just mucking around.
It looks too pimp to pull off in a match though, and part of playing Dudley is playing flash!
