[details=Spoiler]Read Naruto, Bleach and OP. Wow what a week.
Slightly disappointing because I expected so much and then I realized everything I wanted can’t be provided in a single chapter.
Anyways goddamn Dofla is crazy. That dude is scared of Kaido?
Also there goes Luffy’s/Ussop’s Army. [/details]
I’m just gonna say that DD has just screwed himself over with this new plan of his. This is soooooo gonna backfire. Seriously, fuck that guy! lol
I will admit one thing about DD though, his skills with his DF are undeniably incredible!!
Anyway, this was an awesome chapter! Too bad Robin might not get a one on one fight in this arc after all though. And honestly, I find her reunion with Koala, Sabo, and Hack pretty rushed.
Doflamingo’s fruit has definitely been refined beyond anything shown so far (barring Luffy’s Gears), Magellan is the only one close to his creativity. Just as impressive is how he managed to block post-timeskip Luffy’s Jet Gatling with ease, meaning his Armaments Haki matches or exceeds Luffy’s. He also replicated Kaku’s Rankyaku Amendachi with that decapitation kick attempt.
One can only imagine how sickeningly powerful Kaidou must be if Doflamingo can do all this and still piss his pants at the thought of incurring that “Beast’s” wrath.
Law’s need for revenge probably has to do with birdcage, and his hometown. Doflamingo probably kept him around due to his usefulness and wits. That Hearts chair isn’t for show. Law probably has been plotting his revenge for a while now.
And now the stage is set for something I’ve always wanted to see for years- how high level peeps handle Doflamingo’s ability. Not even Diamond “I throw icebergs the size of islands” Jozu could shake it, and the Mugiwaras make excellent bait for Donquixote to control and enrage Luffy.
BTW did anyone else spot the hilarity with Brook and Robin in the color walk. You don’t even need text bubbles to decipher what was being said.
Knew it, the name “birdcage” pretty much gave it away. Damn, Doflamingo really exceeded my expectations.
There are too many strong people on the island though, so this plan definitely has some serious issues. What if, say Fujitora or Sabo went to take out Doflamingo?
Doflo’s strong, but that doesn’t mean he’s significantly stronger than Luffy. He managed to block Luffy’s hits, but I don’t think Luffy put as much effort into that attack as he could, and the whole puppet bit was a cheap blindside tactic that Luffy couldn’t counter since he was in mid-attack.
Kyros said he was caught off-guard, and he taught Rebecca how to dodge attacks so that it’s not too ridiculous to say he’s of similar strength as well.
What Doflo has a combination of the element of surprise, and a mastery of his Devil-Fruit abilities with good Haki usage. But how many tricks does he have up his sleeve to maintain an upper-hand over anyone? There’s quite a handful people on the island who’s strong enough to survive/escape birdcage and fight off Doflo, but how many of them will stay to protect the people who can’t?
Slightly OT: Isn’t it funny how One piece made waaayyyy more sense than Naruto or Bleach for the last few chapters? Now that’s something I never thought I would say.
I’m not saying that he’s untouchable, but he’s definitely superior in the experience department. Luffy definitely went serious by going Jet Gatling right on the spot.
The fact that Luffy even got caught off guard is something significant; how many times has that happened post-timeskip? Especially considering he just breezed through a 100 man melee with real fighters . He didn’t dodge because he was merely tricked, he didn’t dodge because he couldn’t. That’s a pretty significant moment. Granted Luffy, isn’t in his “I gotta save everyone- let me sacrifice my body to win” mode yet, but it seems base form Luffy (which is what we’ve seen since) isn’t going to cut it anymore. His secret jungle training moves have be used now and possibly Gear Fourth a new technique entirely. I can’t wait!
As far as the outcome of his Battle Royale, it mostly hinges on what Admiral Fujitora decides to do. I’m sure he’s not enjoying watching civilians being murdered in front of him, but at the same time his hands are tied. Hm… Blind Justice.
