Official USFIV/GGXrd/P4U TE2 Thread

i just bought a te2 off amazon but now am reading that the plexi moves around, is it so bad i need to get it modded?

mine slightly moved around a bit. I eventually got used to it, but once I swapped buttons it moved around even more. I’ve ordered a new plexi from arts hobbies to see if that will make a difference, as per advice from some of the people here.

Maybe I skimmed over this, but I didn’t see anyone mention the home button panel being an issue. I just received my TE2 Rivals stick yesterday and noticed that the home button panel seems to be lifting/ungluing a bit from the case. Is this something I should be concerned about? Anyone have this issue, if so how did you go about fixing it. Thanks in advance.

Yeah I noticed this too it’s alright we got madcatz warranty if it happens to come out hopefully they’ll resolve it? I would think so.

But it is starting to get worrysome since I didn’t notice it until you pointed it out…

@kogyaru and @“Gorilla White”, have you guys ever had a TE before. They all have quirks. The TE1 had glue all over the place, disconnected joysticks, clearance inconsistencies, on and on. They aren’t going to be perfect.

so… still no go on that ps4 te2 PCB pin out eh… I’m dyin. this multimeter wont be here for a week :frowning:

Sorry if this has been answered, but do 24mm Seimitsu Screw Ins fit in the TE2 without having to remove the little button shelter?

I’ve had several madcatz arcade sticks and still have a few. None of the other sticks have had any issues or any quirks. Thats why it seemed odd to me. Hopefully its nothing to worry about.

Just received my white Rivals TE2 as well and have to say I’m pretty disappointed. I have a ton of sticks (way too many) and I really felt like I may have found my keeper stick here. Well, unfortunately not. It definitely looks great but the plexi issue is super annoying (enough to make me not want to use it) and I also have the bulging home panel issue. I will get the art hobbies plexi but it’s annoying that I have to, especially since shipping to Canada is $30 (seriously, WTF). Even then though, the bezel feels like super cheap plastic and takes away from the overall feeling of the stick completely.

I don’t buy that “well it’s a Mad Catz stick, that’s what you should expect” attitude. I’ve had my TE1 since the beginning and it’s still my favourite stick. I even modded it with a PS4 PCB to keep it going into the next generation.

Overall TE2 rating: 7/10 (it gets bonus points for the flip top design and overall aesthetic of the Rivals stick being so great. Great artwork too).

-edit-
The plexi issue is annoying enough that I just removed it for now. Hopefully using it like this before the art hobbies plexi arrives won’t damage the artwork too much, but I can’t use it as it is.

Was the Home Button panel ever supposed to be flush with the top panel? I always remember it bumping up slightly so I thought it was part of the design, but all these people complaining about it is making me concerned and doubtful that it’s actually supposed to be that way

This art hobbies plexi…is it already cut to size? Sorry for dumb questions |:

Yeah it’s cut to size, just the button holes will be standard 30mm instead of the larger ones that come with the TE2 so you can’t remove the plexi without removing the buttons, art’s site mentions all that though.

Yep

EDIT: Looks like I was beat to the punch

Yep it’s good to go

That’s part of the good thing about it though. It means it won’t slide around.

Well neither would the Mad Catz one if they were actually cut perfectly I guess.

The plexi issue doesn’t bother me. I’m more worried about these other “quirks”. I don’t want the panel to completely unglue after some heavy use or time. When I purchase my sticks, I buy them with the intent of keeping them for years.
I like you also like my older MadCatz arcade stick. My SFxT VS stick is the best arcade stick i’ve owned and will definitely keep it. Might just end up modding it to work on the PS4 as well.

I know for a fact you handled one of these before purchasing this one  . Admittedly, it had a tek innovations plexi on it, which seems to make a big difference.

I still prefer it to the PS4 HRAPs, it just needs a plexi upgrade out of the box  as well as loosening the hinges.

I have a regular PS4 TE 2 (Black and Blue) and I bought the Tek Innovations plexi and 8 screw in buttons. One thing to note is that for the X (short) button, mine would not fit due to the additional joystick mounts being too close to the button. What I had to do was chisel out a bit of plastic from the button ring and then screw the button in from the top. It’s a little off center but no big deal.

I feel like I was mislead T_T

Seriously though, if you have to spend $60USD (that’s like, $2000 CAD right now?) to make the ($200USD) stick feel good then it’s not a great investment. I could have bought a fighting edge and a PS4 controller to mod it with for that money.

I still (kinda) like it though.

-edit-
I fixed the plexi issue with some masking tape cut into very fine strips and applied to the edges of the plexi under the bezel. There’s not a lot of room to do this if you don’t want to see masking tape at the edges, but it seems to work fine if you’re careful. Will have to see if it holds up to extended use.

I got a second hand TE2 about a week ago, and I’m pretty happy with it. sure a bit of cleaning, button swaps, but I really like the stick so54 far. anyway, It’s the PU4 ps4/ps3 version, and the previous owner soldered a xbox360 controller to it so it can work on all three systems. the mod I don’t mind so much, but I have a question about modding this stick in general. If I got a crossbone or a ps360+ PSB, would it work? I heard somewhere that they fixed the ps4 time out, but I also read that’s not true. any clarification? thanks.
