I always thought these transformations are instantaneous and it’s only being slowed down for the sake of the audience.
Apart from a few shows that do instant cutaways most transformations seem quite extensive. Mecha transformations could never be super-fast like Voltron for example, too much complex maneuvering to be “instantaneous.”
Maybe it’s because everyone’s trying to get a glimpse of her cooch while she transforms and see if the carpet matches the drapes.
lol
Oh and I need to make an addendum on something. It was X Drake who encountered Kaidou’s flunkie not Basil Hawkins, he’s the one that raped Brownbeard’s bitchass.
Toei is getting Hiroshi Kitadani, the singer of the first opening theme, ‘We Are,’ to perform the next opening theme which is beginning October 2nd. The song will be called ‘We Go,’ and it will kick off the start of the Fishman Island Saga!
I like.
Final Arc intro should be "WE WIN!"
Looks like a debate on this thread has been settled. Dang.
Trouble Overhead
[details=Spoiler] So Oda visually confirmed Decken’s death, officially making it the first non-flashback/ non-protagonist character to visibly die in One Piece. Oda was saving all the reality of piracy and combat for the second half of his story.
So my theory about Brook vs Zeo hold true, I am glad. Daruma vs Ussop I didn’t really see coming though, but it’s cool.[/details]
New World One Piece is serious bidniz.
Other than Zoro vs the sword dude, I didn’t guess a single match up.
Spoiler
Decken can’t be dead. What was the purpose of Oda emphasizing the fact that he used his left hand to “lock on to” Hody, then? He probably just fell unconscious.
(Ah, no chapter next week. Profound sad…damn it, I’ve overused that and I don’t even use Guy. Hell, I haven’t even “seriously” played SSFIV: AE in a couple of months, but anyway.)
Yeah, I didn’t see any of the match-ups coming sans Luffy vs. Hodi and Zoro vs. the…blue ring octopus guy whose name I keep forgetting. It’s rather nice to see Usopp/Mansopp be more confident in itself without having lie his ass off or anyone having to get hurt before hand.
While I agree that New World will fuck you up, I didn’t see that scene quite the same.

[details=Spoiler]I took the whole foaming from the mouth thing to just show that he had slipped into unconsciousness. I mean, it’s pretty obvious that Hodi fucked up him something fierce, but I don’t think he’s quite dead yet. He could be, though, but I just don’t think it’s all that clear cut–haha–yet.
I’ll laugh my ass off if he does die, but only because “Noah” crushed him after it destroyed Fishman Island’s bubble.[/details]

Based on experience
Spoiler
Unless it’s Haki related unconscious individuals in the series usually don’t have the frothing at the mouth and the chilly, black exterior usually synonymous with being “scared to death” or “ghostly”; if it isn’t death, then it would be a Decken specific reaction into slipping into an unconscious state.
I just figured being stabbed through with a trident and then hacked through with an axe was supposed to emphasize a point of his character being dead. But this is still One Piece…
Pell…
I was under the impression that Decken gets knocked unconscious because he lost his balance and hit his head, due to the ship suddenly turning sideways.
Not that I disagree with you, White Shadow; Decken should have died from those wounds. It’s just that those last few panels seem to suggest that homeboy isn’t “sleeping with the fishes” yet–well, at least not in the Sicilian metaphorical sense.
I figure he’s going to shake it off right before Noah hits the island. Then get up and do a fucking cartwheel.
I think it would be silly if Decken doesn’t die at this point. The man was run through by a trident and an axe. Decken doesn’t strike me as being durable.
He IS still a fishman. They are pretty thick, despite Decken’s goofy appearance.
We still don’t know if Decken’s power requires him to be conscious to work so unless he falls down some stairs, I’m giving him a 50/50 shot.
Upshot is that unless Madam Shirley mistook Luffy for Decken, Luffy is the one who destroys the city.
(Yeah, Vander Decken’s fate about whether he’s dead in the water is pretty up in the air.)
Actually, considering all Madam Shirley saw was a brown-ish hat and the fact that Decken is the one that “threw” Noah, which currently is falling towards Fishman Island, so that’s entirely possible.
I really don’t know why I keep forgetting that when I remember almost everyone else’s name. Maybe because he hasn’t really done much yet.
Ha, true, especially since Pell was still the first person I thought of when saw how nebulous Vander Decken’s fate seems to be right now. Pell must have armor of haki out the ass (even if Robin rofl-stomped him).
