One Piece Thread: Gear 3rd!

It’s taken straight from the manga bro, no one is making this shit up.

So exactly which panel in which chapter did Whitebeard “literally” destroy a planet.

@infernoman This isn’t about being anal about wording. It is about fans twisting the words use by someone “knowledgeable” in any anime/manga to play up a feat that never happened. Sengoku said “world” not “planet”. Whiteshadow knowingly switched those two words around in an attempt to make WB sound stronger and thus ABC logic, Gol D Roger stronger.

But hey, if in a cover arc we see Black Beard go to the moon where Enel is and destroy the moon in their fight then maybe you’ll have something to back up this baseless claim. Or maybe in the void century we’ll find out that the D bloodline is actually a group of Aliens from Mars who destroyed their own planet thanks to the Quake fruit and came to this planet to start anew ala Eyes of Mars.

At this point, WB and by extension BB are barely city busters, much less mountain or planet. We aren’t the dumb fanboys were were 20 years ago watching DBZ, lets actually use our heads for a change and realize that comments made by characters aren’t always to be taken at face value. Sometimes these characters like to brag or overstate something to make it seem better than what it actually is. We’ve seen absolutely nothing from either WB or BB that would collaborate this claim that the owner of the quake fruit could destroy the “world” or as Whiteshadow whats to change the words around to suit his fanwanking “planet”.

Why does this matter to you so much??? Actually writting multi paragraph comments over this…

Because someone has to keep this bullshit in check. Next thing you know, we have idiots claiming that Luffy can move FTL. We already have the unconfirmed planet buster claims. Soon will be the haki beams ala kame hame ha’s.

Now WhiteShadow, name me the planet that WB “literally” destroyed.

he dodged beam attacks so…ftl confirmed :stuck_out_tongue:
maybe you guys shouldnt take this shit to serious.

Get that stick out of your ass please lol

Geez Louise, what’s all the hubbub? Whitebeard was stated explicitly to be able to destroy the world.

World (noun) - the earth or globe, considered as a planet.

But hey don’t take my word for it…

I think I’ll take the word of a fearful Marine Fleet Admiral, who is essentially serving as the mouthpiece for the author of the manga at his word.

I don’t see the need for a pedantic rant, as prevailing common sense would make it clear that destroying the world doesn’t have to mean doing some Death Star SFX planet explosion, but simply causing irrecoverable worldwide devastation, which judging by the fact that the aftershocks of Whitebeard’s attacks were felt around the world is a clear indication of his capabilities. Whitebeard wasn’t using his power with that intent at Marineford, so why would that need to be shown explicitly when Oda was already gave us enough clues along with stating it from a high status character in the series?

And to further put things into perspective, Don Chinjao was capable of splitting a continent with his head and Garp would pulverize mountains with his fists as training practice. Are we to logically believe that they are stronger than Whitebeard “The Strongest Man in the World” even though according to you @ShinjiGohan Whitebeard is only a “city buster” at most?

And that statement falls flat as no user of the quake quake fruit as EVER destroyed a planet. He hasn’t destroyed a mountain, he couldn’t even destroy Marine Ford despite trying to do so. After his death, Black Beard also tried to sink Marine Ford and he failed to do so as well. He couldn’t even destroy a thick metal wall, hell he couldn’t even bend it. So yes, I am having doubts that he could even destroy a fortified City as he couldn’t despite multiple attempts to destroy Marine Ford.

There are other definitions for “world” that you conveniently left out because it gets in the way of your masturbation of Roger. From the Culture and history of mankind to the whole of the universe. To history, groups of living things, groups of people and places and activities.

Earthquakes are nothing more than vibrations caused by the movement of tectonic plates. Such movements have created Mount Everest, has moved continents across the globe and will be why California will be separated from the rest of the USA in the future. At no point has that or will that ever cause the destruction of the planet.

So once again show me “literally” where Whitebeard destroyed a planet. If you can’t then you have to admit that Sengoku was using hyperbole and you’re too stupid to realize it, and now you’re too embarrassed to admit that you’re wrong.

This is the best troll I’ve seen in a while

How about you actually use your brain when reading literature and apply just a tiny bit of common sense.

If we have never seen any user of the quake quake fruit destroy a mountain or even a city, then for the love of god why do you think that you can just bump up their feat to being planet busting? If we were to detonate every nuclear bomb in the world in one spot, it wouldn’t destroy the world. It would create a massive crater 2 miles deep and 10 miles wide. And those are confirmed to be city busters. But they would barely dent mountains.

What is trolling about actually reading the words as they’re meant to be read as?

Idiots like Whiteshadow and the rest of you defending him can’t tell the difference between stated fact and hyperbole. What exactly in Whitebeards 30+ year reign in the New World would lead someone to believe that he could destroy the planet when he hasn’t sunken cities or islands?

That’s right. Don’t break kayfaybe.

Just to point how out absurd your stance is. Assuming that the world in One Piece is half that of earth in diameter. The total volume of that planet is 33 billion miles cubed. Now we have White Beard and Black Beard who tried to sink/destroy Marine Ford. Marine Ford itself looks to really be less than a mile wide but lets assume that its 5 miles across. Which gives it an approximate volume of 1 mile cubed. How are we to assume that WB or BB can destroy their planet when he literally couldn’t destroy 1/33,000,000,000 of it?

How many examples in real life can you think of where you would just blindly accept a claim that is off by that much? That is like claiming that a pro MLB pitcher can actually pitch 4,920X the speed of light when his best displayed pitch is only that of 100mph.
AOC and Trump aren’t off by that much.

