I would like to specify that this doesn’t include quebec mostly likely, or else you have to take in consideration one of the highest suicide rates in the world. Unless the list counts “emo teens offing themselves” as a morale booster for the rest of the country…which techniclly it is.
Can’t blame them, really.
I’d kill myself if I was from Quebec.
It’s a miracle I’m still alive isn’t it?
im not down with essay writing on SRK but i will say this much

culturally we are as diverse as possible, canada is always seen as a mosaic whereas the states are a melting pot, we dont have as many hate groups or hate crime. in my city we have a 3 days festival called heritage days where every nation in the city is represented at a pavilion http://www.heritage-festival.com/fun-festival-facts/

entertainment wise, ya you guys win. but dont forget our contributions. john candy, jim carrey, tommy chong, mj fox, phil hartman, eugene levy, norm macdonald, leslie neilsen, the sutherlands, and of course shatner

financially i am paying 5% tax and nothing on top of that. there are so many social programs here that most of my friends sat on their asses and collected nice cheques after being laid off. and yes the healthcare is that good. ive never had to pay for anything out of my pocket for any sort of examinations, 90% medical supplies paid for. and abortions are free, for those dirty dirty girls.

if you wanna go to a nice place, you go to BC, penticton and vancouver are hella nice vacation spots, really warm weather. and if you want to talk weather, the northeast always gets fucked with snow. was washington and pittsburgh snowed in a few weeks ago? we had a few weeks of weak snowfall and thats it. this “SNOWY SIBERIA” is nothing but a stereostype and unless you live in the territories is it ever true. otherwise the weather is mainly better than new york and pennsylvania.

the xenophobia, i have no idea where you got that. canada prides itself on its multiculturalism as its identity. not like the confederate flag bearers of the USA who dont want to have anything to do with something that isnt U-S-A. ive never heard anything about any american channels or shows being banned, again if that happened it would be in the east.
and ya there are a bunch of canadians that have a holier than thou attitude. and its pretty gay. its as bad as redneck yanks wearing USA flag sweatpants. but i dont associate myself with them. i have plenty of american friends and its never been brought up which country is better, in the end im just trying to piss you off.
26 medals isnt bad for a country of 36 million people
37 for 310 million isnt bad either i guess
and im basically done with this, its just gonna go back and forth
im just glad that i heard 50+million americans were watching the game, hopefully it makes the sport more popular
I disagree with the melting pot imagery. It’s often used to describe how immigrants are “forced” to adapt to their cultural ways but looking at how things are, the different neighbourhoods, the different ethnicities, and the number of latinos working who don’t even speak english, I’m going to have to disagree with that image.
Edit: Just writing Melting Pot makes me hungry for fondue.
there are too many states where that shit isnt accepted, show me the puerto rican district in arkansas
or else you wouldnt have the KKK and those affoementioned rednecks
But then again you have Quebec which doesn’t allow english speaking, kicks english kid’s asses and discriminates against them. The argument is valid for both countries really.
Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were stellar in this tournament. Seabrook and Keith were also very good.
I will definitely be loading up on Chicago players in the upcoming playoff pool.
ya but i dont count your stupid birth province
fuck, when it comes to this argument what an achilles heel that dumb place is lol
Thing is, none of those people are welcome contributors to the entertainment scene. Michael J. Fox and Kiefer being the exceptions. And do Canadians seriously like William Shatner? I thought that was a joke.
Kind of proves my point. Canadians have an unhealthy dependence on the government. And there’s no debate on healthcare. You don’t have a dozen people crammed into the back of a minivan going for Canadian medicine. America has the downtrodden being funneled in for healthcare from both ends.
All those people who still have a Confederate flag hate America for taking back them coloreds folk who done mow their lawn for em. And just Google “channel banned in Canada”. There’s more than one that you’ll see. Or maybe you won’t see anything. Canada banned some American news outlets.
A bunch? That’s it?
This thread is trying to compete with the religious argument thread for futility.
imo.
Quebec is the equivalent of Detroit or something. It just hurts the image of the rest of the country .
As an American, I say GG and grats to the Canadians. It was an entertaining hockey match and hopefully hockey in America can ride this match’s popularity to mount a comeback, and win Gold in 2014.
I want to visit Canada one day for poutine alone. This Canada/America thing has to stop. If Canada ever got invaded by another country, we’d be shipping soldiers by the assload to defend them. And Canada WON’T be invaded by another country in a long-ass time, because everyone in the world knows we got their back.
And I’m sure if America were ever to be invaded by another country, Canada would send its soldier to help us. If he wasn’t busy. (j/k Canadians had to throw that one in there)
^_-;
mounted police back up ftw? lol.
honestly i dont like to compare the countries, i was just trying to troll spuddly
ive gone to the states many times and never had a bad experience
if anything the fast food employees were sooo fucking nice when i was there
probably becuse they need their jobs and treat them seriously, even if its just fast food
here, you have punks that dont give a shit and only work because their parents force them
im happy that north america are the kings of hockey
no disrespect, i dont mean no harm
Canada doesn’t exist.
In the end USA and Canada are Starsky & Hutch. Different methods, same results. And one of them smokes a lot of weed.
we are like murtaugh and riggs
but canada is riggs, because we dont have any black people
Well aside from all the “political talk”, it’s back to regular NBC programming… yup
