The D heritage is most likely the name of the people or the civilization from which they came, that is, the people who inhabited the land.
I think Blackbeard is a D, but he’s a like the “Black sheep” (har har har) of Ds. He can get people to join him, he has a belief in dreams/fate, and he has willpower, the major difference is that he is malevolent and selfish. Even Ds on the “bad” side (Jaguar D. Saul) still had a care for people.

Whitebeard is strong enough to take on all three of the admirals damn near back to back in his prime I think he would have dropped them . God Forbid Roger was alive and wanted his son back. There WOULD BE NO MARINEFORD.
The latest anime was like a classic, epic RPG battle; both the Earthquake and Meteor spells were cast, lol. Too bad Marco doesn’t have any Phoenix Down to give out, lol.
Seriously, Whitebeard is so damn powerful considering that he has not been in his prime for years, as well as taking a stab through his solar plexus.
Overall, it seems like the quality of the anime has been picking up.
