Just caught up [spoiler=]lol at Luffy sleeping through Jinbe’s story and his 400 mil. bounty, wonder what the others is?
More info on the Poneglyphs, really looking forward to these things being resolved X3
I’m hoping something will have Jinbe let Luffy fight Hordy, I’m rather itching for it[/spoiler]
Wow it seems Luffy actually has a real challenger now.
Just Say No!
[details=Spoiler] It seems Roidy Jones underwent some kind of metabolic change due to the all the steroids and is now Fishman Fabio. I’m sure he was slated to die but his will to live overpowered the effects of the drugs and caused him to manifest his body’s full potential (probably costing him most of his lifespan).
It’s nice to see that the Royal Princes aren’t jobbers and can at least take down the sea beasts in one strike. Luffy and Jinbei finally came to a agreement, Jinbei must get his ass handed to him first for Luffy to step in and save the day. [/details]
I can’t wait to see how Luffy’s Haki abilities and raw power deals with this level of augmented strength?
Also, Hody’s balls must be the size of sand pebbles by now.
New chapter and them Mermaid Princes ain’t no punk bitches.
631
[details=Spoiler] The new chapter seems to skipping toward the climax of Hodi’s rebellion faster then I expected.
Hodi on the drugs under went a transformation losing his belly fat (which honestly sucks because we don’t have enough beer belly villains these days besides Teach) , start rocking white hair and a supposed power up. That being said, I get the feeling he will get dealt with pretty soon pulling the craziness of Van Decken and maybe Caribu to the center stage.
Got to wonder what Jimbei did to Luffy to get him to let him and Shirahoshi go on there own.
[/details]
Hody was just God-modded into a credible antagonist for this arc.
Zoro is gonna break out the cage, give Hordy one more cut to match the last one so that he has an X on his chest, then take a nap. Calling it now.
I agree with you, would have prefered the 2-liter to the 6-pack…maybe an arm only upgrade >_<’ ?
- :bluu:
Normally I’d agree, but given that fact that he’s supposed to represent one of the most sleek and badass species of fish in the ocean, and the largest predatory fish on earth, I don’t think a kegger is a good look.
I knew he was going to transform, but I was expecting some RE Nemesis-looking mofo with his skin ripping apart because of his overzealous muscles not Gill.
(get it?!)
How do you feel, captain?
INCREDIBLE.
LOL when I first saw the transformed Hody spread, it took me a minute to realize who he was! Crazy OP randomness.
The cover page is now bothering me, part of me wants to say it’s Shiki because of the hair design (albeit shorter than past Shiki) and the fact that we can’t see this person’s feet or the top of their head. Perfect obscurity.
It also makes sense that he would “break bread” with one of the former Roger crew member, since they were once rival crews in a bygone era. Still, if I’m right it’s still a shock to me.
I was checking the Rogers crew and there seems to be a guy with long hair who seems to be distinct enough to be an important crewmate. I think it might be the “Bronze” guy mentioned in the Green Data Book, but I’m not sure since I notice the character in the pic has the same striped jacket as Shiki.
Gaaaah!!! I don’t know anymore!!!
(Heh. Only you would worry about this.)
Yeah, there wasn’t much to say about Chapter 630, though the Zeo…incident was amusing and I too enjoyed the Icarus reference. I also thought Hordy was going at least pass out considering he basically only regained conscious after Zorro Iaido’d his ass due to the steroids in the first place.
I guess that’s why Chapter 631 was rather surprising for…multiple reasons. Nice to see all that the princes aren’t jobbers, though I wasn’t expecting them to be. I was just expecting them to have struggle a bit against the sea beasts, but apparently those are fodder–poor sea giraffee–to them. Makes me wonder how strong Neptune is when he’s at full strength, even in his old age…
Lol. Despite having given up on Naruto a couple of years ago, this sounds about right. After all, Naruto isn’t completely terrible unlike Bleach so it can have its sustained moments in brief “puffs”.

KAMI!!!
Damn I never knew Bleach was hurting that bad (9th place) and that Gantz was that popular.
some surprised fairy tail is number 5. it better be if your biting the art of the #1 stunnaaa!!!
only in japan can you get away with ripping off someone else’s art…and call it a career.
(This is completely unrelated, but given that SWBeta posts here more than the Lounge thread, I figured that I should inform him that I’ll try to have the Disneypocalypse done by the end of this month. I just need to get this computer to point where it can stream things without going into conniption fits so that I can watch Netflix [and some other things].)
Dear Ultima, One Piece has sold that many volumes? 23 million going on 24 million? It’s 8 times ahead of it’s closest competitor? (Which isn’t even Naruto, heh.)
…Number One Piece indeed.
Nick Simmons would like a word with you. As would Greg Land and some other American comic “artists”.
Also, is it really “ripping off” if the guy was a student of Oda? Or should the “student” part be in quotations? I’ve yet to read Fairy Tail so I honestly don’t know and haven’t confirmed anything about the guy and his relationship to Oda.
Does anybody get the feeling that Fishman Island is being used as a “testing ground” for the Energy Pills? The side effect gives off a hint of being “unrefined” and just being tested more for military/Yonkou use. The fact that Oda hasn’t explained their origin yet means that their origin hold some storyline importance.
even if someones a student your influenced by the artists…you pick up certain things…but this is far more than just being a student. its the exact same art without the real flare.
the best quote i heard was from marvel exec…“we hire you to be you, not someone else…if we wanted that we’d just hire mike mignola” he was talking bout how so many kids copy mike’s style.
as an artist myself its hard as hell to develop a unique style and voice…and to take anothers so heavily cheapens your work.
I think both Oda and Mashima were influenced by Toriyama. If you look at early One Piece and Mashima’s earlier manga Rave, they draw heavy inspiration (artistically) from Toriyama’s work, who they both cite as their biggest influence. I think a lot of people, myself included, thought that Mashima was an assistant to Oda before, but I recently read this article.
At first glance Fairy Tail looks similar to One Piece, but after reading it for a while, they look completely different to me. In my opinion, Fairy Tail has more traditional manga artwork (e.g., most characters are “good-looking”, like Naruto, Bleach, etc.), whereas Oda loves drawing totally off-the-wall characters. I mean, if you look at this recent arc for One Piece (with all the Mer-folk, Fish-people, etc.), there is really no manga that looks similar to Oda, at least none that I can think of.
Agreed. I read the same about Oda and Mashima being influenced by Toriyama. There are SLIGHT similarities between Oda and Mashima, but just to say he is jacking Oda’s style of art is reaching a bit. I’ve been reading both for a while now and that’s not the case at all imo. Nobody’s characters ever have the outrageously creative style like Oda’s to begin with.
