Ogre Combo Thread

What do you guys expect from Ogre changes?
Think he’ll get nerfed? Buffed? I actually think he’s quite alright how he is atm.

Yeah I’m hoping they don’t change him too much but I’ll adapt to whatever they do to him. I already know since they’re nerfing boost chains on block across the board I probably won’t be able to get away with boost chains at midrange footsies anymore i.e. c.MP>s.HK, c.MK>s.HK, c.LK>c.MK>s.HK. but I honestly wasn’t using that often anyways. Those chains will still be good for whiff punishing though… My fear is that they’ll nerf some of his frame traps but it probably won’t happen his frame data isn’t as crazy as Ryu or Cody or Kazuya so IDK…

Hey Ogre players, I just have a few questions regarding some easy combo’s:

What is his best combo off a raw tag/launcher combo? Without meter preferably or at max using 1 bar. Currently I’m either doing cr.lp, cr.mk xx HP Waning Moon OR uf,lk xx uf.mk (2 hits of hunting hawk), s.hk xx blaze kick. I’m not sure if those are getting my max damage.

Also, is LP Indigo Punch the only way to finish off j.hk/j.hp, Snake Bite, uf,lk xx uf,mk (2 hits of hunting hawk), st.hk…lp indigo punch? I’ve tried almost every other move and none connect (I havn’t tried LP Indigo punch but in another thread it said that’s the only way to finish it). You can replace Snake Bite with st.hp, LP Owl’s Hunt but either way I still can’t connect.

How much can you follow up after a LP Owl Hunt Cross Cancel? If used in a combo. My partner is Vega and I usually just do cr.mk, cr.mp >> cr.hk for untechable knockdown. I’m not asking for a combo with Vega but hypothetically with tag in heavy characters (like Bryan, Lili or Law) can I do alot more damage wise?

What’s the best follow up after a cr.hk midscreen?

Are EX Blaze Kick’s worth using? I usually do the token trial combo afterwards but generally it dosen’t seem the best.

Thanks!

Maximum damage off a raw launcher is cl.HK xx CADC, cl.HK xx WM but I usually go for uf+LK>MK, cl.HP xx WM. Slightly less damage but a lot easier to pull off. Too lazy to practice my CADC’s lol.

Max damage for Snake Blade combo ends with L IP, only other option is cr.HK which you can switch cancel off of.

OH launches opp pretty high so you should be able to do your standard juggles with most partners after a switch cancel.

Best followup after c.HK is probably CADC, cl.HK xx WM. IDK I never use c.HK lol.

I think EX BK is useful in certain situations. It doesn’t have any invincibility but it comes out so damn fast that it beats out just about anything. Plus its safe on block and I think you can’t be thrown out of it so its probably better reversal than AP in a lot of situations. Also the hit box is active for so long if the opp neutral jumps to bait out AP they’ll still land on it lol. Only downside is it costs meter and sometimes trades.

As a total noob let me ask, what is CADC? It seems like it stands for Cross Attack Dash Cancel or something, but i’m not sure. What does it entail?

EDIT: Nvm, found out what it is. I don’t think i’ll be incorporating that any time soon hahahaha, but thank you!

Charge Attack Dash Cancel. Think of a kind of FADC from SSF4.
In Ogre’s case you perform e.g. StHK, cancel into his Quartercircle + Punch, hold punch briefly, cancel that into a forward dash and perform another HK.
It’s easier than it sounds. Break it into different parts and practice. First really slow, then faster.

Ahh I need to take a break from PS Allstars and hit SFxT training mode again!

thanks for this

Saw Uryo do a new combo with Ogre thanks to his St. HP buff:

Snake Blade, Far St HP, Cr. MK xx Owl’s Hunt

Need to experiment with this more once I get my Xbox.

I saw this combo on one of SSFEvo’s vids been using it ever since. Its great, does the same amount of damage as his old bnb (snakeblade, uf+lk>mk, cl.HP xx IP) but you have way more options afterward. Now you can switch cancel, safe tag, or teleport behind and prevent the roll. Its really awesome!

Need to revisit this thread when practicing. Good stuff all around.

Timing is pretty tight on that new combo though it also works, and I think does more off anything into dp+k than the other choices, not for sure though. Plinking both the st.hp (to get it out as soon as possible) and the cr.mk seems to make it a little easier.<div><br></div><div>Another good thing that may be semi new is cr.lk ~ st.mp ~ cr.mk xx qcb+p, this does decent damage and easily connects from near the tip of cr.lk, timing is a bit tight on the second link though its 1 -2 frames. so plink away.</div>

Takes a bit of getting used to but its actually not much more difficult than hitting Hunting Hawk after Snake Blade. Definitely not a 1 or 2 frame window so plinking shouldn’t be necessary. I’m able to hit it with almost 100% consistency and I’m no execution master.

I think hitting the first st.hp is the important part you need to hit that asap so they are high enough. You can do this off of lots of other stuff btw.<br><br>Like lp.,lp,cr.hk, st.hp, cr.mp<br><br>or any dp+p<br><br>Whats most damage after launcher? Ive been doing st.hp, cadc, st.hp qcb+mp. Anything better?<br><br>Cr.hk is the real juice in combos and can be hit checked to CADC out.<br>

Crossup, lplp, crouch hk, cadc, st hk cadc, st hp, owlhunt, tag cancel

The double cadc off of cr hk is the max dmg.

The uryo combo is godluke for setups and midscreen tag cancels.

2hithunting st hp, mp indigo is the max dmg tho off of lkmkmk midscreen/close to corner. In the corner you can tag cancel off of the indigo (and all the way in the corner do this combo: lkmkmk, st mp, stmp, st hp, mp indigo) if you have the timing for more dmg tho

damn double cadc is more? Thought I tested it and it was less good to know. <div>You shouldn’t need the lp,lp after a crossup since you’ll be cadc’ing anyway its not that important.</div><div><br></div><div><br></div><div>Off launch though double CADC is weird because the cr.hk randomly gets 1 hit depending on when you press it, which is why I like st.hp, cadc, st.hp.  Off and aerial tag (like a dp, can you still do, double cr.hk cadc?  I guess I’ll test later…</div><div><br></div><div>Uryo combo is good any time you hit something tha thits them far away… Like if you miss the Cadc after cr.hk or you guess someone trying to jump back with it.  Cr.hk for life though that move is amazing.</div>

The lplp is for the hitconfirm going straight into cr hk after a jumpin and cadcing could potentially get you killed against someone good (wolfkrone punishes ky cadc forward literally every time)

Well wait do you have a more dmging combo than the double cadc? Cus I wanna know it lol

No I checked numbers, if you do the st.hk it is the most damage!<br><br>Also I meant hitcheck and then CADC backwards instead of forwards if they block it. You have tons of time to confirm after a jumpin into cr.hk… Of course sped up throws you might get thrown… <br><br><br>
