This isnāt China, weāre not taking babies away from their parents at walking age and training them to be gymnastic beasts. Closest thing we have is probably parents voluntarily enrolling their kids into hockey programs. But even then, the Canadians still lose to the US.
Iām not a hockey fan so I donāt really care they lost but that puts me in the minority in Canada. What I do care about is if they fail to win the Gold, or even a medal for that matter the entire country is going to treat this like a national tragedy. All the sports channels and shows are going to be talking and analyzing non-stop about what went wrong. Meanwhile, the Leafs continue to sellout every game with tickets priced 50% over the NHL average despite being one of the worst teams in the league while the Raptors (a team that has been winning, unlike the Argos, Jays, TFC, and Leafs) and every other team and sports are ignored.
The NHL lockout still leaves a bad taste in my mouth. No not because there was a lockout, but because all TSN and Sportsnet ever did was talk about it. āHereās 30 seconds of NBA highlights, and now back discussing Day 91 of the lockout.ā
