You are 100% correct and I want to make extra sure that people know that the flaws comes right from the factory. When you read this thread there are different people constantly coming back and complaining/asking if its normal.
No not really… If you have followed this thread, there was only one off people asking if the flimsiness was normal and etc here and there. There was not a thorough review, and for the few people who were confused, it leads you to think they had one-off defective stick from good batch of sticks.
But anyway there were many respectful reviews around the net web pages, and videos. I have went through many of them. All praises. I saw the few comments here but the reason why I ignored the negative comments were because I thought they had defect sticks also. It was the same thought that the Amazon reviews that had the negative comments was from people who had a defect from the factory.
After 3 different iterations and probing around - the flaw comes right from the factory and its not a one-off defect.
Also on the point of “Whole forum one purpose to exist was for the products like this in the thread…” I think I also have added value by posting more for people who are anal.
Why do you like rewarding bad product sir?
Why the animosity? There are people still coming here and saying their top lid is flimsy and you don’t say anything to them?
Are you sad that you purchased a flawed stick and have remorse that you paid too much for it and you just realize it now?
DarkSakul stop being the lord of your own virtual world. Take your self outside to see some sunlight and make real friends.
At 13,370 posts, you could have a real job instead of lingering around the forums all day long making virtual friends and making your folks work to pay the bills (and your stick).
Hey sorry if this issue is known and has been stated before. Recently my TE 2 has been randomly disconnecting from the PS4. Now I’ve heard that the USB makes the initial handshake with the ps4 and from there it goes to bluetooth, but if it doesn’t receive another signal from the controller after a certain amount of time it will disconnect it. Not sure if there’s some issue with the usb in that case. Has anyone else had this problem? I’ve had the stick for a while and never had issues with it.
Unfortunately I haven’t had my TE2 for a long amount of time, but I figured it couldn’t hurt to give you my experiences with my TE2. I’ve had the rivals edition for about a week and a half now. Use it on PS4 all the time for extended amounts of time–I’ve been playing around 3-4 hours daily with around 8 hours being my longest time with the stick plugged in I think. All these times my DS4 hasn’t been turned on and connected to the PS4, so I don’t think the the disconnect should be happening to you even if it doesn’t receive a signal from the controller. If anything hopefully it’s just the usb rather than something circuit board related. Hope this helps!
That’s just how darsakul is. He’s straight to the point. He might come off confrontational but you shouldn’t take it as a offense . You’re basically complaining a lot of your problems with the stick even though its been stated a lot in this thread already. You have to try to take it to the next step (which some of the people in this thread have been doing already. Like complaining to madcatz or something) I understand your frustration with the stick but can you imagine our frustration when someone complains about the same problem that has been talked about over and over again? Its obvious the madcatz te2 has problems now and we have to figure out what the next step is. This thread isn’t the official madcatz complaint page. I don’t even think markman even checks this thread as much anymore.
Saying darksakul should go outside and get a job JUST because of his 13370 post makes it seems like he’s already won and gotten under your skin. You’re on this site arguing with someone about sticks and then you say he needs to go outside and stop making his folks pay the bills. Makes you look a little childish.
Just calm down and read whatever solutions there has been to fix the te2 problems. If you don’t like whatever solutions there are available then return the stick.
Well I think I’ve narrowed down the issue with my TE 2 to be a faulty connection point where the cord detaches in the back. Not sure if an issue with the cord itself or the stick. I don’t think there is much I can do about it at this point aside from contacting Madcatz customer service. Just want to forewarn people that this is a thing that can happen. The stick is only 6 months old too.
I just recently got my Rivals TE2 and it’s doing something very similar. The USB cord that screws into the port on the back doesn’t seem stable but it’s also possible the port itself is bad. If the cord moves even slightly to the left or right the controller cuts off or flickers on and off. Then I have to adjust the cable and hit the PS button to make it sync again. My wife and I were taking turns playing online and every time I passed her the stick it disconnects. As long as it sits perfectly still in my lap it doesn’t happen, but I can see myself forfeiting rounds at a tournament.
I asked this in the art thread but it kinda slipped by and this thread is probably more relevant so I’ll copy paste:
I have the unbranded blue and black TE2. Gonna be putting art that’d pretty much black and white. Should I get the smoke TE2 panels or pure black ? Straight black would match the bezel and art maybe, but I don’t know if it’d look weird on the side. Is the Guilty Gear stick the same case color as the one I have but just with the smoke panels instead of blue? Don’t wanna order the wrong thing been waiting on these panels to come in stock for 2+ months. I don’t know if the pure black will match or clash with the body of the case.
I think straight black would look the best, personally. Too bad they are already out of stock on almost every color.
Here’sa low-res version of the art I’m putting on my stick. The “Red” and “Vermillion” panels are too bright, and too pink, respectively. Black is going to be my best bet, IMO.
The smoke colored panels are somewhat translucent, as well, which doesn’t look good to me. Just my opinion though.
So are new TE2’s still shipping with the same issues? I still need a stick for my PS4, I didn’t want to buy one that I’d have to swap parts right away like I would with the Hori or Venom, but with the TE2 issues, that might be the way to go.
Everyone wants a tool-less, easy to open design. Guess what the Clam shell construction has some inherit flaws in it.
The Razer stick has some of the same issues that the TE2 has, both can’t be fixed with simple part swapping.
But isn’t that the point in a easy to open stick, equally as easy part swapping?
Not as big a deal to me for the clam shell design, it’s cool, but if it’s causing issues I can do without it, hell, I sold all my sticks for my 360 and the only one I still have/am using for it is my modded brawl stick.
Funny you mention the Atrox, I just bought one for the One… What issues should I be on the look out for?
And since you mention the issues can’t be switched with simple part swapping, I would guess that you would recommend going the route of picking up a Hori and swapping parts rather than dealing with the issues on the TE2 that can’t be solved with a part swap?
Issues the Atrox and the TE 2 shares:
[] sorta flimsy body
[] lid never sits right/sits flush

proprietary USB cord connector
Issues exclusive to the TE 2:

Various top plexy issues, replacing the plexy is the most recommended fix.
Issues exclusive to the Atrox:
[] the cover for the release button/ unlatch button breaks off easily
[] gas strut is known to break off at it’s plastic anchors in the Beta models 6 months to a year after testing. With some sticks haven’t been handled in that time.

bottom half of the case is known to get twisted.
They’re not instantly sold out, they just didn’t update the stock after updating the website with the new colors. I just noticed the side panels were in stock and ordered the new black panels, hopefully the order works =) And hopefully the black side panels will match with my existing stick:
