See strats above for chun li help. You can actually do a good job keeping chun out, her jump arc gives you plenty of time to anti-air with mp srk. Focus her longer pokes like St.fierce and st.roundhouse to get in. SAFE JUMP ONLY. Don’t get cute with cross ups/jump ins unless she has zero meter and it’s an untechable knockdown prior. Play smart and be patient, if you get hit by one of her pokes just block after the first hit and wait it out. She’s a pixie so if you get in, maximize damage to the fullest and wreck.
Gen: Abuse his lack of or weak wake up options, react to his jumps with jump back fierce or roundhouse. General rule of thumb for Gen match-up, if they’re jumping it’s probably a cross up.
Elf: Depending on the type of Elf I play it’s either lame them out or RTSD. I haven’t tried but OS Jump in Fierce > Srk should be run away flipthrow thingy. =P OS tatsu on jump ins when you think he’s gonna do his “srk” anti air. guacamole I think it’s called. Or just bait it out and get a cr.mk > tatsu. Focus absorb splashes for free combo, don’t spam it otherwise he’ll start gettin’ the grab off of run.
Gen can’t really do much at step kick range. Or at c.mk range either. His s.MK hands is nothing to be afraid of now, his sweep is slow, and his c.MK loses to yours. All I can imagine a Gen doing at this range is jumping, getting out poked, or doing wall kicks. None of these options are particularly scary.
Try to be diligent in your AA’ing. It’s key in this match up. Fighting Gen can be a little like controlled chaos. When shit gets crazy, hold some down back, compose yourself, and figure out what he’s REALLY doing. Remain mindful though, that his big damage pretty much comes from his super to ultra combos, so keep an eye on his meter an try to beware of any super set ups. Other than that, SSF4 Gen should be easy mode. If this doesn’t help just hit me up and I’ll see if we can theory fight this out a lil’ more.
As for Fuerte: Fuck Fuerte. I have no idea what to do against him. Don’t let yourself get knocked down and rush his shit down?
iight thank man. I fought an annoying guile. I’m not sure if this is how you fight him even Thoe he made mistakes

I really need some advice. I got schooled by a very skilled Fuerte player today (13 - 1 in his favour). I managed to avoid some of his wake-up game and, to be honest, I wasn’t annoyed at that.
No, what really annoyed me is that I have no idea how to apply pressure on HIS wake-up. It seemed that whatever I did, he had a “get out of jail free” card.
What can Ken do on Fuerte’s wake up to maintain pressure? I was at a real loss. Because he can ex-run out of most things, I can’t really see how to use OS techniques to punish multiple outcomes, so it has to be something else.
Grabs beet his ex runs armor breakers do also.os dp beets his lil air dingiling grab.but when elf gets u2 u can’t. Even safe jump him any more but since I dnt fight any consitant elfs I jus do whatever I wana do and guess on wakeup cus let’s face it elf is random and he is unzonable that foo can fly slide and hop all over the damn screen.so if anyone has any tips or vids on high level ken vs elf plz post.I don’t wana get randomed out
like sicx said throw beasts ex run , also c.mk goes under the (tortilla?) move that he jumps on your head and spins around .
found this out just the other day , so you can empty jump throw , or cross up , and he absorbs the attack with ex.run and goes into the head spin move , you c.mk on reaction it will wiff right in front of you . punish him with ultra or as big combo as possible as that move has huge recovery if it misses .
i play with an excellent fuerte on a regular basis.
never play footsies with him or he will jump on your head and grab you.
if he is backing up to the corner, he is baiting you. he will jump off the wall and cross you up with his splash attack. so know this distance (almost near half screen distance) and remember to stay out of this range.
on his wakeup, just throw him a lot, and empty jump throw, or empty jump cr.lk combo him. but like sicx said, once he has ultra 2 do not do anything on his wakeup, just try to bait it.
be careful with your block/hit strings once he has ultra 2, he can mash through your strings with ultra 2.
use step kick a lot. i almost never walk forward against fuerte. if i want to close the distance i just use step kick because it avoids a lot of his options.
on wakeup, i’ll be honest, most of the time, i either dash forward to avoid his grab/splash or i will just block the crossup. i determine what to do based on his spacing just before i wakeup.
hope this helps. im still not comfortable fighting fuerte
i have more problems safley getting up when i get knocked down then pressuring him on his wake up, i just cant tell what hes about to do. if hes across the screen i step kick alot, focus not alot but enough to make him nervous to do a slide or a body slam and throw fireballs depending on where he is on screen. on his wake up i throw alot and try to os his air throw on wake up. but when he knocks me down there goes my lifebar. and does any1 know the hit stun on the first hit of kens mp dp?
Can far standing roundhouse be an anti air? The kick where Ken does the kick where he spins his whole body? Also that is a strong kick. Is it also good for poking?
I hope people are using st.mp because this move has gotten me free sweeps MULTIPLE times. I use it as a decent poke but mainly for CH setups into sweep. It also if timed correctly can beat boxer’s dash punches if timed correctly, landing you free sweep.
I’ve never tried nor seen far st. roundhouse used as an anti-air. It’s an ok poke, it’s just slow as hell. Here’s an accidental gimmick I occasionally do: I focus crumple opponent and I mis-space close st.rh and get far st.rh, I’ll cr. jab(which they usually block) and kara throw immediately. Work’s like 85% of the time because it’s not a normal throw setup at all lol.
any tips against cr. mk abusing Ryu players? My brother mains ryu and cr mk (along with full screen hadokens of course) is his main tool for keeping me out. It fucking pisses me off cause if I focus it and try to kara throw, he hits the cr mk > hadoken combo, cancels the hadoken and proceeds to beat the living shit out of me. Hard to cross him up since he always auto correct shoryus me from the other side. It’s funny cause if I pick Ryu I can kick his ass. Use Ken, whos my main at the moment and I can never beat im. Ryu is pretty much the only character i’m having trouble with right now btw.
In addition to that, you can empty jump, jab srk his medium kick if he’s predictable about it. Safe/empty jump when you’re in SRK range and punish a blocked uppercut with a combo or ultra or whatever. (Probably need to work on your jump-in as well if it’s the case that you’re being SRK out of them.) Doing a cross-up tatsu earlier and higher then normal will hit them out of their DP if they try the same timing all the time. Obviously it’s not going to work all the time, but then neither should your brother’s stategy work against you like it’s doing now, so you got mix things up.
i reach out once again to the ken army
any tips against DeeJay? he seems to be one of the few characters that you cannot cross up tatsu on his wakeup. his flashkick acts a lot like blankas upball on wakeup.
thanks in advance.
It’s hard to safe jump deejay, ex upkicks is 4f if i remember correctly. I wouldn’t cross up deejay when he has ex meter, treat him like honda\blanka in those wake up situations and just force him to block.
