Old Genei Jin for the Win!: Yun Moveset, Strategies, and Combos

Yeah that was prety slow of me to ask lol.

It’s like in 3S and like Rufus dives, you have to hit around the waist area if they are standing to have enough advantage to combo or continue a blockstring without getting reversaled. On crouching opponents I’m sure it will be easier to combo after divekicks. I haven’t touched this game yet, I won’t get a chance until next week.

never got it to trade with srk, im sure it does but i didnt get to do it. i tried doing meaty palm against the ken (srk happy) but he didnt srk on wake up.

@No_Cigar i mean on block. like i tried to either jab it would get thrown, i tried to launch, it would get thrown etc. i guess it makes sense that those would get thrown. i was only at the arcade for like 2 hours or somethin so i didnt get to test too many things.

Can you divekick from a back jump?

I really like the Lunge punch juggle after EX Dragon Kicks, do you have to get a counterhit for that or does it always work? I’m such a juggle whore, that’s why I’ll play Yun XD

^ it will always work as long as you get the ex up kicks to hit. i might be going back to FFA to play some yun.

What version of Lunge Punch can Yun do after EX Kicks? Probably light/medium eh?

Probably LP, i know that combos after EX in 3s.

I play GGPO every now and then. I used to play it alot. GGPO is same as my XBL name.

Meaty palms on oppenents’ wake up will be broken. :wink:

Cr.MP will probably be nerfed in the future.

I guess people will start doing dive kick into crouch tech with MP for pressure.

They are not part of GJ combo.
They are stand alone combos.

Also, I have only been able to connect a LP/MP lunge after EX upkicks if its an anti air.
Doesnt seem to work if EX kicks hits grounded.

Also, It seems that Yuns HP lunge is the safest of the 3 at a good distance.
EX Lunge seems to be +f on block.

MP/HP/EX Shoulder is great for going under fireballs.
Palm stops 1 hit of any fireball, but depending on the speed of the fireball, you may eat the rest.

My friend was using Dan, and did random U2 on my while I was starting up HP Palm.
I stopped 1 hit, and was able to block the rest.

Daigo was spamming st.mp xx lp shoulder as a block string, until I dragoned him in between. Then he stopped doing it.
Useful once or twice to catch people off in a frame trap, but def not a true block string.

I have seen people focus the shoulder during it…soooo… here comes mixups.
Bait the focus with st.mp xx Palm. That should stop them from focusing.
THEN you can mixup with st.mp xx LP palm (the feint), then HK/EX Command throw.

Command throw allows you to combo cr.mp, st.mp xx watever.

I saw it against a grounded opponent.

It seems that after an untechable knockdown in the corner you can cross them up with lunge punch for mix up like Boxer does.

Edit: Can anyone find out what the properties of EX command throw are? Does it come out faster, etc.?

Valuable info here. I’ll remember that I can only lunge punch off an AA EX Up kicks and not a grounded hit (That we know of so far).

mp/hp/ex shoulder going under fireballs is so great. No wonder daigo and others say AE is the end of fireball users. That plus dive kicks,etc. lol

st.mp xx lp shoulder… sounds like it could be intresting, however since it isn’t a true blockstring I probably won’t be doing it. But I do agree that it can provide a valuable mixup game if you bait and change it up after doing it a couple times. Not to bad frame trap. I consider it like Gouken’s c.mp xx light hadouken. It doesn’t connect but not alot of people remember that.

^ i have done 1-2-3 ex rising kick to lp dash punch many times. the timing = weird.

whiffing a command throw sucks a LOT. so much recovery! so ex could be useful for the range / if it does come out faster.

From my translation its like:

Double tapping will probably help alot, just do the qcf motion around the general timing and mash the HP. It’s good if you don’t know the timing 100%, I do it when I do Rufus HP tornado > LP tornado in the corner.

Maybe he means Focus Crumple > EX Palm > MP shoulder > HP lunge? idk

Also I read somewhere that Daigo finishes his GJ combos with a mixup, probably just a jab to juggle and reset them, then a dash under or something idk. I’d really like to see a vid of Daigo.

Not sure if it has been confirmed but Yun’s Palm beats shoryukens.

Wouldn’t palm and and DP trade? If you timed a palm to have active frames whenever the DP finishes its invincibility frames (which should be second nature with a little practice), they would trade right? I imagine it would look something like Yun pops up and the DP character flies toward corner.

And Yang and Yun’s palms should be the same right? I don’t think they would have too much variation.
