Can anyone show me a video on how to do ken’s kara throw?
Ok, I got the basic idea on how to do ken’s kara throw, but how can I tell f I did it correctly?

Should of looked through the whole thread in the post above you. The youtube link was there. Just watch the video, you can pretty much tell without a doubt if you’ve hit it right. He glides/glitches toward the opponent to grab.
On the kara throw video link posted above (Li’s Legs vs. Ken’s Karas), near the end it appears the person using Ken cancels out of an HP shoryuken with what appears to be just a dash forward into a continued attack. Is this possible? I thought to get out of a shoryuken you had to FADC. Some clarification would be greatly appreciated.
What makes you think it wasn’t an FADC? And did you even bother checking to see if he used up 2 bars of super meter when he did it, thus eliminating any doubt as to whether it was an FADC or not?

@wolfeagle: I think you’re looking at the wrong super bars, I think you’re looking at Chun Li’s super bar because it is under Ken. When in reality Ken’s bars are on the right, not the left.
ZeroMH, I thought I had eliminated doubt until I looked shortly after my post and realized I had done what Bambo intuited I had done. When the Ken player preformed the move he was on the first player side and I instinctively looked right underneath him at Chun Li’s combo bar Um… my bad
Thanks to Slinger and everyone else. I picked up Ken this week, and can pretty much pull all his stuff off, and im having way more fun than with Blanka, and I learned the game pretty well thanks to Ken also. I guess knowing 3s Ken and kara throwing helped alot.
Random thoughts:
My safest string is xup cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mk, fb
To punish on confirm I like cr.lk, cr.lp, cr.lp, cr.mk, fierce shoryu
A ultra lander I use is xup st.mp, st.fp, fierce shoryu, fadc stage 2 crumple, dash, ultra
I usually do this, but instead of ultra I dash and throw once or twice, so when I have full ultra, I do again and hope they wiff the throw. Either way, you should be safe.
After a hit ex tatsu on ground do an option select throw, the safest thing to do. Unless you can read the opponent and bait him out for another string.
And lastly, the kara throw is so damn easy to do, abuse it and if the opponent knows its coming, he is going to do something crazy to get out of it (today a Sagat and Ryu would do random DP’s when I was in range) start baiting out the DP. Something I learned with Blanka is keep pressure on, then ‘Turtle up close’ because his cr.hk can outdistance anything, same applies to Kens kara throw.
Respect for getting a feirce shoryuken -> FADC -> ultra. I’ve been trying to get this to work and practicing for so long and it’s so hard to do on command in game. Plus sometimes I just end up doing a fierce shoryuken -> FADC -> fierce shoryuken lol.
Remember to do full motions everytime. Even if you do it a little slow, just take it down a level in speed and get the ultra to come out. Speed will come eventually. and it will all become muscle memory. Just remember its only a matter of time until you master it.
thats my problem, I cant get it to come out in a match. And I cant get it to come consistently on the 1player side. Sometimes I am so anxious that I FADC before the 2nd hit connects. I think I may just do training only for a few days, but online battling is addicting.
I finally pulled a j.HK > cr.Mk > cancelled into shoryureppa > Ultra… in the corner of course. Before, I could never get the timing of the Ultra online…

Just practice more and you can get it. But IMO I dont really use it because its not worth it. Its not as damaging as other fadc xx ultras. The biggest tip id say is get used to waiting after the 2nd hit of the fp shoryu, that was my problem.

1st combo is bad, because you can block that high. start with c.lk.
2nd, punish on confirm? you mean punishing someone else for a whiffed move? use s.rh xx ex tatsu.
3rd, the combo looks sick, but dosen’t it scale too much? wouldn’t a simpler combo be easier and provide as much/if not more dmg?
The third combo isn’t even a combo, is it? If you have time to charge to FADC level 2, they have time to block, don’t they?
right. It doesnt combo. If you trade the :hp: shoryu with an EX fireball then it will. Maybe a regular fireball too, but like xsonicc said, the scaling would murder the combo.
you wouldn’t use your ultra? why not? its “free” meter.
I meant dont focus on that combo, its not worth it, and dosent really require practice imo. If you can catch someone with this on jump in, its fine.
Today, I’ve realize how much work I have to do to be a good Ken player, and it was a little depressing tbh. All my matches were close, but I was just getting the short end of the stick more times than I wanted.
The lost to Gief really pissed me off. I owned him for a good 2 minutes, then he got in with an ultra and I was on defense again. Like seriously, why is his is HP so high?
Then I look at the top Ken players and I see what I’m not doing, can’ t block string and setup combos. Many times I try, but players who are spamming a move get it out once you mess up.
Today, I am a sad Ken player…Tomorrow, I’ll be back for more!!! I do hope I haven’t reached my limit this early though. For the life I me, I can’t see to get the timing for blockstrings. In vids–the Ken players makes it seem extremely fluid and flawless, If i could blockstring like that–my mix-up game would be awesome too!!!
Just doesn’t come out like that for me though.
