I thought he just broke it and threw it away really fast i.e. before the explosion triggered
Thatâs what I thought initially but Hyogoroâs reaction clearly hinted that something more was going on.
This is easily one of my favorite chapters of the year so far. So much stuff to dissect:
Summary
-
Rayleigh apparently displayed armament haki pre-timeskip but was super fast and shady about it lol.
-
Rokuougan seems to be the physical equivalent of Ryou or maybe Lucci was actually using haki but only for that specific attack.
-
Itâs even more clear the scar on Kaido was created by a super advanced haki user, which I still believe was Roger, but Iâm sure Shanks definitely has this capability now after the display he made on Whitebeardâs ship with his aura.
-
Luffy may learn advanced Ryou before the arc ends, but Iâm sure there are defensive countermeasures since haki is inherently a defensive technique. He might get a shot or two on Kaido, but once the Beast King sobers up itâs going to be another story.
-
Even a brachiosaurus dropping on Big Mom from several stories only creates a slight inconvenience. She clearly was only stunned as the attack didnât even draw blood or bruise. What a freaking monster!
-
Tranquilizers, huh? Those must be in pill form as weâve seen before nothing so far can penetrate her skin. Unless they have seastone syringes now lol.
-
On page 9 a mysterious new challenger appears, probably another ronin from Odenâs day.
-
Based on Queenâs actions to wrap Big Mom in seastone and sail her to Demon Island Iâm starting to get the feeling that Linlin and Kaido might have deeper relationship⌠perhaps Edward Weevil isnât the purported son of Kaido but actually these two! They couldâve been ashamed of their blackout drunken liaison and sent the child away to be taken care of by Weevilâs so-called âmotherâ who seized on the Whitebeardâs legacy for fame and wealth. This might be the debt that Big Mom is talking about?!
It would explain his absurd strength, durability, simple-mindedness, and physical shape. Iâm sure a real son of Whitebeard wouldâve been more intelligent and ânormalâ.
Good issue, but I feel like Big Mom got managed a little too conveniently.
Until she wakes up and destroys everything
If she wakes up, with all the tranqs they have her on.
Frankly, once they got her to the boat they probably could have drowned her with not much trouble.
Iâm sure itâs moving the plot forward, but still.
Well Handsome Jack managed to not drown. Iâm pretty sure some Emperors are too stubborn to just die by drowning.
Now that I think about it, no one has died like that yet.
I think thatâs one of those things we were expecting an explanation for but Oda forgot about, lol.
Based on Jackâs teeth, I think it is safe to say that Jack is a fishman
Another break, but thatâs to be expected⌠:-/
Summary
Kawamatsu looked more adorable than I expected, Iâm still on the fence on what he actually is, but he definitely didnât disappoint.
I like how Luffy didnât just auto-learn his advanced haki but still has to test it out on fodder. It feels like a more natural growth. Also unlike the Dressrosans who were quickly emboldened to rebel against Doffy, itâs nice to see that these beaten and hardened individuals need more inspiration due to the hardships that exist inside and outside their prison walls. A polluted outworld governed by a nigh-unkillable monster does not give one immediate hope for the future. Even if Orochi gets bopped it means little if Kaido still reignsâŚ
Oh and of course regarding another revealâŚ
the anime hits Wano as of today. I love that new intro
After seeing that intro, is there even a point to watching the arc? Spoileriffic!
Hell, the intro mightâve even spoiled stuff that hasnât even happened in the manga yetâŚ
Go on spill the beans!
If only the animation was this good all the time.
As much as I love One Piece, I just canât bring myself to watch the show with any regularity. Mostly just catch some of the key fights.
Same here. I used to be an ardent viewer but midway through the Whole Cake arc I just couldnât take it anymore. Iâve never seen an anime try to stretch a single chapterâs worth of content so much and sacrificing animation quality to do so too.
Like why does a weird anime series about someone turning into living slime have better animation quality than an anime based off the most popular manga series right now?
Just take a extended break and do things properly for the love of Goda.
Speaking of my GF has now hit Whole Cake IslandâŚand consider that she started her binge back in January of this year.
The anime is painful. Would be lucky to get 5 mins of relevant, decent footage from each episode
