ive tried it but i cant get it to fit in between the top panel and the mounting plate. only thing i can think of is to sand down the screw enough to force it in
I have bought 3 different sticks of the TE2. Returned 2 and kept the last one.
1st TE2 - Red colored xbox one. Top side, left and right lip was flimsy… you press the sides and it creaks. It is not flush with the sides. I thought it was a bad stick I returned it.
2nd TE2 - Blue colored PS3/4. Top side, left and right lip was flimsy… you press the sides and it creaks. It is not flush with the sides. Also has the rainbow color and was worse than the first. Returned it.
3rd TE2 - White colored limited edition with orange bezel. Top side, left and right lip was flimsy… you press the sides and it creaks. No Rainbow colors in plexi.
Decided to keep the third one since I’m convinced its not me receiving one-off factory defect stick and for now, it is the most mod friendly. Three different iterations, flimsy top, right side creaks much more than the left side, gap between the bezel and the plexi on all three.
The limited edition that I’m keeping will be my go to stick for carrying around ~
They should of somehow locked or secured the sides of the stick when the lid is closed not just the front latch and the top would be more stable and less creaky with poping sounds when you push down slightly, both my TE2’s were the same, creaky, rainsbows, scratches on the plexi but I got 2 thicker replacement plexis from Mad Catz thankfully and they are decent as far as a plexi not held by the buttons, but sold 1 TE2 because 1 is enough for me.
Surprised they don’t sell an extra cable for it, unless they did and I missed it.
I’m guessing hits is a bit of a case of “you only ever hear complaints online because any praise is washed away by the complaints” type thing, because I can’t be the only person who’s not had any issues with their TE2 and just love it?
The tops are a bit flimsy. Just got the Rivals TE2 in and it had the same issues. Also the new/cheaper plexiglass top sucks.
Ps- am I the only one that finds this color scheme ugly? Throwback or not… Yeeesh. The art and the white case is cool, but that orange bezel has got to go.
Just bought my first stick ever, a mad catz TE2 off of amazon, it was 2% off!(what a deal).
Is there anything worth upgrading on the stick and is there any way to make the stick compatible with xbox one? I heard the te2 sticks for xbox one cannot cross over to ps platform, but since te2 for ps came out later you can?
Also is there a good website that has custom art that you can print out to replace the artwork on the stick? What’s the best way to replace the artwork? I see a few posts people suggest replacing the plexi glass?
[/details]
That little socket on the right, is that where the lighter goes?
I’m refreshing MadCatz’s Twitter and store page constantly waiting for these TE2 replacement side panel colors that they said would be in stock this week… I need to get some black panels and I wish they’d let us know when they’ll be for sale! Argh.
Hey hey… don’t get us wrong now… I said I did kept one in the end right? and so did Tensho. Obviously we loved all features of the TE2 however we did want to mention major overlook since it does cost $200. I don’t know about you but $200 is a huge investment for the rest of us. Even the original TE at $150 is a huge investment. That’s also because they already set the benchmark with the TE original - great size stick with optimal weight, great arcade parts from Sanwa, no creaks or flimsyness.
We just wanted to make sure people who are going to buy the stick know what they are buying for $200 because it seems that people (including myself) are asking the same questions when we bought it - Why is it creaking? Why is it flimsy? why does it have rainbow? - Am I the only few who got a defect stick?
Yeah I have an Xbox One Atrox and a PS4/3 Rivals TE2 and am having a hard time trying to decide between the two (I just play PC).
The top on the Atrox feels more solid, including the thicker plexi which is nice. The TE2 has a pretty sweet looking case though and feels more solid everywhere else.
Really have no idea what to keep and what to sell.
mdsfx, that’s a interesting problem that shouldn’t be a problem.
If you value money more, sell the TE2 rivals at the right time where you will make $100 profit.
Else sell the Atrox. You know the Atrox is not more solid since you own one . The lid is thicker however when you use the Atrox your brain is telling you “Damn this top lid doesn’t fully close because of the hydraulic mechanism that pushes the top lid upwards. The top lid is always springing up and down… and it sucks that most of this pushing upward momentum is mostly on the left side.” - your hands feel it and your hands also go up and down along with the springy lid. You own one, you feel what I feel. LoL
Lol. Honestly, the te2 lid flexes more to me, but I might just keep both for the hell of it.
