I was sure dude was dead last time, but Oda taking the time show that he isn’t has me convinced that Vander Decken is still kicking it and will probably deliver one last surprise to Hodi before he checks out to cap off his role on this arc. Luffy beating that ass isn’t enough, somebody is going to have to kill that boy and who better then a another fishman villain?

I still want to know what happens if Vander Decken throws people he’s targeted at themselves.
It’s less that any of us any attachment to Vander Decken–like his power, but that’s about it–than the fact that in One Piece, this would be the first time that a major villain (or, at least, non-minor) villain got killed off. Considering how villains tend not to die in One Piece at all, the fact that it might have happened mid-arc as well and on-screen to boot shows that New World probably isn’t going to fuck around. (You know, just in case we didn’t get the point with Kuma curb-stomping people, Magellan being a moving wall of doom and Luffy being unable to save Ace two years ago.)

As much as I like kryonik’s answer, it probably would have imploded to try crush her, killing her anyway. Noah’s pretty damn huge and segmented. I doubt that even on board it she would be completely safe, even if Vander Decken hadn’t been tossing blades at her the entire he was “up” before Hodi might have ended him.
Oh man, now that One Piece is so serious now I wonder if Noah will hit fishman island and EVERYONE who we just met and have to care about will die?
Man Hodi is so strong, so much more strong then Jimbei. It sure was nice of Jimbei to let Hodi just do whatever he wanted for so long so we could have this great arc to read. Everything has been completely different and great since they got into the new world.

It’s so cool Jimbei knew the full scope of Hodi’s plans at the beginning of the arc, and the large fishman army he had. It’s not like it was revealed at a later date and Jimbei was just as surprised that Hodi’s hatred would make him kill his own kind and murder the queen. Man, if only Jimbei was a homicidal tyrant with no tact, he should’ve just murdered the whole lot of them with no real judgment whatsoever! like Marlo…

I can’t believe it’s still good. Out of hundreds of anime that I watched, One Piece is only one of six anime of all time that hasn’t managed to disappoint me. Which is amazing considering the fact that I consider almost everything to be trash.
It occurred to me that outside of Luffy, almost everyone post time skip is primed for a new nickname. Although outside of two easy guesses (Weather Witch and Soul King) and a possible one (General/Shogon) I can’t for the life of me think what the others could possible called.
Don’t forget about Mansopp.
Who do you guys want for the first major arc villain in the New World?
I personally want to see Doflamingo dealt with, he’s been riding scott free for so long I think it’s due time to see him go flying. His ability seems like one of the most broken around, and I’ve been dying to know what the specifics of it are.
This. You took the answer straight out of my brain. I don’t think they’re going to dive straight into one of the Yonkou. Doflamingo seems more of Luffy’s speed right about now. Out of the Shichibukai I don’t see them running into Mihawk until much later once Zoro is ready to overcome him, Kuma is a possibility but I feel like he’s going to play a much larger role than the rest due to his ties with Dragon, and Hancock is an ally. Buggy might poke his head back in before any of them though. Hopefully he leveled up too.