Going by WhiteShadows logic, Doflamingo can turn the entire planet into string. Or Katakuri can turn the entire world into Mochi and destroy it that way. After all there was never a limit set on their sphere of influence for turning matter into their devil fruit power, why not just expand it to the entire planet? Magellan could turn the entire planet to poison right? Or Caesar into gas?

sigh Let’s look at this again from multiple angles. Whitebeard showed immense restraint throughout the war. Why? Because his Devil Fruit ability can create unintended damage that could hurt his allies. He warned his men on multiple occasions to fall back simply because of this issue. It was shown that even his targeted attacks against single opponents like John Giant could create residual shockwaves that put Marineford in danger. The aftershocks of his attacks were felt on multiple corners of the planet.

Why would Oda want to show him destroying the very foundation he and his allies are on? What audience but you would that satisfy?

I think you also fail to understand that the Gura Gura no Mi can create earthquake-like vibrations through even intangible mediums which is why you saw that Newgate could grab the literal space around him and create unrealistic distortions of even the ocean. This display of power not only trumps anything we’ve seen to date in the series, but was still purposely localized. He also managed to casually create dual tsunamis that dwarfed all of Marineford as his opening attack. Imagine if Whitebeard was actually trying to cause widespread destruction?

You bring up the reinforced metal plate Whitebeard dented which clearly had special properties as an example of his limits when it doesn’t refute anything. Last time I checked, the OP world wasn’t made of that metal. Ever tried to break a dry stick only to realize you didn’t put in as much force? Then before trying again you realize the rebound effect of splintered stick could poke an eye out? The initial punch he gave created a shockwave that blew everyone nearby away. Most likely attempting a stronger punch or an alternate foundation-affecting move would put many at risk. This is like saying Luffy is weak because he can’t punch through seastone, even though he’s displayed many insane strength feats— like destroying a huge section of Dressrosa with King Kong Gun.

Oda used Sengoku to mention this so-called “hyperbole” because he’s an experienced Marine who’s seen what he’s capable of in the past, and his worried expression means he’s fully aware of what he was capable of. His remark was not about his will to destroy the world but just how extreme his abilities are. Deriving a gross exaggeration from Sengoku’s comment when Whitebeard clearly proved his threat level in the past and then-present (while on the verge of death no less) during the war is flawed.

It’s very safe to assume Whitebeard and Blackbeard aren’t the first users of the Gura Gura no Mi in history. It was already stated to be the strongest Paramecia fruit and we also know that there is a book cataloging Devil Fruits, even the rare types. Wouldn’t it be logical to assume that maybe there is some precedent of the fruit’s power, one that doesn’t have to involve in the destruction of the world but still enough widespread destruction to make a point?

You also conveniently glossed over my point of Don Chinjao splitting a continent in half and Garp destroying mountains as practice, and yet according to you “The Strongest Man in the World” is still considered a “city buster”, because apparently Oda’s words mean nothing if it doesn’t bolster your argument. Now you’re changing the argument entirely by comparing the unverified potential of awakened DF ability effects on terrain with a Devil Fruit ability that by default is the strongest Paramecia as a comparison. Something that was never stated by anyone in the series as feat awakened fruits are capable of.

But lastly and most importantly, like a previous poster stated, I really hope you’re trolling. You seem to have massive chip on your shoulder, one that I nor anyone in this thread has placed on you. My first instinct reading your reply was to link the MJ “Stop it. Get some help.” gif, but then I feel you’d take it as me trying to start a pointless flamewar or being disingenuous…

So I’m saying this seriously, with no joke or sarcasm, just dial it back a bit and if you really need to, get some help.

Don’t care for the song but I agree on the sentiment. Let’s move on.

And yet Luffy wondered why WB attacked his own men and he replied that they knew the risk.
So no, he didn’t hold back. and no shockwaves were felt across the planet. At the close by SA, at no point did they cower from the shockwaves as it never reached them. Try again.

I wanted him to at least destroy some thick metal walls and he couldn’t even manage that, not even a scratch.

And did that destroy a city? Yes or no?

If WB can destroy a planet as you claim, then a reinformed metal plate should be nothing to him, especially when it comes to saving the lives of his crewmembers.

Yes, Sengoku is an experienced marine, who has NEVER seen WB destroy a planet. So yes it is hyperbole. Especially when that hyperbole scales up his most impressive feat by 33 billion times.

Ah, but that wasn’t what you said. You said that WB “literally” had the power to destroy a planet. I want the name of that literal planet that he destroyed. Or is this the closest that you are going to come to admitting you’re wrong? Lets find out.

And where is this “continent”? The OP world as you know is made up entirely of islands and the redline. The closest to a continent is the redline, which has not been split otherwise people wouldn’t be going up reverse mountain to enter the grandline or get to the other seas. Also Garp said that he destroyed 8 mountains as training for Don Chinjao, turned them to dust. At no point was this shown, or even implied to have happened in a single punch.

My argument is that if something is said then there should be feats to accompany them. Especially when you end up upscaling his greatest feat by 33 billion times. If the statement was only 10 times higher than his best feat then that is one thing. But 33 billion times is another matter all together.

So where is your verified planet destroying ability of WB’s fruit? Come on, if you are all of a sudden going to talk about verification of devil fruit abilities then show me some proof that he destroyed a planet. Simple as that.

Show me the literal panel or episode where WB or BB destroyed a planet. Otherwise, dial back your masturbation to WB and in turn Gol D Roger.

blablablabla no one cares anymore. Didn’t even read tbh. Just shut the fuck up already.

In other news: OP is on break this week.
