Old school vs newcomers

I was playing this days to MVC2 and I see a little problem on the game with some old school.

The problem is the people who thinks that this is serious business and when see a lobby of scrubs still using god tiers and teams to think how good are they, looking for infinite combos and killing newcomers in 40 seconds.

Seriously, this is necessary?
Using mid tiers is not only bad, it is good against new people in the game, people learn a little and get some fun instead of being owned 2 times in 30 seconds and starts talking shit about the game.

For example, the other day looking a lobby full of scrubs, then enter a guy and starts using MMS SSB etc against teams with akumas, ryus, amingos, baby boonies, omega reds, etc etc and they look like “HEY SCRUBS, LOOK AT ME IM A MONSTER 8) I can do 45 combos and win you in your face!!!” pro-gaming is close for me!!11

3 rounds later, lobby dissapears and people close the game. People who can play better with the time and get more and more disappears.

I think that in 3 months we will only see 5 lobbys with the same people and the game will be death again.

Do you think that this is a correct attitude?

Come people, don’t kill the community.

Oh! And this is not a /cry thread from a scrub or something.

This IS a /cry thread. Really.

You’re bitching about people playing well? Because we learned this game when it came out and went through the necessary learning curves we should lower our standards? The fact that there are lobbies where someone who knows the game causes everyone to leave is a fault of the broken nature of the game, not the player’s.

I don’t want to see people quit this game too soon, but I think you people just now taking this game up should take time to learn the freakin game and adapt like we all did when it first came out and Magnetos/Sentinels began dominating the scene.

I spent my share of time on these forums and watching videos years ago trying to get better, I expect you all to do the same if you want to improve.

They want to play for fun without going through that ridiculous learning curve, which is understandable to me, but is a scrubby attitude in most competitive players’ eyes. I only use my top teams when there’s somebody with a winning streak, then I’ll go back to using Jill/Juggernaut/Iceman or Roll/Servebot/Zangief or Dan. When I get bored playing like that two or three matches later, then I’ll switch back to a team that I would use seriously.

Is that still too much for you?

I do exactly what Impact does.

I think it is going to defer players when they get beat terribly, but it’s a hard situation to fix.

The last two people I made ragequit stopped playing marvel(for the moment). One went offline and one went to Halo 3.

I think the best way to keep people playing is to help them out. It’s not easy when most people don’t use the mic, but I have calmed some rage by informing people.

No, I dont care for me I care for the community that is killing himself by owning scrubs online in 30 seconds with god teams WITHOUT that necessity. I can play with god team and win, I can play with a normal team with normal people and win, but with more fun for both.

And no, is not the faulty of the game, it is a fault of the player. You know that can win owning, but what do you get with this? An empty room in 5 minutes and less people to play in weeks?

Most of the people normally leaves when they see something really hard where the old school dominates a lot and doesnt care a bit for the other.

For example you can see casual games vs hardcore. Why Q3 community is a little shit with the same people always and more and more in CS or COD? Because new people lose but is not humiliated all the time with a 90 0 like quake against a good player.

I said that this is not a cry thread, because I am not a high level gamer but I am not a scrub either and I LOVE the challenges and try to beat better people than me with the time in any aspect of the life, I am very competitive but I understand that I need to lower the level against some people for the good of the community, call MVC2 community or taekwondo level on a gym against rookies. They need to learn and they don’t learn anything being owned without know wtf was happened.

No, I think that is not bad attitude and I think that you don’t need to use shit tiers too.

I am talking of the people who ONLY use god teams against anyone. The people that see a 6 0 in her scores and 30 seconds matches with some perfects and still use the god teams. Obviously 3 minutes later the lobby is offline.

The game is broken we know but I think as well as scrubs needs learn to play the old school must learn to take care of the rookies and their own community in the games with high skill learning curve.

you’ll get used to that.

I want to be thrown in vs the best so I can get better. In the process of getting good, you gotta take some lumps.

Where in the world have you see a rookie with a worse team competing against a oldschool with better team to “be good” and learn something useful.

To get higher skill requires to play with people little worse than you and a little better than you in same conditions and knowing the rules.

Do you really think that if you want to learn karate you can get a kimono and fight against a guy with protections and 10 years of training without leaving the ring on the second round when you get another hit on your cracked noose? OH!! I learned that 50 hit combos or infinits (punch on the face / kicks on the balls) are nice to win! I learn all that I need to win and play better on this game, even if I cant do a 2 single hits because the other guy is using a god tier against my baby boonie on my first week of game.

Congrats, you won the general medal =&&&= by winning this matches and see the people leaving the game.

I repeat again, I don’t care about myself, my level or people owning me, I care about the future of the communities of the games that I like, and I really think that this attitudes are not good for anyone.

The only thing that’s broken is your shitty spelling, quit crying scrub.

