I think it starts at like 12, but I dont know if you want to be there for other games or not. They are doind TvC before SF4, so Christian might wanna get there a little early to warm up and whatnot.

**I would like to propose trying a new format for our game nights.
I’ve been giving this a lot of thought and I would like to TRY (not permanent, just a trial) a new format.
Instead of just free play as we have been doing, I would like to have the next big gamenight (after spring break) actually be like a local ranbat/tourney.
We will gather everyone’s name together who is there (yes everyone MUST compete!), and randomly create a tourney bracket.
Rules will be tourney rules, but SINGLE elimination to avoid the hassles of re-bracketing after a loss.
We play until there is a winner.
If that goes over well, I’d like to setup a 2v2 Mini teams tourney the following week, so long as we can gather 8 players to form four 2 man teams.
I got this idea because I was talking to Valle today in another thread and he mentioned his website/project (http://www.levelup-series.com/) where he is leveling people up fast using more structure than just free play.**
IN fact, he has nights where the bottom three players in that night’s tourney, are banned from returning for a week. That is to incentivize people to play well with some real pressure, just like a tourney.
I don’t want to go that far, but I would like to try this out for one gamenight and see what people think.
Shit, he even offered to help me with this, by offering advice about how to organize it…but before I take up any of his time, I’d like to try this basic format first, I think it could be a LOT of fun.

We should think of a cool name for our Blanka/Chun team, and I assume you will anchor.
I’m so hyped for this. I would definitely like to get there a bit early to get some practice in but if not I’m just going to have to be clutch as hell and win regardless lol
Well, I was looking at the schedule, and TvC starts at 12pm, so if Christian needed to get some warm up in before the tournament starts, we would probably have to be on the road by 9am.
But yea, sounds good Chris. I say our team name should be “ChunBlankable” Like, Chun Li and Blanka, mixed with the word unblockable all together. What do you think?
Also, I agree with the new format for game night, except we should do double elimination simply because there arent that many of us, so we could easily do double elim. Plus you can use challonge.com to make the double elimination brackets for you. I already have an account on that site too, so it will be super easy. It would make playing games on game night have purpose. Plus, I love a tournament atmosphere.
you could just use TIO which lets you make double elimination brackets i have the program for it.

Yeah, chris I have been wanting to do that as well. Even if its not for money playing in a structured tourny should help get us used to playing only 2/3 matches with added pressure.

**What: Champaign RanBat 1.1
When: Friday April 2nd, 6pm
Where: Humbag’s Apt (for now) 508 E Clark, Champaign IL
Games: SF4, TvC, Possible 3rd.
Format: Double Elimination bracket. Random placement. 2/3 matches, 3/5 WFs, LFs, GFs.**
Also I really want to try and get a real tourny going again here in Champaign after super comes out. Just need help finding a venue. Any CS majors in here that could possibly hook us up with the Seibel Center? I ran a tourny there way back during my freshman year.

Holy shit, you guys… I had an epiphany. I’m super, and I mean…SUPER baked, and for some reason I just went back and started watching the SUPER trailer again in slow motion. I realized something that might have just completely put me back on board for SUPER… I mean completely. Akuma’s Ultra: he IS spinning!!! I went back and watched it, like, 7 times, and I swear to you – he’s spinning. When it goes in slow-motion it’s like he’s hitting them with a flying dive kick, and he just has like a Hurricane Kick effect around him. Also, if you watch Cody’s Ultra really closely you’ll notice something. The only reason that I caught this finally was because the clip of the Ultra shows it killing Ryu, so it’s in slow-motion. Look at about :33 in, just as Cody starts the Ultra, he kicks dirt in Ryu’s face. While Ryu’s stunned, he reaches back into his shirt and pulls out the wrench. Then, if you watch reeeeeeally carefully, you’ll notice that a shock-wave goes through Ryu’s body starting from his head and traveling down to his feet. It literally breaks every bone in his body!! I also payed close attention to Cody, and I think the idea is that he smuggles the weapons into the fight like he’s in a prison yard. I guess I never really thought of it that way. :smokin:

Addison ranbat info: Brock and Christian, the doors open at 11am, stuff starts at Noon. I want us to be there no later than 11:30, and its a 2.5 hour drive. Lets plan to leave at 8:30. Brock, I’ll swing by your place first, then we will go get Christian and hit the road.
