I believe you can plink HP~MP for the c.fierce.
How many frames do you have to link st. lp to u2?
it`s a one frame link… unless you get a counter-hit, in which case it becomes 3 frames…
I suggest you connect it after a cl.st. mk… if you refuse to use bars…
Thanks, does cl. st. mk make them stand up or not?
It does indeed. It’s also a 1-frame link. I think it’s harder to time than st. jab > U2, but that might just be me.
I like ST. MK x U2 better than ST. LP x U2 but eh i’m a weird ken user. and my new tactic for vega and the wall dive/sky high claw is to jump the way he started from. example, if he’s on 1p side and shoots behind you, jump toward the one player side immediately. if you have U2 you can usually get a free one right after he recovers…mhm
My questions:
-
How do I approach the blanka match-up? Since I can’t cross him up, it feels like my wake up game is really limited. That and I am goddamn slow at punishing blanka balls on reaction.
-
For the 1st round of a match, is there any specific habit/playstyle/tendency/etc you guys look for in the opponent so you can make the proper adjustment for the 2nd and 3rd round?
Hey, I’m having a bit of an issue with the Balrog match-up. Any advice on how to play him. When I try to cross-up he blocks my combos, and when I try to kara-throw, he techs them.
Maybe your kara throws are too predictable?
What I usually do is whenever I see that my throws are getting teched a lot:
- I’ll try a frame trap to hit the OS tech, to make him think twice before OS teching.
- Make him whiff a move. Play footsies with him, stand outside his crouching RH range, bait that shit, as soon as he whiffs it, you get a free kara throw.
For the cross-up’s, maybe you can try the ambiguous jump fierce crossup. But if he keeps blocking it, then just do your standard block string and try to sneak in a kara throw.
@ ^ after a block string when you walk back to wait for a whiff normal, usually the balrogs in my area OS tech- Cr.RH, so after walking back… ur in HIS cr.RH range… and u get whooped to the floor while waiting for his LK or LP whiff… really, balrog is so hard to fight…
My bad I totally forgot. I’ll edit my post.
Guy, Adon, El fuete
I love reading these match up post. It really does help me.
As of now I’m extremely uncomfortable with playing against Guy (his air grab is bananas and his normal), Adon (his over the top moves don’t seem to be punished reliably ) and el fuete ( his constant air grabs and cross UPS screw me)
Any help is helpful ty.
Also, how do you over come juri’s bs teleport crap?
I guess I haven’t played any good Adon players, but he seems free to Ken imo. His wall kicks from full screen are SRKable on block or reaction, you can safejump his wake up DP, and stand block his other Jaguar moves. I stand a bit closer than step kick range for him, just a bit outside his standing roundhouse and punish em with fireballs.
Guy isn’t too bad, I just lame him out. I use a lot of c.forward xx fireball on this match. I never jump on him unless safejump after knockdown.
His mixups are pretty beast, but he falls apart to your rushdown. Sorry I don’t have much info on this match up as I’m still learning as well.
I just kara throw Juri’s tele/counter move.
Adon - you can late OS tech his wall dives
El Fuerte - His mixup game is usually centered around the body slam, flying leg throw, and the slide kick. You can dash towards him on wakeup to avoid the body slam and leg throw, and you can focus the slide kick if you see it coming. Just don’t do it too much or he will change his mix-up to kill your dash. His wall jumps can be SRKed on reaction, but be careful because he can do a short jump.
Guy - I honestly have no idea. I still don’t know how to avoid his air grab.
uhmm… for guy you just have to crouch…
How can I beat a Sagat tiger shot and tiger upper cut spammer? I can’t even get close enough long enough to do damage.
Kara Fireball, and Kara Focus and blocking to gain ground. Once in just go through your regular gameplan against him. Watch for throws, you don’t wanna be forced to battle your way in again.
Needs Rose help Lol… i dont even kno where to start im clueless with this matchup
rose… i advise just taking it very slow. on wake up if she’s dashing back that’s free walk up throw. her armor break soul thing… can’t remember what it’s called can be punished if it’s not spaced properly. don’t jump recklessly while she has U2 cause that can do some serious damage. respect her meter and her slide, very sleep will post more in the morning.
