Olympia Fightclub!

Tonight, Lopez and I are streaming @ http://www.ustream.tv/channel/friday-fighting-games if people are bored as shit and want to see us get bodied hard at all fighting games

EDIT: Thanks for watching. We could have more people come over but then who would watch the damn stream?

I hope you guys stream on Sunday, give me some good stuff to watch.

Also, I’m gonna need Josh, Armand, Ryan, and anyone else familiar enough with MvC3 mechanics to keep training Kevin for Battle for Seattle. Just play matches/training mode with him and have him not attack and try to open him up, and vice versa. Matches where you try to zone him out (not my forte). I am placing all of my eggs in his MvC3 basket.

Just so everyone knows, I’ll be calling all of your mothers to wish them ‘Happy Mother’s Day!’ in the event that you forget. No charge.

Happy Mothers day to Mother Russia!

Anyway, anyone here in Olympia area have a PS2 console w/ memory card for sale? Looking for at least one RPG game too, let me know if you have one, as i need it before Thursday.

Alright so here’s whats going on with the play live situation. When I went in and talked to him I basically asked him what he can provide for us outside of a place to play and what I got was he say’s he can get us sponsors and more than that wants to pay our way into tournaments. So he’s trying to be E.G or Empire which I can kinda get behind even though I’m not sure he’s intentions are anything other than profit. I’m going to draw up a contract for us and if you guys like the look of it and he accepts it we’ll try him out.

Fridays 5-10 (negotiable)
-top 3 Super street fighter IV
-top 3 Marvel 3
-top 1 MK9
The top 3 belt holders for each category will be sponsored and play live will pay for their travel, entry and room (if necessary) for any major fighting game tournament and evo sponsored event. (I need a list of names and dates of each said events so i can present him with a clear list of our tournament intentions, lets keep it west coast so nothing in newyork or anything)

We will pay 10-15 dollars a month to do our league, we don’t need to entirety of his store so while we’re playing and hanging out there he can rent out setups to other people. (thus the reduced league price)

Any money I get as the league leader goes to streaming equipment, paying Lopez’s electricity bill and helping eachother out with gas, stick repair ect. This is assuming he gives me a cut if I haggle him down to a reduced league price.

First Friday of every month (or every-other month) will be a tournament anyone can enter, top 8 get ranking points for play live league meaning someone not part of the league can become sponsored or choose to become sponsored. This is for singles only he didn’t seem to like the idea of team tournaments.

What do you guys think?

^ What do I think. It might be good to try it out remember the saying “tap that before you have that”. Ok back to real talk, the only reason I would like to try it out is to get new people and to see if they can get us sponsors. If its terns bad then we can leave them.

Sorry to rain on everyone’s parade with rationale, but the odds of this guy giving a flying fuck about truly sponsoring anyone to go anywhere are roughly the same odds as me winning the lottery (which, if i do, I will gladly sponsor all of you:tup:)

When we went and talked to him, he was talking about sending us to international tournaments and stuff and I just didn’t think the guy knew what kind of expenses are involved with international- hell, even national play.

The problem with games, specifically fighting games, is that the people that are elite enough to be interested in these tournaments don’t give a damn about what logo is on a player’s shirt etc.

Unlike in a real sport like the NBA, where players get a “league minimum” around $500,000, in Street Fighter, if you’re not placing in the top 3 or so, you’re not getting paid at all, which is insane.

Don’t get me wrong, we should milk this for all we can, but I just don’t want anyone to get TOO hyped for things which are mostly likely empty promises :frowning:

If it’s the same guy from the Tacoma Mall PlaySmart store then I don’t have high hopes for his involvement/interest for the fighting game community of Olympia. Who knows, maybe he’s changed since I met him in Tacoma, but from XeroxHands’ initial encounter it doesn’t seem so. He really should reach out to Chris from GameClucks LAN center in Lynnwood to get a better understanding of how to successfully tap into the fighting game community. Chris has been doing it for years with Smash/Halo/CoD and has been good the people of the SF/Marvel community in Seattle ever since he started doing tournaments last summer.

I don’t think many of us (if any) are on cloud 9 about this. If we can’t get what we want from it, we’ll just say fuck it. But here’s hoping we get something good out of this!

You guys should try it for a couple of months, worse case scenario you waste $45…I think its a good gamble to take if you can at least get one or two people to join Olympia Fight Club.

The only thing i dont like about it is that effects Mother Russia on Fridays.

Don’t worry rcadio Mother Russia is grater then play live. If they don’t respect us we can go to your place. It’s as easy as a DOOM flow chart.

Are they in the corner? - Yes
Is DOOM in? - Yes
Dose he have a hyper meter? - Yes

To all  Olymipa Fight Club Members  I was thinking we should have a BBQ at Lopez’s on the 22nd of May. Why? The last Sunday of May most of us will be at BFS. First I need to talk to Lopez to see if its fine. If its all good all we need to do is put in like $5 and we could get burgers, hot-dogs, buns, and drinks. Want to know what you guys think?

Sounds like a good idea to me.

My goal at BFS is to not be 2 and BBQ when it comes to the brackets. Let this be my official last BBQ.

You lost me at “BBQ when it comes to the brackets”… :looney:

BBQ’s are great! Let this next one never be your last.

2 and BBQ. Like 2 games, and then he’s barbecued.

So the BBQ on the 22nd will be his last barbecue.

This has been the overanalyzing report of the day.

I thought you guys were talking about the twins eating BBQ…

Anyway, going to make a roll call on who is going to Battle of Seattle. You guys should pre-register already. This will help Julian out a lot(airthrow) You guys also will save $5, so post here if you done this already…Also post up which games you might compete in…
