In all honesty I don’t see much of a problem with his name and I don’t like the idea of changing it, should people come in from Seattle or wherever I don’t like the idea of having them change their name because it doesn’t fit our standards. If it’s something like turdfuck then no we’re not going to refer to him as that but if he really wants to be known as turdfuck wherever he goes then we shouldn’t deny him his rep at our tourney and as a name tag on our videos, as long as we’re not going “Lets go turdfuck!” at Gabi’s its fine.
What? I meant OCC as the group, not Gabi’s. Listen, if you seriously don’t understand how someone using a racist slur as their tag just because it was a joke in a decent at best movie hurts their image and the images of everyone associated with them, then I don’t know what to say.
You used turdfuck as an example, so let’s go with that. So suppose some guy introduces himself as turdfuck, you probably think a) he’s immature. b) he’s probably an asshole. If he brought friends, you probably wonder why they’re friends with an immature asshole. Now maybe you get to know turdfuck, and he’s actually a pretty cool guy, but it will take you longer to get to that point, because he introduced himself as turdfuck, and why the fuck do you want to know turdfuck.
This isn’t about forcing Jay to change his name, but if you guys are serious about all your talk about leveling up your game, and repping Oly and all that other stuff, than why introduce yourselves with a racist caricature? I get that you guys want to support each others decisions, but if Jay wanted to support your decisions about Oly’s community and how it should be represented, i.e. as a serious group of players who want to get better, than I’m sure he could do better than stealing a joke from a Kevin Smith cash-in.

We could argue hypothetical examples about names and we would get no where. For example, what if his legal name was “turdfuck” and he wanted to go by that? What if he wanted to go by “My Niggah”? Some people don’t think its offensive while some do. What if he wants to be “OhanaKiller”? You see where I’m going here…
The point I’m trying to make is that he has a right to his chose the name he wants to use for whatever reason. I asked him if he was serious about it and he said, yes. Now whether or not that was a lie remains to be seen but I can only respect his decisions as a human being. While I do agree that it can bring a negative stigma to all of us, but as a friend I am willing to walk with that stigma along side him and that applies to everyone else. If he is being selfish then let him be, yet again he has that right. We all have that right.

Just wanted to say I think we ended up with a great result that to me represents the beginning of many significant contributions that our little group could make to the community as a whole. While legitimacy has never been our number one concern, this shit is starting to look pretty damn legit.
I would also like to thank everyone for the opportunity and for the support I got on the mic. It means a lot to hold the responsibility of repping Oly fight club, and it also must mean you guys think I know at least a little what I’m talking about. B)

I feel that anything that we produce that is associated with OCC should in all ways respect the name of the shop. We are essentially sponsored by OCC. I said the words OCC probably ten times throughout. It is for this reason we should keep any and all handles that are included in any piece of work associated with OCC family friendly. My argument has nothing to do with how we are repping ourselves and everything to do with how we are repping the shop.
The thing is adding the names in later in no way violates any shop rules so at the end of the day it’s kind of a tossup.

Yo Vincent you are the smartest of us all. I had my suspicions that the microphone was muted and indeed it was. Fortunately you un-muted it at the end and got some of your commentary in.
Because there was no feedback no one could tell if they were being recorded or not. I turned it off because the feedback was very strong creating a high pitched sound during playback.

The last match will be up some time tomorrow. I can’t sleep because I have this burning desire to Run… Stop… Fierce… But besides that I also have ideas for other projects in mind. I would also like to diversify the games I capture, that would be cool as well and quite possibly run another tournament besides AE?
Also because I can’t seem to get internet services at OCC anymore I will have to use my phone for internet so I can log on to Xsplit. I can in fact stream through my phone as well but it would be ass because I can’t get 4G in Lacey.
Lastly, I need us to come up with a way to create a stable capturing setup. I am getting annoyed of fumbling through cables and playing musical chairs with the tv’s and consoles. We need to come up with a consensus, a standard if you may. I will draw up a few plans and make a few tests to see how smoothly things run but in the end its what we all can agree on. Finding a balance between the best quality I can capture with the least amount of latency interference. That is our goal gentlemen. With that I bid you goodnight and good luck.

I liked the tv we were using for the stream setup, as for getting on the internet you can try and ask them, see if they changed anything. But a cell phone would work just as well since your just trying to connect long enough to get xsplit
That’s too bad, I had my suspicions about the mute heh. Its OK we got some really nice match footage. I think the grand finals would be great to post on the Ken and sim video forums.
I would absolutely like to see a lot of capturing over the next couple of weeks to get the technique honed. I’m thinking Josh that maybe we could get a better use of the space that’s been provided to us, maybe just by pusjing the table against a wall or something. Do both of those couches need to even be there? What does that space get used for when we’re not around? Man I kind of want to look into using a classroom at evergreen or spscc or something, we’re outgrowing gabi’s.
Ryan or Armand if we got club status at evergreen would that work? Then we’d have wifi too.
There might even be a reasonable way to just rent out some cheap multipurpose room somewhere.
Oh josh I see where you’re going with that, just an easier way to set up the cap cards and stuff. My last post stands but is mostly.irrelevant to your points.
Just let us know if there’s anything we can do to help, whether that means searching for spare cables and such or bringing USB mics.
However we can get the capturing setup to the point where it’s a no brainer that can just kind of run in the background and get put together or taken down in a min or two is ideal. That way you can still play and chill out and we will be more apt to capture more content.
No both points are very relevent. I honestly think we need to cut the umbilical cord soon. Evergreen sounds pretty good and maybe we could get more students involved. Ya I intended to have it user friendly but man those CRT’s just eat up the space and messing with those cables! >:(
I’m going to do some latency tests on the monitors and Tv’s I own. If the tests prove unsatisfactory I might have to invest in a HD PRO BOX that way we can free up some space by using monitors instead. I know a lot of people don’t like to hd tv’s because of latency issues but as long as the hdtv is tested through the vga port and if it has 10 milliseconds or less of latency then I believe it would be fine.
My ultimate goal is to have a Mid tower PC completely dedicated to streaming that anyone of us can use at a given time. Having our own equipment like monitors and systems that are dedicated to the club so we don’t need to drag our equipment from home and back again. But that is obviously just a dream for now.
