Hmm good point . I think that notorious and Marines do get them. Look at Smoker he is low ranked but is one of the strongest non admirals around and he has a Devil Fruit. You also gotta factor they don’t know what devil fruit they are getting like Kaku whose fruit was completely random. So they run the risk of getting a really crappy fruit along with an amazing one.Then again they do have a book full of devil fruits floating around the Op world along with the ability to read ponelygraphs and a bunch of old forgotten books and fables and what not. So its possible that the World Govt has a knowledge of a lot of devil fruits and the weaknesses of a few select ones .

It only makes sense that the Gorosei have supreme knowledge over the lost age and the existence of maybe all the existing Devil Fruits. I mean there no way there’s an entire catalog available without some extensive foreknowledge of their existence… probably dating before the “Void Century”!
I’ve always fantasized Coby getting to that level on his skills and wits alone, rejecting the offer for a Fruit. It would make him the first known non-DF Admiral (since Garp turned down those promotions), that would be pretty cool.

I wanna know if Garp and Shanks are on peaceful terms. Out of all of the old guard Garp is probably familiar with him on a personal level. He watched him grow into the man he is today and saw as his strength grew. I mean if Shanks and Buggy used to try to fight Whitebeard I wonder what did they do to garp. It would be fun to see them do a spin off on One piece. Like Hokuto No Ken did with Raoh, Toki,Shin and Rei.A Shanks ,Roger,Whitebeard,Garp spinoff would be awesome.

Is it me or does that whole “old genes” talk about fishmen/mermen species and children seems like the perfect way to disguise infidelity. I mean I get the whole recessive genes thing and even a kid coming out as either a merman or fishman but whole different species.

Meanwhile, Strawhats Pirates vs Hodi the Roid Machine. I’m not liking this fight for Zoro, way too early in the story arc for a clear cut victory so the Strawhats are probably going to be forced to retreat. But who will carry Neptune’s fat ass?

I don’t see Zoro losing this fight. It’s his first REAL showing since the ‘jump’. More than anything I think there is something to be said for the message from Jimbei about NOT fighting Hodi.
It’s looking more andm ore like Jimbei might actually be a pausible Strawhat, thoug hsomething tells me Fishmen island goes into trouble and he’s there to help clean up the pieces…otherwise he’s joining the crew…he’s got no where else to go.

Jimbei needs to join the straw hats already, they need a fishman. Neptune can clean whatever mess is left from fishman island.
It’s funny because in my story when 2 creatures of a different species mate, they become a hybrid, and when the hybrid mates, the child becomes either one of the the species out of 3 (or 2 depending). So the child will only represent one specie.
I like the fact that we get to see some of Oda’s amiable philosophies on race relations, which is why he’s one of the only few people to gain the title of KAMI!!! 
I just don’t want Zoro to get jobbed, that would be too depressing, even if Hodi took a dozen roid pills. I can’t wait to see what both can do! >_<!!!

so i finished up reading through all of op, shits way better than when i left it off. the first half of the manga is meh, just ok. after the first half everything gets nicer, even the pacing. at times its still a lil too childish but still a good manga.
now what im curious about, the marine who was in charge before garp and sengoku, the one they had to fight together to beat (the one who cut of his own legs). this dude seems pretty strong and probably a foe for later on. probaly stronger than any of the admirals or any other marine seen thuys far (and hes priobably gotten stronger).
also when sengoku went to resign, the dude that was there with the long mohawk. dude strong or what?
That’s Shiki and the movie shows that he’s very strong and pretty broken, but afaik he’s currently a gumdrop salesman.

Interesting you say that. If Kong has no form of illness then dude should be in great shape. In Op age means you get tired quicker but it doesnt really mean you can’t lay down an asswhooping. Like Rayleigh was doing to kizaru he was strong enough to hold him off and fight him but wasn’t strong enough to beat everybody’s ass in the vicinity while taking on Kizaru who is a threat you can’t just brush off and say I can deal with you later i got robots to stomp. If Kong is still one of the strongest Marines thats something we can’t judge right not we can’t say but we all now shit will get real once he steps from behind the desk.
