they left the backdoor open…what did they expect?
lol dunno y every1 is mad about the game. US’ first 2 goals were flukes, when ever kane handles the puck my hearts stops. Canada had 2:1 worth of shots against USA but Miller was too good, Brodeur got shook after the 3rd goal, Canada had 4+ minutes in penalties in 3rd period, which i think is stupid. But w/e Canada will still be playing for qualifications, if we ever beat them red rockets (Russia) i would want to see CAN vs USA for gold.
Fucking Kesler
Canada has proven that they can’t do a good opening ceremony. They’ve proven they can’t build something. They’ve proven they can’t win a fair game. They’ve proven they can’t win a fixed game. But most of all, they’ve proven themselves to be complete douchebags.
How much you guys spend for this shit?
@ the article on the last link…that nigga really tryed to compare snowboarders and skiiers to convicts and cops?!
haha how come every1 trying to be a financial analyst in this thread.
friendly trash talking is no problem at all, i do it all the time…i went to pitsburgh for a leaf game and the whole night was fun everyone was drunk, talking trash and having a good time. But then you get idiots, like some of the clowns in this thread that just sit around and talk shit cause they have nothing better going on in their lives. Like seriously i’m pretty sure spudlyff8fan just found out a canadian raped his mom and he’s not actually an american. These are also the people that give americans a bad name. you go anywhere in the world and americans have a shitty rep…which is strange because all the ones i meet are cool people…but then you meet the retards that come out of the country and make everyone else in the country look like a jerkoff.
i don’t know why people are hating on the slogans and people being proud of having the olympics in canada. it’s not like when the olympcis are in the states or in any other country they don’t have bunch of patriotic bullshit too.
Well, this is a two week long game, so if you think about it like that, there will be shit talking over those two weeks.
But at the end of the day, at least we aren’t like S. Korea

<If that was already posted…my bad but I’m not gonna go back like 3 pages looking for a link>
god damn americans are rubbing this shit in hardcore. no wonder canadians are being salty, talk about poor winners.
Personally I hate the whole “Own the podium” thing. “We were built for this?” more like “We were billed for this.” Even though I kinda enjoy the madness of it all, me and the rest of BC plus Canada is going to be stuck with a debt that will be fucking us for a long time to come. Granted we should be winning this winter sports, but really think about it. Compare the sports funding budget for Olympic athletes vs. US, Russia and China. It’s a miracle that we even get to the podium sometimes. The whole point is while I love Canada sometimes funding in general is a tug and pull in different aspects of our society. That’s why we have brain drain and that’s why sometimes we just feel mediocre. I couldn’t care less about sports, but I really do feel a bit of sympathy for athletes who want to pursue a dream in sports, but only to be held back by a lack of complete access to training and funds to achieve their goal. I’m not bitter about other countries’ wealth because it goes to show that success breeds more success. However it must really suck ass to think that when you represent your country on the world stage, your country isn’t backing you 100% like other countries.
There are a few reasons why Americans are shit talking as much as they are. The first is partially because of the mad shit that Canadians were talking before the game, pretending like USA had no chance, everyone likes to ram people’s faces into why they were wrong after the fact. The second is that I am sure in the alternate universe where Canada doesn’t lose there would be mad Canadians in here saying similar stuff, probably not as much because trash talking is mainly a USA skill but they’d be talking nonetheless. Finally, a lot of people just like trolling Canada even if they do/did not care about hockey, they see an opportunity to troll Canada and they jump on it.
P.S. USA USA USA USA USA USA.
imo.
Americans are overplaying it, Canadians are underplaying it.
What is impressive is that this is the first time US team beats Canada since 1960. So no medal yet, but still nice for breaking a 50 year streak.
Edit: Plus, women’s hockey will probably go to Canada. Although the rivalry between the US team and the Canada team should make for a pretty good game.
Honestly, I’d have dropped it if the Canadians on the internet were taking it in stride, but there’s such unanimity across the internet that it’s too juicy to drop. Every forum I frequent has its Canadian members doing precisely what the ones here are doing, with epic butthurtness, saying that there’s no way we’ll beat Ovechkin, saying that the Americans are just being mean and down the list. Seriously. EVERY forum. And not just forums, I played some Team Fortress 2 shortly after the game and there were a couple Canadians bitching about it. If they were just like “damn, that sucks. Good game, though,” this thread would be at least a page shorter.
We deserved the win. Canada went into the game cocky and it cost them. Its pretty funny to listen to all the Canadian fans blame the win on Miller.
USA!
Speaking of that “sport”, its a shame its even an Olympic event. And I say that out of the sake of competition. 18-0? Seriously? That is a 2 horse race, and believe me when I say whom ever gets the Bronze shouldnt even be allowed to attend the medal ceremony. I love hockey, but there is no competitoon outside of the 2 dominant North American teams.
PS- remove it and add Snowball Fighting/Capture the Flag!
i blame the win on miller, brodeur always flopping, pronger being nowhere, perry not trying at all, and canadians passing to fucking much
fuck this team, every team they have played have tried their asses off and either come close like the swiss, or spanked us like the yanks
if they really want to win on home soil, they need to smarten up NOW, start luongo from now on and keep fleury as a back up, something is wrong with brodeur and i dont want him in net anymore
also they need to fucking shoot, sure the shots were onesided but they could have had more, the canucks really wanted to score with a pass and thats stupid, rafalski just throws in rockets from the blue line or even closer and they succeed
frankly it was an excellent game to watch, the americans were the better team and we move on
but i cant help feel another torino dissapointment…

BTW, where was Canada in the 1980 Olympics?
By the way, I want to congratulate the Americans (not just the hockey team) for their goddamn helmets. You guys have the best designs ever.
There was that one skeleton women with a blue helmet, stars on the side, stripes down the middle with a big gold eagle in the front.
And then the goaler’s helmet with that big buff Uncle Sam carrying the olympic torch.
Very nice.
if canada had won gold in those olympics it would also have been a miracle

IIRC, they didn’t allow actual NHLers 'til 1998 (though Russians cheated and forced in their pro players).
Still, that’s the thing. Anybody winning gold other than Russia would’ve been a miracle.
ya exactly, i was just making a point to tim static about where canada was… not in contention with that motley crew
