One Piece Thread: Gear 2nd!

I been getting into Fairy Tail lately too. I think it’s more the T&A that keeps my attention than the actual writing though.

I like that Oda took this route in handling the Jimbei situation, and it makes perfect sense.

A Living

[details=Spoiler] Weapon… Interesting. The fact that the power was “reincarnated” within Shirahoshi seems to complement my theory about Luffy possessing Roger’s “essence”.

It also makes me wonder what Pluton is as well, since it also has the potential to destroy the world. Pluton on the other hand, was distinctly called a battleship.[/details]

There also needs to be some kind of exposition on the “Tree of Light” aka “Eve.” I wonder how the Adam and Eve tree tie into one another?

So many questions…

Once the WG gets a hold of this intel, I wonder what actions they might take? I’m sure they would want to use this “WMDs” for their own devices which is why they have been trying to silence the past for 800 years now.

The Minister of the Left kinda creeped me out in this one panel.

They’re…

The Walking Dead! O__O!!!

WE’RE ALL THE WALKING DEAD!

Just like Vander Decken!

If you have a PS2, play Okami. The mythological underwater palace Ryuuguu is based off of is in that game. It looks gorgeous. I believe the ‘Ryuu’ in Ryuuguu means dragon, and in Okami, the palace is named the Dragon Palace. It was underwater too, of course. The head of the palace is, of course, Otohime.

You know what, I’ll do the work for you. There you go.

Okami is a smorgasbord of Japanese mythology. Such a good game.

Okay crybaby princess is possibly one of the strongest beings in one piece is an interesting plot twist and a legitimate reason why Jinbei can’t leave or join.He has to protect her ,Noah, the poneglyph and the kingdom. Makes perfect sense and makes him an extremely important character in the series. One piece has alot of serious super weapons in it from pluton, the gara gara fruit,Negro beards fruit. But I think the power to control the sea creatures trumps all of them. This makes me think of what type of dude was joy boy was he evil good or neither

Ehh it was sorta thrown out there, the sea kings first summon just confirmed everything. It makes me think what the World Government did/is doing to keep this away from anyone. Blueprints is one thing but befriending someone who has control of it is serious shit.

(I’ll laugh if Pluton turned out to be Blackbeard’s giant “true name” considering his nickname.)

Yeah, I’d imagine that Sea Kings, even if they don’t outnumber humans, easily number in the thousands, which is rather a lot for even the strongest person to take down simultaneously considering how absurdly huge they are. Hell, if that the huge…thing in the Florian Triangle that appeared in the mist after Luffy and the others departed from beating Moria is a sea king, then, yeah, the world would very clearly be fucked.

Yeah, I figured as much. It’s just difficult to tell, especially since they might be staying on the island a bit longer.

I suppose I was just expecting them to do something piss off Big Ma(m), which hasn’t happened so far yet. Maybe it won’t, surprisingly. (Or maybe Caribou will do it and it will get blamed on them.)

I think MvC3 Amaterasu has dissuaded me from ever touching that game due to HHHHH’ing the fuck out of everything.

More seriously, thanks. I’m giving it a look now. It seems like it would be interesting, especially since I’ve heard nothing but praise for that game.

Pluton had definite mechanical blueprints that were destroyed, so I highly doubt it.

I’m glad I’m not the only one that mentioned that thing, hence why I mentioned Colossal Battleship Sanjuan Wolf as the 2nd largest being I’ve ever seen in the series so far. (Still trying to figure out where the hell he was held in Impel Down, seeing how he’s bigger than Marineford itself.)

I have my theories as to what that creature in the Florian Triangle might be, my strongest guess is that it might be…

The Devil Himself!

what are you new hear? when a new issue drops all hell breaks loose. its the exact same in naruto and bleach thread. what did you expect?

Oh fuck just remembered the Bermuda triangle is also called the devils triangle. Shadows theory makes whole lot of sense. Davy back fight you get to steal crew mates from another crew through competition.what if the people or demons disguised as people fought and killed Brooks where members of Davy jones crew . I mean The Rumbar pirates won at a twist they where all poisoned and bound to die except Brook that’s some fucked up stuff only a true devil would do.

I’ve always felt in my .:Grand Theory:. that the “devils” in the fruit are there as a consequence of said wagers with the Devil. It’s not a coincidence that DF users sink like hammers as a consequence for getting an ability. The fact that there is a catalog for fruits even before users have them also adds to mystery as well.

Interesting, mind telling me more about this Devil theory?

It’s in our last logbook in the site archive. Blackbeard had position of a book filled with the shapes and properties of the devil fruits. We theorized that either Blackbeard is possessed by the will of Davy Jones or Is a reincarnation. His fruit is pretty much the underworld or hell. Giving him the power to steal or nullify a devil fruit users power .