Can add that I have the same experiences here. Also Got a TE2 Rivals and the sides are creaky, right side moreso than the left. Thinner plexi also sucks so planning on getting one from tekinnovations after I move. Not a total deal breaker though. Love how customizable the stick is so I’ll definitely be keeping it. Just kinda annoying rainbowing because of moisture and creakiness that really shouldn’t be there on a premium product
Oh I get why you’re bringing these things up, and I’m not debating that some people are having issues, I just think that the internet is a place that breeds negativity, people don’t tend to praise things a lot online, but as soon as something is slightly amiss the whole world must be told. If someone were to come to this thread pretty much all they’d see would be people complaining about the stick - I just wanted to voice a bit of praise and say that I’ve had no problems and think my stick is great - and I’m looking forward to starting to take advantage of the fancy flappy lid design and modding this shit out of it over the next month or two =D
Yes. Go here. Good website with high quality plexi’s and art print/cut services. Make sure you read the FAQs there.
I’m wondering about the same thing. I just ordered a beautiful new art print along with matching buttons and balltop/dust cover. The color scheme is black and red, so I’d really like to change out these blue side panels.
Welcome to the World of Arcade Controllers. Here is a very high price of Entry into this Hobby no matter which way you slice it.
The Arcade parts them selves are not cheap, 40 to 55 dollars or more just for the buttons and joystick alone, not to mention the case/body/shell and your encoder/PCB.
All your questions or concerns for X stick at this time have been already addressed and that horse is long since been dead. Read the relevant threads. Don’t skip around, scan or just ask questions on that thread without reading anything first.
All of the current gen offerings as their pros and cons, and the DIY route can cost you more than the stock stick.
if the cost of sticks break the bank, save up more or the cost of a stick is not in your financial future - End of Story.
I respectfully disagree for this specific case with the TE2 sticks. The whole world was praising the TE2 sticks. I basically went through all youtube reviews and individual website reviews and there was only praise. So with that in mind I was super delighted to order the TE2 stick. That’s why the confusion. The reviews never mentioned any flaws and so when I spent $$$$ and received my stick, I was sort of upset. My first reaction was that I got a defect stick with the TE2 xbox one and I understand it happens so I sent it back. So I tried a different batch with the PS3/4 TE2 stick and same thing. I was again patient and re-odered from a new batch which was the rivals stick.
And then again, the same thing…
I went through a long painful process of returns at least 2 times thinking mine was a defect since there were overwhelming amount of positive reviews. I hope I saved another person’s time - if you are the type of person that’s going to be upset because of rainbow smudges, creaks because of the flimyness after spending $200, this is not for you. And No you didn’t get a defect stick; the flaws come directly from the factory as a standard that passes MadCatz quality assurance.
I hope MadCatz fixes this and future buyers can enjoy sticks better than mine.
thinking about trying a korean stick in my te2, but im not sure what the difference is between the cwj-303n and the cwj-303fk. will the cwj-303n fit without and sort of case modding?
That’s understood - more so why the quality of the stick out from the factory is expected to be of high quality without rainbows.
This is what they advertise - http://store.madcatz.com/platforms/xbox-one/Mad-Catz-Arcade-FightStick-Tournament-Edition-2-for-Xbox-One.html
This is what I got 100% of the time - http://s27.postimg.org/fzetmowdv/Mad_Catz_TE2_Rainbow_2.jpg
Not Really… On the net, where they have reviews, they didn’t mention any flaws. Here on SRK,few brave souls mentioned its flaws. I applaud the few.;
That’s not what we’re talking about here. I know how much the sticks costs. How much I have in my bank and value of the stick are two different aspects. The problem is the high cost vs brokeness right out of the factory (which confused people because of only high praises) Like I said, there is high expectations because of the cost. I responsibly saved $200 so it does not ruin my future however quality of this $200 does not match “you get what you paid for…” Instead it’s like “You paid high, but they jipped you. And all the review sites rewards them with more praises.”
Hopefully its not End of Story - I would say as a community we should discuss this because hopefully it gives MadCatz the incentive of improving their next batch.
If you say this is End Of Story, then what do you expect for the next release? A $250 stick that has more/worse problems?
No one made you buy a TE2, and you had the option to make a return. Everything that revealed bad and good is already is in this thread.
If you failed to research unbiased reviews, you can’t think that the weight of a random review on Amazon has more weight than a whole forum whose one purpose to exist was for products like this in the thread which the product in question is the main topic.
No Sir it is End of Story, Good day to you sir.