EDIT: some more points:

Karatekas wear a Gi, not a Kimono. They’re similar uniforms but not the exact same

It’s not the vets fault that they’ve been playing this game for years and have gotten to the levels where wins can occur in a fraction of a second. Put in the time, Nub.

If it’s really so easy to play god teams, that means you know all the glitches, can rom with PERFECT execution everytime, and also do every other infinite successfully right?

In my opinion, if a player can’t learn while playing against good players, then he or she needs to spend some time in training mode. If you don’t know why you’re getting raped, then you’re lacking the fundamentals needed to understand advanced play. And by you, I just meant anybody in general.

Edit: @BEWD: I can’t figure out what character your avatar is from (if it’s even from something).

^Yuujirou Hanma from Grappler Baki ^^

Thanks for talk about my shitty spelling, that gives you all the reason in the discussion.

Who cares if its easy? Its people playing well god tiers against scrubs and getting the rooms and the game empty in weeks, if you dont understand that, it is not my problem, but hey, you can try to troll again

NUB NUB YOU DON’T KNOW ENGLISH VERY WELL NUUUUUB NUUUUB UNGA UNGA I HAVE THE REASON BECAUSE WTF AND MAGNETO.

Please, grow up.

Im with you, but that is a solution but not the problem of what I am talking about.

Actually, I’m not trolling, but expecting people who’ve played a game seriously for several years to suddenly adjust their play because you say so is idiotic, and naive.

So no, you grow up, thanks.

EDIT: so what happens if I go crushing scrubs with midtier teams, am I supposed to jump down another tier because you come whining you got owned and threaten to leave the game? See how that works? People are gonna play the same way they’ve become accustomed to over the years, and if you have a problem with that, get better, or stfu.

It was fun chatting with you two, but I think I’m going to back out before I become a casualty in what seems to be brewing into a flame war. Thanks BEWD for a heads-up on that manga, and mquake since your OP isn’t directed at me, then I guess I really have no reason to be in here anymore haha.

And another time

I haven’t got any problem with that (me personally), I have the problem when I see people leaving the game because other doesn’t leave the lobby, lower level using other chars, and still owning people without sense. What do you get when you own 5 in a row in 5 minutes and the people leave you alone?

Instead of helping people to play, this attitude only generates frustration on newcomers and they will leave the game soon.

last post:

Newcomers have been getting crushed for years and yet MVC2 has still managed to survive. So kinda a moot point, but I do see your concern.

MvC2 seems like a game for dedicated people. Someone who quits easy is probably no going to end up liking this game anyways.

And I say this as a new comer myself.

You think b/c some of us have been playing for years… and are better with our worst characters than these scrubs are with god tiers we are gonna take it easy on em? Its not a matter of char selection… its a matter of understanding the game…

When they throw out random supers, jump at me over and over, send their assists into death… randomly tag people in to die… have no idea how to roll, pushblock, tech, guardbreak, throw or alpha counter… it does not matter who has what characters… I can go into zombie/barely trying mode… wait for them to do something stupid XX own…

I don’t even have a 360… I got ps3… but i went to my friends place and went 12-0 in ranked matches with a god awful 360 controller.

I got 2 rage quitters and someone put the controller down and let me kill their last char… guess what… yer scrubby, boring, and predictable tactics coupled with poor sportsmanship make the game less fun for us vets… you ever think about that? That I gotta suffer through 5 ken/wolvie/spiderman teams just to get 1 1/2 way decent opponent who still can barely keep up?

Moral of the story is get better… or learn to have fun losing and just do player matches… the upper levels of leaderboard ranking on either console are gonna be pretty far out of reach to anyone who doesn’t already have years of experiance. That just how it is… now get yer ass in training mode… and prove me wrong so you can stop bitching.

Your post is all a bit antagonizing in that you are chastising good players for playing well. Since some of you are new to the game… when someone owns you online… rather than coming to SRK forums and posting about how it sucks getting owned by better players… why not come here… read the literally mountains of knowledge those good players have posted… and learn the skills to compete on an even level. Far more satisfying than getting a win b/c a good player was nice enough to pick a poor team.

If people have problems with players that are better than them in a 9 year old game, then they should just stop playing it or stop whining and improve their game.

If people quit because there’s someone who has been playing the game for a long time is just better than them and decided he’s not going easy on the scrub, it’s for the better cause then there will be less crybabies in the community.

As a newcomer I came into the game knowing that I am 10 years late to this party. No way in hell, that in one moonth Im going to learn everything that has been accumenlated in 10 years . MvC2 is a hot thing now, and it has never (IMO) died. There are going to be quitters, hell there are people who quit the game of life but veterns arent going to just go easy because they are new. it wouldnt be fair, what would they learn from it?

Training mode, newcomers need to use it. I play a good 2hrs online and another 1 or 2 in the training room.
