just f.mk and c.mk and anti air him the entire time. escape corner traps and such with air tatsu. air tatsu works good against him but dont do it 2 much. with the right spacing and timing you can cross him up with a jump in lk on his wake up and not get hit by a lariat. its pretty easy 2 do once u get it the first few times. its just a long slow boring match vs gief but as long as u stay calm and stick to the game plan i dont think theres much he can do if your footsies are good. careful for that sweep of his though!
Can anyone help with the dudley and chun matches, I keep losing to them. To me dudley is a heavy hitter
dudley
always be prepared to crouch tech his command dash after he lands a block string . they usually go for a throw .
the only , and seriously only poke u use to keep him away is c.mk . i’ve played high level dudleys and crouching mk really annoyes them stops almost all of his normals .
once u annoy him on the ground always anti air with a mp srk cos his jumpin roundhouse is really good and can stuff ur other shouryukens.
always poke with c.mp buffered with a hadouken if ur distante from him and u predict an ex machine gum blow.
his srk is shit and can be safe jumped and he has a counter . so safe empty jump into a c.mk from ur should fuck with his brain .
if u are down . his mix ups begin as he can combo from low and form an over head. ur best bet is a back dash on wake up .
all his common moves do not have an armor break . so focus often and follow it with a back dash to avoid machinegun blow and punish accordingly .
if u block a machingun blow . reversal it with a hp srk .
hope i was helpful .
@youboycurt
depends what special moves we are talking about .
well timed meaty c.mp is a very good wake up option . since c.mp has lots of active frames .
i usually trade hits with ryu’s dp on wake up when i use it . its a nice game ender .
but we are talking about balrog here .
if u throw a meaty c.mk after changing direction and making him loose his charge i.e he cant ultra nor ex rush punsh u on wake up … his only option is a head butt . and head butts wiff of c.mk .
and there was a tip from dr.chaos about the balrog match up which had really really helped me .
if ur distante from a balrog and he jumps in out of ur anti air reach . throw out the rh over head . cause almost all balrogs charge down backwords after landing .
peace
thanks man. i have a hard time against him. are all his dash punches safe on block?
Just learned some stuff for Guy in a ranked match just now. Jab SRK beats his EX demonflip grab thing for free and can juggle Fierce SRK afterwards.
Hi guys, I need help with some Elf problems. What could I possibly do on my wake up? I know Elf beats out Ken’s SRK for some reason. Appreciate the help!
@mayho .
its an option . but what i usually do . is once i see his flip i throw out a c.hp anitiair buffered into a low tatsu . ull either land infornt or behind him while he is reseting … i find it better cos it allows u to land a big combo and anti air him at the same time.
Ken combos to know:
bnb: c.short, s.jab, c.fp xx rh/ex.tatsu/srk
punisher: s.roundhouse xx rh/ex.tatsu/srk
kara throw: f.forward xx throw 1-3frames
how was u able to put that info down there?
if i remember correctly, or its character specific, cl.hp xx ex tatsu does more damage then cl.hk xx ex tatsu, because the knee misses after the cl.hk.
its in my signature lol.

So i played a really good gief last night, can someone tell me what I should do if i get stuck in his vortex.
What are some things you guys do vs Rufus when he has Ultra 2?
I have most of the concept vs him down, but once he gets U2, I feel helpless cuz you can’t really attack him.
If Rufus does ultra 2 and you’re in range with a shinryuken, unleash it on the first available frame after ultra freeze. It’ll beat it if the 1st punch can touch him.
try EX shoryu im not certain that will work.
I thought i did a ultra vs ultra video of this and i swear to god i know i’ve done it before, but unfortunately i don’t have a video of that.
Also, you can cr hp the dive kicks if they are really well telegraphed. cr mp works wondefully, but thats only if the dive kick is aimed at your body, it wont work if the kick is coming for the top of your head. If you’re really gutsy, shinryuken it.
Ay iam havin trouble vs vega/claw is there anything to stop his air grab loop in the corner? And how do I escape his super I tried dashin out but I still got grabbed.
Does Ken have the same safe jump set-ups as Ryu??
Thanks in advanced!
I tried all versions of the srk right after Rufu’s freeze frame for U2 and none of it worked. The only time I got an SRK to hit Rufus out of U2 before I woke up and he was already coming towards me. I think he has invincible frames for the first few frames after the freeze frame, but when he starts doing the sucking part of the Ultra he has a hit box.
I tried Ultra1, if you activate it right after Rufus’s U2 freeze frame, you will beat him out. If you activate it while Rufus is moving across screen during his U2, you will lose to his Ultra.
Ken’s U2 loses out no matter what distance to Rufus’s U2.
IDK, I tried a bunch of different things (in training mode) but most of the time I got “sucked” into his Ultra. only time was when his U2 was active and was going across screen before I got up, when I got up and did an EX srk, I beat it out. This scenario my U1 also worked.
However, All those examples are reliant on the Rufus to mistime his U2. Against players that actually know what they are doing that’s not a good bet. Just feels like when they have U2 ready, there are no chances to be on the offensive.
Anybody else has any suggestions / comments / strats for the Fat One?
I’m pretty sure it’s just like the Akuma match, don’t let him get the life lead…
Match is not is Ken’s favor logically right? Ken excels in close quarter, Rufus is better in close quarters. So, best advice is to find the sweet spot (where most of Rufus’s normals whiff) and poke him till you can catch his dive kick with a MP DP. Once he calms down, get a KD and mix-up. SOmetimes baiting the EX messiah kick of course and going from there. Once you get a lead, hang back and semi-zone him or stay on the offensive and don’t let him build meter.
Worse thing to do is getting stuck in the corner.
Ask Joon or Six for the proper spacing when fighting Rufus.
And chuck FB out very seldomly of course as he has that stupid spin move to absorb them.
I think that’s Rufus’s biggest weakness however, he doesn’t have too many options on wakeup besides a messiah, so I just play him like Viper–get in, and eat these kara and pokes. You won’t win al the time–but if you are better than him, you should pull off victory more than loses.
U2 is just a really good Ultra…just try to stay away from chip damage as best as you can, not much you can about it if you are on the offense though
