why is everyone acting like these unblockables are the end of the world? They are really situational, frame specific, and mostly escape able. Now show me some people dominating tournaments with this and we’ll talk.

Why wait that long to fix something that shouldn’t be in the game in the first place? This isn’t a Vs. game. “Proper” Street Fighter can’t have game breaking mechanics because they are too easily abused. If this was Marvel there would be tons of other broken shit to balance out the brokeness, but this isn’t the case with SF4, or SSF4.
I do agree they are situational, and there are ways to get out of them, but most of the time that means eating the fireball and then taking the chip damage of a blocked ultra. That is stupid as fuck, and if it is easily patched, then why not just fix it?

Who’s to say what shouldn’t be in the game in the first place? Look at CvS2, roll cancel was GAMEBREAKING in a lot of peoples minds, and certainly was a hot topic of debate at the time. In retrospect, a lot of people would say that SAVED the scene in the long run. Look at unblockables in 3S, they made one character viable (Urien) and gave another a very useful tool in a lot of matchups (Oro), and those are MUCH less unsafe to use, much more practical to use, and hell, end up doing a whole lot more damage.
And plus, I fail to see how this is broken. Even if we are assuming people can nail it 100% of the time, which I would say is a stretch, you get an ultra and one fireball of damage. For Sagat, you can easily get more damage out of a traded SRK. Seth’s ultra does so little damage that its usually more valuable as a threat than for actually hitting people. Rose and Ken, well, they could USE a decent way of landing an ultra.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m confident capcom is going to patch this out, I just think people need to stop getting so worked up about something that’s just a little blip on the radar.
Oh, and lest I forget, patching games through microsoft is neither trivial nor free, I can’t see capcom going through that process for this alone.
word!!! I’m trying to figure out where I’m going this weekend, and this is a lot closer than Arkansas, so I’m more inclined to head up there, but my decision will be based solely on the expected # of TvC heads at either event.
the only people amongst us that truly play TvC is me, Aegis, and Humbag. We are trying to get more people into it which is why we are forcing people to play lol. Also its good to note that this is a free ranbat.

Im definitely gonna be getting into TvC over the summer when I actually have the game. Right now, I don’t have any access outside of game nights so its really hard to get good or anything, but i’ll definitely participate at the ranbat on friday for teh lulz.
Definitely want to learn to use Joe the Condor, even though he probably is low tier…i like his character so much though. Now to find a partner…
Also, my view on the unblockable stuff. I think a lot of people don’t like it simply because its such a stupid game mechanic that causes it. not being able to block when your character gets googly eyes? Thats such a lame cause. I didn’t really play 3rd strike at all, but Uriens unblockable was because of being hit from opposite sides and was a cool mechanic…at least I think so. Yeah, just my two cents.

I was thinking polimar or morrigan, cept I have no idea how they would work together. For the ranbat i’ll probably just use ryu because he’s pretty easy to use at a low level.
lol i was just messing around about Jun. Polymar, Morrigan, and Ryu all have good assists so having Joe on point would be ideal.

Gief in SF4 is the scrubbiest character of them all.

And this is coming from someone who thinks gief is actually pretty fair in sf4 to begin with.
The thing is, compared to the other high tier characters he is the easiest to win with by far because of his bullshit hitboxes on lariets and shit.
Now that lariet is nerfed as well as damage on his u1 and green hand gief is going to have to work a little to win.
Also, Murph, ive been saying that since they have been found. Sure these unblocks are dumb and shouldnt exist but they are not very game breaking AT ALL.
Gief would RULE sf4 if there was no sagat/Seth.
