hey man. he’s the most motivated to practice and play. he deserves it. come play some third strike some time though. It’s a whole different scene with a whole different set of people. I’d say a lot of people out here are just as good as East or West coast players.

Look at it this way…
Your good at 3s, really good.
Your playing at the arcade and a new player come over and gives it a shot.
You expose him, good work.
But… now that kid moves on to a different game because he didnt even get close in that match.
Now what I think when I get beat that bad, is that I need to work on my game to make it better.
But lets be real, these kids nowadays want instant gratification, if they dont win or dont even stand a chance… “this game sucks” and they move on.
3s doesnt allow new players to compete at all unless they put in time and learn the game and compete to get better.
As bad as everyone say SSF4 is, it allowed anyone to compete new or not.
If you were a first time player playing a pro, one random Ultra that connects and your back in the game. You may lose but you did ok, so I am going to get better at this game and compete.
Super brought the fighting game community back to life after 3s killed it.
Just my opinion, there are a lot of people that LOVE that game, Im just not one of them.

I see your point, but honestly, you can say that about any game prior to SF4.
I grew up on 3S man, from age 14 until now (7 years). I’m one of those kids that got beat, but rather than walking away it motivated me to get better.
So I gotta disagree.
And SSF4 seems to be pretty similar to 3S, at least in the way you described it.
A new player in SSF4, playing a pro who practices on a regular basis, is going to get beat just as bad and often as in 3rd Strike.
It’s just not going to look quite so impressive. But whatever. They are very different games and I try not to compare them too much.
But my preference is always 3S, and I know a lot of people agree with me out here. Many people in Omaha think it was one of the best fighting games ever made. It seems like the majority of the fighting game community feels that way too.

Got some pics from the tourney. As always, I take off early. We played outside because they were doing something to the carpet in the middle backroom. It was either play in the dusty back backroom or play outside. This is my setup from outside. Jamarr was playing against Joe. Simon won Marvel. I couldn’t tell you 3s or SF4.
Also, Tilt at Westroads is selling cabs for $95. If you guys are interested in chipping in or whatever, let me know. They have a few SvC cabs and a MvC1 cab. It is bat top which I hate, but I am going to see if I can switch it to be ball top and try to throw a 360 in there or PC with emulators.

Every two weeks at Coliseum Gaming. 1st and 3rd Friday of every month. 1st Friday (last week) was singles. 3rd Friday is 2v2. We are playing Marvel, SSF4AE, and 3S
we got tournaments in kansas to man, where do you live in kansas bc i know wichita and KC host monthly tournaments
I know lol, I got some buds up in Lincoln (and omaha) from when I spent time as a student @ UNL. They keep telling us to come up so we’re planning to.

I don’t know if I am going. Last time I went, my HDTV got taken over for dark souls, my xbox got taken over for 3rd Strike and I got shit to do tonight. There’s a 5% chance I am going.
You need to speak up son and take back what is rightfully yours, especially for ancient crappy games like third strike. 8) And while it is casual gaming, tell them to go play Dark souls at thier own place. Colliseum is supposed to be for fighting games. Show them who is boss.
I understand but these guys only come to play 3S. I can’t tell them no. I just don’t feel like going tonight.