So just thought about it, the mud guy stole all the treasure in the palace … among it was a treasure that ages people (this was mentionned in the fisher tiger flashbak, the existence of this treasure int he palace, forgot name though) … so i’m guessing he uses it on one of the straw hats and the straw hats with robin or some other’s knowledge of Bonney DF to age people … they go seek/rescue her from captivity with world government, dunno if she’ll join but by raiding the marine base in the new world and getting Jewerly bonney out … that’s where they’ll get their next upgrade in bounties …

just a randumb theory and u never rly kno with Oda … but all of that was just an excuse to post this picture below …

they’re always like that. They ran away when they beat arlongs crew, they ran after sky spea.

Unless they have a reason for staying like after beating Croc to heal up, or same with enies lobby… But in both of those cases they had to make a run for it.

Yup, and it goes even deeper.

Stuff

[details=Spoiler]I speculate that the fruits are the souls of past people (probably pirates) who’ve met their fate under the sea, and as an agreement to be “saved” from their fate become the “Devils” that inhabit the fruits. When a user touches water, or seastone it is their souls being beckoned back to “Davy Jones” (which in pirate folklore is really a nickname for the Devil).

The reason why Blackbeard managed to get 2 devil fruit powers is because he was able to coerce the devil within Whitebeard’s corpse to inhabit him, since it didn’t have anywhere else to go, it agreed. This is interesting because it either means DF users die with their power, or that there is an incubation period, which is why Blackbeard acted so quickly. Normal bodies cannot contain 2 DFs because it’s literally multiple souls fighting for dominance, BB is a void so there’s room.

Lastly, the “Davy Jones” aka the Devil probably is using Marshall D. Teach as a conduit of his power. It is my supposition that his influence only extends to the vast ocean, but is very limited on land; by creating these Devil Fruit “footsoldiers” he can extend his influence and use it for his own ends, whatever it may be. This is why Blackbeard and his crew and Luffy and his crew seem to be following a “fated” path. They are representative of 2 polar opposite forces that had a major conflict in the past.

These ancient weapons were most likely created for combating such a force as well.[/details]

Also keep in mind the religious references Oda has been using for key artifacts or- Adam (tree), Eve (tree), Noah (ark/ship). Luffy’s Sunny-Go and Roger’s Oro Jackson are made from the extremely sturdy Adam wood, the tree of “light” which illuminates all of Fishman Island is Eve.

My guess Poseidon was the ancient weapon that was used by the good guys (note: that that this power uses the ocean’s native inhabitants as allies, a sign of oneness with nature/ benevolence), while the physical battleship Pluton was the opposing force (note: Pluton = Pluto = Hades).

Geez Luffy doesn’t take no for an answer.

Okay so it’s been established that Van Decken is still alive unless the fishmen have a thing about tying up corpses and throwing them in jail. So that obviously means that his power only works when he’s conscious. Finally, one of my OP theories turns out to be right for a change.

I was really hoping that Jimbei would join the crew, but I kind of knew he wouldn’t. He just doesn’t seem the type to turn his back on his country while it’s in almost complete disarray. It’s good to know that there’s an open invitation from the Strawhats when he’s done reestablishing fishman island.

It’s kind of weird to see Robin openly smiling throughout this arc. I wonder what happened with her and the revolutionaries that brought upon this relatively warmer incarnation or maybe she’s just really glad to be back with her own crew. Also, is it just me or is she kind of flirting with Jimbei… no wonder they call him the BOSS.

Robin’s been substantially more cheery ever since the gang rescued her from CP9. She’s been showing bits and pieces of it here and there. After all the hardship of her youth, she finally has a ‘home’ she can find comfort in on the Sunny-Go… this is especially true of their two years apart… and wouldn’t you be happier knowing that there’s a tight-knit crew of powerful people who will ALWAYS have your back?

She does seem to be flirting quite a bit with Jimbei, but I think that’s just Robin’s quirkiness showing, as she flirts with Zoro and (albeit less so) Sanji as well. She’d probably flirt with Luffy too, were he not so damned oblivious. (Thinks of poor, misguided Boa Hancock…)

Oda is that you?

My theory would also explain why Devil Fruits can also inhabit inanimate objects. It’s not really about “eating” the fruit per se, but the transferal of the devil to whatever medium.

When was she flirting with Jimbei? I think Robin’s dream of finding friends has been fulfilled, also upon meeting Dragon and the Revolutionaries probably enabled her to lighten up a bit, which is why her style has changed.

A scorpion Zoan fruit would be pretty cool. I’d like to see a Fishman Zoan or a Giant Logia soon.