I think what surprised me the most about this chapter was how nonchalant Doffy was about his 10 year dictatorship being torn asunder. It angered him for a bit, but then he just devised another contingency plan seemingly on the spot.
At least a couple of times in every arc since they headed off for Fishman Island. Every big bad so far, even the relatively lameass Hordy, has been able to get in a few good shots at him. Caesar had him unconscious and could’ve very easily killed him if he wasn’t so interested in having him shown off as an example.
Luffy’s badass, but the first time he comes across a new technique it usually takes him getting hit by it a few times before he figures out how to beat it. His method of learning is pretty much “goddamn that hurts, better not get bitchslapped by that again”.
Doflamingo is a true boss… Niggas plans got wrecked, and he just calmly decides to eliminate all the witnesses and start anew. Dude’s a real sociopath.
He has displayed probably the greatest mastery and control of a DF we’ve seen outside of Luffy/Magellan, has high-level Haki, and is a cunning and intelligent fighter… Luffy definitely has his work cut out for him, and that’s if he can survive all the mooks coming for his head.
Although I think Dofla is underestimating the power of the Straw Hats’ Friend-no-Jutsu… Some dudes will take up his offer, but they’re going to have to get past the small army Luffy and Usopp have amassed.
Shit is getting real, and it isn’t anywhere near the climax of this arc… Oda stay beasting.
They should have switched Gear Second and Gear Third. Gear Fourth would be Luffy going SSJ.
He was getting owned by Monet, then Zoro almost killed her like it’s nothing. Luffy should be much less careless after the training, but that would be less entertaining for us.
I don’t see it happening, at least not initially. Doflamingo will probably put the bounties on anyone who could potentially oppose him. So Fujitora and the Marines will be occupied, and we still
haven’t seen what the CP-0 is doing. They might be the main enemy for Sabo,Hack, and Koala
Yes he got touched, but I’m trying to say the ratio of the times he got caught is very, very small compared to all the dangers he’s faced since the timeskip. (the anime also extended a bunch of scenes to make enemies more threatening than they really were in the manga) Most of Luffy’s most embarrassing moments has been him just fighting out of awkward situations, rather than actually being bested in full combat.
We’ve been down this road with “Luffy versus” moments and what’s inevitable, and Doflamingo will certainly get his when they meet again. What does make this different is like Po Pimpus said, Doflamingo isn’t a bunch of gimmicks, he isn’t incomplete, he excels at everything and is a bonafide evil genius. Luffy attacked him in full Gear 2nd mode (not just pumping up his limbs) and was fully prepared, and Doflamingo outmatched him, plain and simple. This wasn’t like some lucky attack or a situational disadvantage Luffy just happened to be in the way of like with Hody, Yeti Cool Bros, and Caesar Clown.
I say this every time he gets brought up, but Hodi Jones was the biggest scrub ever… This lame thought he was hot shit just because he was a Fishman, then spent the majority of the arc getting ROFL-stomped…
Zoro damn near cut that nigga clean in two while UNDERWATER(y’know, the place Fishmen are supposed to have the advantage in).
Then after he gets stitched up, and ODs on Roids, gets his shit pushed in by Luffy on at least two separate occasions, one of which was again, underwater, where Luffy is weaker, and saw Hodi get punched SO HARD, he caught fire.
Luffy punched this nigga so hard, he **WAS LIT ON FIRE WHILE UNDERWATER.
**
Bodied. Completely. Free.
Hodi Jones is the post 09’er stream monster scrub of this manga… At least dudes like Usopp and Buggy know they ain’t about that life…
Dofla is a crafty son of a bitch. Dude decides that “hey I’m losing this place…time to fuck em hard.” Knife barrier AND a bounty program AND allowing anyone to just come up and try to make him go away? No fear.
And this is why he is my favorite villain in the series.
im surprised how many people think that post time skip luffy should just outright shit on everyone he touches, cmon the training was to catchup to the people left in the new world, not to fucking become a god…think about how many people are still left…admiral…its nuts.
also anyone have any idea what cipher 0 is doing this whole fucking time, dicking off?
