On the verge of giving up

Ops post is tl;dr, no offense. Ill give you this bit of advice that helped me stick with the game. Pick a top/topish tier that you like.Even if youre not too fond of any of them, try one out anyway. They all have something to like about them. Get over the whole not “selling-out” mentality. Try to incorporate that character with others that you already liked. If you put in time with them, you should have more success. I also suggest picking something and sticking with it. You can go ahead and change the team up once you get a stronger grip on the game.

Take a look at the top players. Do you see them changing their teams and characters up all the time?

Yes. A lot of the fun in this game is finding a team that has some good synergy, and then learning all the intricacies of that team.

I dont. I see top players winning with the same characters they’ve been playing for a while now.

Oh no, I was agreeing with you. The Yes was in agreement, not in response to the question

Welcome to Marvel. Maybe the absolute worst first fighting game you could start with. Other street fighter games teach the concepts of spacing and space control…Marvel takes spacing and space control to the ridiculous.

That being said, the biggest problem for most beginners is learning the neutral game. Don’t worry too much about combos. Just like in boxing, you want to hit without getting hit. You learn that, and you’ll be fine. Defense comes first; combos are meaningless if you get hit too much.

Secondly, find a training partner around your skill level. Work on getting better together. You’re not going to be high level in one month. It might take you one month just to learn one matchup.

Or in the case of XF3 Vergil, just blatantly throws it out the window and makes you pray to god.

God is good.

You’re very wrong on many counts. Thor can get in fairly easily with Mystic Ray/Cold Star/Shopping Cart. His movement isn’t obvious, but it’s probably the most important part of his game to get down. He’s the most mobile Heavy by a wide margin and you need to take full advantage of that. Plink dashing is crucial.

Mighty Smash is a bad assist, spark is easily his best assist. Thor and Frank have loads of Synergy as well. Mighty Punish dhc to Funny Face Crusher is just plain unfair. Tools of Survival can DHC into Mighty Punish then hard tag for a camera shot. You get the soft knockdown from tornado when up high in the air for 2 camera shots with assists. You can hard tag into frank off mighty smash or mighty hurricane.

Thor/Frank/Dante could work as a team (Thor/Dante/Frank as well) if you feel he 100% needs one of the tippy top tier.

As for assists, for the love of God don’t just pick an OTG assist, that’s a complete waste in most cases. Try Cold Star

Of the characters he mentioned, Thor/Frank/Ammy would make a very serviceable team.

Anyway, to the OP, don’t give up and don’t always listen to other people. They often don’t know what they’re talking about.
