Luffy can put individual parts of his body in Gear 2nd now. Him moving that fast could simply be him putting his legs on Gear 2 to make that flash step.
(That’s probably it. Still weird to see, though.)
I can see the next chapter being exposition-heavy, especially since Hodi and crew are getting beasted and that ark is about to break things up.
And by “things”, I mean the entire island.
I’m aware of this. You said, “I wonder what Poseidon’s meant by…”, which, unless you think the ark can talk, made me think you would talking King Neptune and just used his “other” name by accident.
what if the fishman race were actually decendants of the people that used to rule the islands before the world government took over 900 years ago? and that they migrated from the surface to the bottom of the ocean using the arc noah? Which is now being saved for when they’ll be allowed to come back up to the service.
It was doublespeak.
Nice theory, it does work form the angle of explaining the origin of Fishmen/Mermen in general but my intuition still lingers on the lost “D” race that have a few surviving members still alive today being the descendants of the Lost Civilization.
It’s possible but Oda usually makes indicators of some kind (steam trail) which he didn’t. Shanks displayed a faster-than-Soru speed when dodging Whitebeard’s liquor toss (while in a legs folded position no less) and didn’t use Soru, which tells me that there is even a higher level of speed one can achieve.
The fact that Soru is already confirmed by Oda to be supersonic makes this insane as is. I think Haki can probably explain the phenomenon.
I mostly believe that the D’s are tied into the lost civilization, but the thought crossed my mind.
There’s a rumor that there might be a One Piece Musou game for the PS3.
It’s a rumor BTW, so we’ll see if there’s any truth to it next week…
Damn, Luffy is too beast. Mad props to Hodi for still standing after taking all that punishment from Luffy, though. Guess he’s not a complete scrub, lol.
It’s kind of weird watching Oda transform Luffy…similar to Kishi transforming Naruto - in a way where their abilities early on in the series…helped them, but were far from the upper tiers of abilities, but as the series progresses, they stack in a manner to make the pieces better than the whole. Luffy’s devil fruit…aint really all the special. He’s made it work, but we’ve seen FAR more powerful fruits. He adds the gear ability and he takes it to the next level to physically keep up with superior opponenets - now adding in haki has made him a melee combat god almost - invulnerable, able to deflect your attacks back at you, keep you in his reach, etc…It’s like Seth’s speed with Dhalsim’s stretch, and Gief’s damage output and health. None of his abilities by themselves would be over the top, but that combonation of them all, REALLY has him up there right now.

637 aka the Ark debut
[details=Spoiler] Oda is working on damage control to make it seem like Hodi is not just a punk bitch this chapter with some comments from Luffy praising his durability to keep getting up after Luffy smacks him down. As well as him pulling a disappearing act and jumping up on Noah after Van Decken shows up intending to wipe everyone out.
Meanwhile Shirahoshi tries to divert the ark by leaving the plaza, Van Decken tosses a knife or something hitting her (how does a knife wound some that big though?) and of course Luffy is heading up to Noah. Looking very much like a three way battle unless Sanji joins up as well.
It does appear pretty cool that Luffy seems to have mastered his haki to the point he can distribute it to any part of his body, although the fact that he has yet to crush Hodi from getting up probably proves that he has a bit to go before taking on a Yonkou or admiral. [/details]
The stage is set, innocent blood has been spilled and Luffy is going fishing.
Shirahoshi
Spoiler
I stood there and looked at the panel where Shirahoshi got hit by that dagger and actually wondered why I couldn’t really tell where she got hit. Then I remembered she’s fricking huge. It looked like a little squirt of blood about equal to me getting stabbed with a pen.
(She got hit in the right arm/shoulder, for the record.)
Ah, damn. I forgot to check the last chapter for Brooke and then he reappears for this one. Lol.
Speaking of checking things, though, I need to check the geography of Fishman Island again since I once again confused. I’m pretty horrible at visualizing things, though, especially geography and topography.
Weird to see Gear 2 isolated in limbs like that. Have we seen him use Gomu Gomu no Kane/Bell since Kuro?
“Musou”?
Musou is the general term for Dynasty Warriors games from KOEI.
It seems Luffy’s iron hardness doesn’t necessarily imitate iron but it’s just a representation of hard his body becomes when imbued with Bosushoku Haki, since those turtle shell-shields are supposed to be just as hard if not harder. Neat stuff.
Loving the instant synergy between the Mugiwaras even though they’ve just realized each others’ new abilities.
I admire Shirahoshi even more now, selflessness + helplessness =
Now we just have to sit back and enjoy the show!
I love the upcoming threesome Decken-Hodi-Luffy
Hodi’s fishman karate really is shit compared to Jimbei’s, speaking of which, I love the pic of him strangling that random fishman mook when everyone notices the giant ship.
Although I do have to admit that Hodi is a genius at absorbing Luffy’s attack with his face.
Those steroids are more like PCP.
Pain Canceling Pills
The cool thing about a flying Sanji (other than the cleavage peeping) is that his de facto role as the crew’s spy and saboteur is now amped up to super levels!
damn they reall are like PCP…
No wonder Hodi is taking all that damage…

I wonder why it took so long, I mean, One Piece is perfect for a Musou type game. Especially after the Whitebeard War.
Fuck Musou game. Give me fighting game!
