f.MK~MP+MK iirc
Just like kara throw but with focus. Feels like you’re plinking MK with MP while you hold forward (or press forward, I however feel that holding foward as I do it is more reliable). Or you can use f.HK to kara from, but gives you a bit less range.
It will look something like this in training mode:

I’m sooo close to abandoning Ken forever. I just got pawned online by a Ryu in endless battle 8 times in a row. Yet the other day I played the same player and I just edged them out with Ken.
I feel like my hands are blocks of cement and my brain isn’t operating at the speed to necessary to do combos and sh!t.
I’ve read and read so much info on these boards but still I’m crap…
that might be your problem too much reading and not enough practicing. you can do all the reading in the world but it wont get into your muscle memory that way
Muscle memory… I know it’s got to be done, but seriously. How often did you practice in training to nail down a particular combo?
I still practice them today even though I have some of them down 100%
It all depends on the person though. Some people might get it in a few hours, others it may take weeks. Just practice.
im in the training room practicing old combos, new combos, setups, and option selects about 30% of the time.
the other 70% of the time im applying that knowledge in real matches.
Im trying the option select jp.HP HP SRK in training but not sure if im doing it correct though. Can someone help me out in ways to use option select in the training room? thanks
Set the CPU to record, and record him doing a backdash or a reversal.
Then set it to block.
You’ll notice the difference.
thnx
can someone tell me how to safe jump with ken?
random fact. if u combo into far s.mp on abel u can link u2 after it wether hes crounching or not i knw this wurks on other characters but it seams to wurk on abel ezer. is any1 using this ultra in this fight?
u have to go to the training room to lern the timing. after a throw u walk back then jump set the dummy to do this then u go to p1side then try to dp ken if ken blocks then u did it right if ken gets hit adjust ur timing. after a fierce srk ken gets a free jump on most characters so u can just hold up foward after the srk combo and when u jump the jumping lk will stuff dps.
i dnt knw if ken can safe jump after a sweep like ryu i tend to do other stuff oafter sweeps.
ken can’t get a safe jump after sweep? I usually do any empty jump and start a combo with lk or go for a kara throw mixup or oh…but u can’t get a straighgt safe jumpin hp after sweep?
I duno I dnt jump after sweeps
I love this setup, though some of the reward has been taken away in Super vs Ryu (im assuming in this situation your talking about the jumping.short kick cross-up)
In vanilla, vs ryu’s wakeup DP the crossup light kick would stuff his DP and you would then be able to land a combo. Which is a good reward for using a safe option on the opponent’s wakeup while the opponent uses a risky option on their wake up.
Well in Super, in this same situation, the jumping short kick now resets ryu’s DP instead of stuffing him (i believe this change is because they took away the properties of ryu’s trade DP ultra1 by causing ryu to reset instead of staying grounded)
This is only vs Ryu but sadly now this setup creates a reset off of the opponent’s(ryu) risky wake up attempt, creating yet another guessing situation. However in this new situation after the reset ken no longer has the advantage in guessing the right option, it is equal now (while the j.short after a f.dp combo left ken?s with better options then ryu). kinda sucks D:
Anyway ideas/tactics with putting this new reset situation in kens favor again?
Hhmm I’ve ben reseted a cuple time bt forr the most part I stuff it.
hey ken army
what are some of ken’s frame traps?
sometimes whit this kind of reset you can do a kara throw [according with opponent’s bars of course]
from what I can tell ken doesn’t have any easy combos that end in sweep (hitting the 2nd active frame of far st.jab > sweep… i think?), because of this there isn’t any easy/concrete setup for the safe j.fierce after sweep.
Ryu can combo sweep off of alot and akuma has a few setups as well because of this the safe jump situations are easy to setup (off of combos)
hmmm the thing is the kara throw really isnt in kens favor, the mixup off of the reset is still even. Both ken and ryu can choose a few options
that’s why after the knockdown ken had the advantage by choosing j.short crossup because it beat reversal DP or you would get the block string /once this was established you could instead j.fierce and hit in front because the opponent was less likely to reversal when you have a safe crossup.
though lilsicx66 says he still stuffs ryu’s dp so I may be wrong
